Seems the key here is “yanks or hangs”. On the surface, seems real obvious, but it does allow for subjective calling Does “yank” mean it has to be forceful? Or bend the rim? Does “hang on” mean beyond simply touching the rim or grazing it? If you grab it at all? Does your body weight need to be supported in some way? In one sense, these seems like the right call. On the other, perhaps an amendment where you aren’t allowed to grab the rim at all in that situation would be good. I could easily see had the cards been reshuffled for the other end, they would have erred on the side of caution saying it affected the ball in some way. Thoughts?

Article 2 of the rulebook explains basket interference. Under a5 it states, "causes the basket or backboard to vibrate when the ball is on or within the basket or the backboard and/or is on or in the cylinder." Ball was in the cylinder, offensive player grabbed the rim enough to shake/vibrate. That's basket interference.

Although it may look similar, there's probably a difference in what Izzo says, who he says it to, and how he says it.

Glad he's on our side. It sounds like you want someone different so you can end a four game skid vs the Hawks. The players love him and if he's not violating ncaa rules, keep up the good work. Tell me he gets the best players in recruiting and then ask yourself why he's beating your team. It's called ability. You need to get yourself a new coach. If you aren't a Hoosier fan then go find a hobby.

Been one of the most consistent teams in the big ten the last 5 years. lead the league in scoring every year, have the highest scorers of the year every year, put players in the NBA...

@@turdferguson7504 He's in the nba but in 2021 when Garza won NPOY Iowa got upset by Oregon badly in the tournament. McCaffery still has never been to the sweet 16 as a head coach. My teams aren't even in the Big10 but this dude annoys the hell out of me the way he treats refs.

He spends an entire time out in an infantile stare down of a ref. And he’s won nothing, his players reflect his poor attitude. Blowing kisses in a blowout gesturing a charge call in dramatic fashion. Their fans aren’t the same as they used to be either. I used to like Iowa and Iowa fans. Tom Davis was class, Alford was class…this guy is a clown.

Obviously, winning is the bottom line, but a coach should manage to keep his/her composure and not make an ass of yourself and school. The term student-athlete is for many college players pure bullshit as they are just waiting to enter the NBA, but for a majority, they can still learn the importance of teamwork etc. that can help them in life and the workplace.

I always found it funny how players and coaches are forced to talk to media after games, but refs who are every bit as part of the game as the players and coaches, sometimes even more so like this example here just get to go home and chill.

Players may not: -touch the ball while it is in or on the basket, or in the cylinder Or -touch the basket while the ball is in or on the basket Or -move the ring such that it contacts the ball while in motion. Note that there’s no prohibition on touching the basket while the ball is in the cylinder. The player touched the ring with the ball in the cylinder, but released it before the ball entered the basket, and did not move the ring. By rule this is not basket interference.
