Loved, loved, loved this video. Christmas is my favorite time of year and there is nothing like a Southern Christmas, It's Southern hospitality at it's BEST! Thank you for sharing these events and I know there are so many more in the surrounding areas.

This looks like an absolutely amazing area to live. How does one keep a gator away from a golden retriever or is it recommended that dogs do not swim in the lake? I really want to provide my dog with the best life possilbe and for a golden that would include swimming. i did run into this a few times on St Simons Island, but as I listen/watch videos I suspect the alligator challenges are greater in South Carolina. I did just receive my South Carolina professional license to work with complex trauma survivors, veterans and active military & families, as well as working with children and adolescents who are survivors of domestic violence. I have worked in these areas for many years and although looking toward sem-retirement, I still want to service others and work part-time. How close to the Charleston area would I have to live to be able to work in the mental health field? I would also like to volunteer at the Charleston Humane Society and would like to know what suburbs might be closest to this facility. Make -A-Wish is also a charity I want to become involved with and I know Charleston has a chapter. Are you familiar with the location? As you can see I have been doing my research and your videos are adding such great information to what I have aready been exploring. I want to get involved in the Charleston life style (professionally, socially and providing charitable services to others.) Thank you for answering these questions. I was also wondering if I might be able to contact you by phone and discuss my plans and your suggestions. I will probably want to rent something new while you and I find the perfect place that I can call home. Thank you so very much. P.S. I have spent a lot of time vacationing in Charleston with my favorite destinations being Kiawah Island and Sullivan's Island although I know both are probably above my price range since I am looking to downsize.

Absolutely loved this video and listening to you share your personal story of how you arrived in Charlestson. I did the same kind of crazy cross country move years ago when I left the rainy, cold winters of Portland, OR and moved to beautiful St Simons Island off shore from Brunswisk, GA. Have you visited there? My 11 years on the island and living in the Low Country were the happiest years of my life. But my dad sadly got sick and I had to return to the West Coast for awhile. He was my hero and nothing could have kept me away from sharing his last few years with him. But now I am ready to head back home to the South and to the Low Country...Charleston has always been a place I loved and I feel like it could definitely be my next home. Seems like both you and I have found the true meaning of life and genuine happiness living in the South with the nicest people one could ever hope to meet. Thank you for sharing your journey to the South. You seem truly settled in and making beautiful memories.

You gave lots of specific information about each community as well as visually showing the types of homes and amenities in each. My home is currently listed for sale and I will be reaching out once it looks like I might have a potential buyer. However, I have a couple of questions I would like to ask now, if you don't mind. I am a passionate golden retriever lover and plan on getting a new puppy when I relocate. Do any of the 55+ communities allow for backyard fencing options as I will not put a shock collar on my dog. I am looking for a dog friendly community so any recommendations you have regarding which cities score higher would be greatly appreciated. I am also not limiting myself to 55+ communities although I do appreciate what they have to offer. My second question is regarding property taxes. I have an acquaintance in Bluffton who told me there is a significant homestead exemption on primary residences and once you have lived in your home one year you can apply/quality for reduced property taxes at a 4% rate. Is this accurate information? Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions.

Great video. My wife and I are from northeast Pennsylvania and currently just south of Scranton, PA. We've lived in the state our whole lives and would love to move to South Carolina someday...buy an unrestricted piece of land and place a tiny home on the lot.

This is what they signed up for when they purchased their property, if they bothered to read their terms. Short/term renting is incompatible with our protective covenants, bylaws, land plan, ARB standards, and conservation easement, NR zoning.

As someone who grew up on Johns Island and whose family has been here since the 1700s we are full. We can’t accommodate anymore of you comeya’s.

Another way to learn about the Charleston area is to read some Pat Conroy books, lol. We have visited a few times several years ago. If we decide to come looking at retirement opportunities, we'll definitely give you a call.

Can you comment on real estate and personal property (cars, boats, etc.) taxes in SC or counties for 100% disabled veterans ? Are there any VA hospitals in central SC ? Thanks!

Have any advice for couples nearing retirement ? Job opportunities and great schools are great for those looking for that. Wife and I are looking to retire to SC in the next few years, God willing. We're not "really" looking for 55+ communities, but we're not totally against them either. We can't afford Charleston. We'd love to be close enough to the ocean for day trips, but far enough away to have a little cushion from bad storms, lol. Moncks caught my eye today while surfing around looking at videos of smaller towns around Charleston.

Is there a reason why it seems that there aren't a large number of private homes with pools in the Charleston area? It just seems to be the perfect climate for pools, yet most homes don't have them. We currently have one in the northeast with a much shorter season and can't imagine retiring without one.

One or two Points...really need to Highlight the HUGE Money needed to live on Daniel Island, there is a reason Local and State Lawmakers live there, along with CEO's and Board members of thee Top 5 Companies in the WORLD. Property Taxes and Home Owner dues are Thru the Roof here. Ive worked on Daniel Island was one of thee first to bring AT@T phone lines to the Tennis Center back in the early 90's when it got so popular, Home Telecom couldnt handle the load, that is how we ended up on the island altogether. In the early 90s Residents there panicked when Mayor Reilly decided to put a Horseshoe shaped Affordable Housing Apartment Building right in the middle of the hussle and bussle. Things calmed down significantly when residents and the Mayor came to a agreement to put a Police sub station right in the Building. Cheers!

I have lived in Goose Creek since 2018. I love it here! I feel like I’m in the middle of the entire Charleston area. I haven’t been to that pizza place or coffee shop. My husband is a Pittsburgh Penguins fan. I’m sad that the little chapel is gone.

I am seriously hoping to move back (this would be my third time living in Charleston). First i need a job and money, but hopefully by fall 2024, i can be there. I moss it terribly. I would rather deal with hurricanes than wildfires, earthquakes, mega droughts, etc. I made a mistake leaving the east coast once. I won't make it twice
