    Nit picky quibble, ships do turn by “pushing their bum out.” Rudder pusher rear end of ship toward outside of the turn causing keel to point toward inside. So maybe not best example 😂😂

    Thank you for making these videos. Can you please elaborate on how to understand + identify a “basic attempt”. I think I’m sometimes unclear in my communication because I do not reinforce at the moment of basic attempt and find myself instead looking for a perfect attempt. I’d also love to hear more about how to choose the placement of pressure. I would’ve thought that you’d apply pressure in the same place that the pressure would be if you were under saddle (so for shoulder displacement I personally might’ve placed pressure where my leg would be applying pressure)

    My last lessons 2 years ago included frustrated words about how I wasn't holding onto the reins and don't blame it on the horse that the reins were coming out of my hands. What was shown here would have been a more helpful approach. I was holding as hard as I could to keep the reins. I wonder if that was part of the problem and they didn't notice. I can only speculate. I was too busy being verbally chewed up for not following directions to figure out how to rephrase my comment about the reins being pulled out of my hands into something that was a specific request for help and not something that sounded like I'm not willing to take responsibility for controlling my body. I swear my fingers were not passively lose letting gravity take them.

  • @jewelweed6880
    @jewelweed6880 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I need hours and hours on the longe to get fixed, with a good ground person who can keep our circle round. The only lesson I really learned at the last place was how mangled my position is. I don't even know what I was doing right, or just ok. Toes cocked out, pinching knee, stiff ankles, get weight even across the stirrups, arched back tips seat bones back, tend to weight one side of my body too much which has a cascade effect on other body parts, carry elbows too open, fingers don't stay closed, one hand has a mind of it's own, and I need to learn to use my core. I also get anxious when the slightest thing happens, so I get a slight fetal curl that happens. All of this needs work before I can make progress off my plateau. But I haven't had riding time in at least 2 years. Now with corona virus all the barns offering lessons aren't accepting new students.

    Ms. Poseley, can you give advice on the rider's breathing technique whilst riding; avoiding holding one's breath in the chest, breathing to quick and/or not breathing at all in combination with underlying tension in the riders buttocks in the knees in the arms ect. Many thanks for your time AND thankyou for the new video's. Cheers.

    This has nothing to do with dressage which is a specialty. This is basic equitation. And neither the rider nor the teacher should be wearing spurs. The rider because she's unstable in the saddle and the teacher because wearing spurs while doing work on the ground risks a tangle with the longe line and a fall. Also, the teacher should be standing still so that the horse remains on a circle and is not changing the radius all the time which changes what the rider must do. Do the basics right. All things effective in riding -- dressage, jumping, work in the open -- come from there.

    Why can't EVERY horse person be this attuned to the HORSES NEEDS? They work hard for us without complaint, the least WE can do is try to make that work as pleasant as possible for them... It can only be more pleasant for us in the long run, and without that symbiotic connection no real progress can be made... Love her! I need to watch more!

    I would let her stirrups down a hole, then in a week or so, another. It would all come together. Short stirrups are giving everyone a very false sense of security, and they lack true balance.
