I feel like we are doing very similar colors! I'm not doing mohair though, never worked with it and I was too scared to try it for the first time on a mystery shawl 😂 I'm using knit picks stroll 1. Deep purple 2. Sprinkled heather ❤

I learned Brioche this week too! The mohair with contrast color combo gives the best squish. I’ve been deep in A Discovery of Witches, it is spooky season!

For some reason it never would’ve occurred to me to use the lace weight yarn held with one of the colors but yours came out beautiful! I was also watching some Downton Abbey for clue 2-it’s also a personal favorite/comfort watch for me as well! I’m not sure if you’re into anime/animated shows at all, but I absolutely love Blue Eye Samurai (Edo period animated series, pretty gory) and I did a rewatch just before starting the MKAL. It’s pretty different from either Downton or Blue Eye Samurai but my husband and I have been watching Hacks (modern dark comedy about the entertainment industry) and really enjoying that as well. My other period drama/comedy comfort watch is Marvelous Mrs. Maisel which I may now have been inspired to rewatch too 😅

Since it is still technically a new town for you have you seen if there is any groups around like a knitting/crochet group or any other interests you have to see if there is people like you interest wise?

If you like Downton Abbey, I think you’d like Gilded Age (also on Max). Your brioche looks great, I would have never guessed it was your first time trying it.

If you have Netflix...I highly recommend an older show, Inspector George Gently. Largely recorded in Ireland. It's a bit old school but great background noise

😂 I am into mystical and magic fairy tale type shows. I just finished watching The Witcher for the third time! I think its a good series. I also watched Practical Magic and Hocus Pocus. Felt inspired to watch The Help after a couple of TH-cam clips and it was actually really good. I need some new shows too so I am looking out for recommendations too! Congratulations on 2k! 🎉

Congratulations on 2k subscribers!!! That's awesome! Your mohair looks great with your other yarns, especially on that second section of brioche where you reversed the colors. Gurl, brioche makes me cry! 😭 LOL I have tried it a few times and, especially with wool that tends to be unforgiving when frogging, I just can't do it. I applaud your tenacity to learn it and then use it. 👏👏👏 I'm watching Downton Abbey, too! Ha ha Going through that with my kids. Also, I'm almost finished going through the original Frasier and will probably go through Anne of Green Gables/Anne of Avonlea (the old versions from the 80s, not the new ones). Usually, during the Fall I like to watch the Anne series I mentioned, or Felicity because it's 90s/early 2ks Fall vibes (which I NEED since I live in a Southern state that barely gets an Autumn season at all). But, with the other things I've got going and watching TH-cam, I just haven't had a chance. If I'm sitting and watching, not doing anything else, I tend to go for crime/thriller or action stuff (mainly movies, but sometimes shows like Law and Order, Law and Order SVU, etc...), but dramas or comedies (like Frasier or The Office) are where it's at when I'm crafting. 😄 Keep up the great work and thank you so much for sharing! ❤

A show recommendation: me and my partner have been (re)watching the Granada Sherlock Holmes series and it’s been perfect for Octorber spooky times! Period costumes, funny, mysterious and the acting is wonderfully over the top. Love it! ❤

Hi, Escarla. Congratulations on the channel achieving 2k!. I was thrilled you went with the brioche option. I just started learning last week and once I finish my current 2 projects, might knit myself a 2 colour beanie. I've now fallen down the brioche rabbit hole and am loving it and excited. I'm thinking about doing the mkal next year. I retired last year, so no more excuses! I was watching Succession, but without any sympathetic characters, i didn't finish it. I'm a guy, so knitting and watching something at the same time isn't really advisable! :-)

I use GoodNotes too for my knitting patterns. I also watch Ken and Dane lol. For show recommendations, I'm usually watching anime (One Piece right now) or Bob's Burgers . I love Downton Abbey too, I have all but 1 season on DVD, it's definitely a comfort show.

The Terror on Netflix was a really good mini series. and I just watched the Chernobyl miniseries which has a lot of the same actors

High Potential on Disney+ so far is good. It's like Penguin in that they are releasing an episode a week. GBBO is another great one. Also, Abbott Elementary is hilarious. Def watch!

I just finished rewatching The Mentalist which is such a good background show, and of course if you love period dramas you can't get any better than North & South (2004). Those long clue two rows were killer, good job finishing on time! ⭐

Hey, Apple TV does slow releases like HBO. I finished Bad Monkey and it was pretty good. Shrinking interesting as well. If you like DTA, then you might like The Guilded Age … a lil drama 🎭

I haven’t even watched yet but I had to start over because I messed up stitches on my Brioche attempts! I tried to tink back and almost had it but I gave up and ripped it out. I am not even mad… anymore!

9:20 oh, it is so adorable to hear you baby breathing 💖 makes me want to have another baby, but my 2 almost grown-up kids are still plenty of job for me, so I guess i just wait for grandkids 😂 I am new to the channel, so I don't know if it's your first baby or not (congrats btw ❤), but I still give you a little tip. Babies are very sensitive to mommy's emotions. When my kids were babies, it seemed like they always were fussy when I needed them to sleep so I can do my things. With second one I decided to trick him and when I had plans and needed him to sleep, in my head I pretend that i have all the time in the world for my baby and not in a rush to do/go anywhere. I kept myself calm and relaxed (needs some practice), and oh wow, baby immediately calms down and goes to sleep, and mummy is free 😄 of course it only works if baby doesn't have issues like colicky belly, rush, he is fed, clean and warm.., then they really need their mummy. 12 years past from my last breastfeeding but your baby cries and my brain sends signal to my boobs to make some milk 😂 gosh, nature is so strong! Thank you for the recipe 🧡🎃

Hi, Escarla. I don't participate in the MKALs, but have kits for the Slipstravaganza shawl and the Starflanket blanket (which I'll probably start this winter). So, I pick and choose for future knits. Your shawl looks amazing, so far. I usually watch Stephen's updates, but your videos are a more concise and more fun way to catch up.

Love the vlog! Your video last year inspired me to do the MKAL this time around. However I’m BEHIND. Clue 2 is out and I’m just working on the first garter stripe triangle for c1. Question for all: are there other places community is gathering to talk MKAL progress? Ravelry forum doesn’t support conversation well. Instagram is too static. Maybe discord? This is my first MKAL so I was hoping talking and sharing would be easier I guess.
