    I'm seeing a lot of videos about this topic. What are you guys doing to break those jets? I'm suspecting you're using the WRONG SCREWDRIVER. Regular American flat blade screwdrivers DO NOT FIT into that jet slot properly. Just like an American Philips screwdriver DOES NOT FIT into the Philips-looking screws that hold Japanese carburetors together. The Japanese have JIS screwdrivers which are ALMOST the same as our Philips screwdrivers but they fit better and more snugly into those type of screws. From what I've been reading, you should be using GUNSMITHING flat-blade screwdrivers for taking out carburetor jets. Their flat sides are parallel and fit better into the jet slot. American flatblade screwdrivers have a taper which will lead to rounding off or breaking off the top of the jet. Oh, JIS stands for Japanese Industry Standard. They're a bit more expensive than our flat blades but when you add in the cost of broken jets the cost comes out about the same.

    Thanks bro for the idea! I did a similar thing where I drilled using a 2mm bit and then just hammered in the hex key of 2mm using plastic hammer(without modifying the key) and so I had proper leverage when holding it with a ring spanner and it came out perfectly. The hex key got bent a little but it worked.

    Legend! Worked for me :) But I used a modified torx screw driver that fit instead of the ellen key. Great idea, thanks.

    Those carbs are identical to the carbs on the gs750es i just got where I experienced this problem today, not surprising though because just about everything seems to be stripped on that bike. This has also happened to me with a set of bst36ss carbs from my old gsxr, it seems that old brass jet can get extremely brittle. The pilot jet is still stuck in the gsxr carbs i'll have to give this a go! thanks!

      MusashiSolid206 my pilot jets on my gs750 are also smashed. did this work for you?

    • @MusashiSolid206
      @MusashiSolid206 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just made sure there was no debris stuck anywhere, cleaned and put back together, its been running good. eventually i will have to deal with the stuck pilot jet when i decide to ditch the airbox and buy a jet kit but for now its been fine.

    THANK YOU! I though I was going to have to risk it with an easy out, nothing would get it to budge. You HAVE to cut the top off the allen key, or it's nearly impossible to hammer it in strait. I skipped the drilling, and beveled the edge on a key that was just slightly larger then the hole.
