Marson - Locksport
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 19 ก.พ. 2024
I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis back in Dec of '99. I've lost a lot to this disease and have most of the symptoms you see on the lists (fatigue, numbness, tremors, pain, cognitive stuff, etc.). I've had to leave many hobbies behind as things have progressed-auto-mechanics and photography to name two. I also have an essential tremor, so my shaking can get pretty bad. It made things like soldering pretty much impossible.
But I had Deep Brain Stimulation surgery in Nov '23 and it's been a life-changer! I decided to pick up locksport as a hobby to not only give me something mechanical to do again but as physical therapy for my hands. It's gone better than I expected! I mean, I don't get accused of approaching my hobbies half-assed, but a Goal Z open after only 110 days of picking *and* I shake that bad? I have a theory as to why, but I'll save that for a video.
I'll be using this channel to share my experiences in the hope that those in a similar situation will find it useful.

Mul T Lock Interactive w/ spools & milled inners - pick & gut - purple (3 dan)
I'm finally done! 4 spooled drivers + 3 milled keypins used to be ranked brown, but now it's ranked purple, the same as if it had just the spools. I had already gotten the kit from cmfxa with the milled inners though, so I wanted to pick the full spectrum. I found this combo much more difficult than the serrated pins, which is still ranked brown. I'm glad I got the full kit, but I'm also glad to be finished. Heh, I find find the recommendation of this lock (even the blue configuration) as a first dimple highly suspect.😂 I had an easier time with the brown D9, but then again, that's a Goal lock, and you know my love for Goals.

Goal S - Georgia Jim #GAJIM
มุมมอง 20114 วันที่ผ่านมา
For Georgia Jim's Subscriber Appreciation Giveaway @georgiajim2260 I love the Goal S. It's the lock that turned me into a die-hard Goalie. It was the first lock that I felt like it was telling me exactly which pin I should pick, even if it didn't seem to behave according to the normal jiggle test rules (it does, but not the way I understood them as a new picker). It's so smooth, it ruined me fo...

cmfxa here, just learned you have a TH-cam channel and it's been awesome seeing you work on the kit!
Thanks! It's a great kit! I feel lucky I got in for one of the first ones you had available.
goodjob bro im fighting with one of them lol
@@DutchLockPicker Thanks! Good luck on yours. 😊
Newly subbed also love the content 🎉
Thanks! Glad to have you.
@@Marson440 My pleasure 🙏
That's gorgeous 😍 great work ❤
🔥👍
Cool👍, very cool 👌
Дякую. Слава Україні!
@@Marson440 Героям Слава!! 👍👍💪
Congratulations Marson well done!!🤟🏻
Amazing achievement !!!!
Very helpful & thorough walk through
Glad you liked it! Thanks for letting me know. ☺
Wooooo hooooo! Great work! Such nice loud clicks on this one! Always a pleasure watching you pick my friend. So glad that you’re done with that one for good! 😂 Thanks for sharing! ❤❤❤
Thank you! Despite my trials with it, this really is a great kit that covers everything from green to brown difficulty. (This variation felt more like black to me, but I'm a terrible judge of dimples.) It's too good to just sit in my collection, so it's going to go back out into circulation one way or another.
Cyling man here. I really enjoy the ML dimples there feed back it great !. I picked and gutted the same lock. Well done sir ....................
Nice great job. If I'm not mistaken in the LPUBelts the Yale 500 and the 500 plus are both gutted on the pinning trays.
Yup! That's my photo. I wanted to make sure others didn't have the same issue. 😁
@@Marson440 😁 nice didn't look at the name sorry. But great work like your videos keep up the good work
@@Marson440 question I saw you on a stream with Lady locks and you where showing the 3D printing you made like the lock holders, the plug followers and the pinning tray. Question how can I get one
@@josuecrespo8386 The link to my Printables page is in my channel description where you can download the STL files. If you don't have a printer yourself, many local libraries have one and only charge you for filament costs.
@@Marson440 thank you
First real lock I got after an acrylic one was some cheap brand called Blossom that I just could not open. Ended up getting a master lock 140 after seeing a comment about them and once I got that open and learnt a surprising amount I went back to the Blossom and boom popped right open
Good job! I remember when your were interviewed and you had said you struggled with MTL. You’re slaying them now
Thanks man! Even once I got comfortable with the other variations, those milled inners were killing me. Crom, I have a whole long thing I've been composing in my head as a reply to your most recent vid. Short version: "That sucks! but good to see you posting."
This helped me a lot - thank you!
That's awesome. Thanks for letting me know!
Good video.
Eee. Aaaa😮
I saved this for future reference. So much good information and really thorough. Thank you for doing all that work and making a really helpful video!
I'm glad you found it useful and for letting me know. The feedback is great motivation. ☺
Ahhhhh the good old Master 3, it can't even be consistent 😂
It's not even consistently bad. It wanders between bad and worse. 🤣
😂
Great 👍. Nice video 🎉. Congratulations 🎊
Nice video. Great News 👍 Good luck 👍
Nice winnings, I love playing around with dimple locks. Something to pass the time away there 😂 Cheers for sharing 🙂👍
Thanks! I had a lot of trouble with them at first, but I'm getting the hang of them now. I got the Aba open on @LadyLock's livestream.
Congratulations
Thanks!
Hopefully the flag works well for you. I messed with it a little and debated thinning it down more.
I haven't used an AKAB style pick yet, so it's taking a little getting used to, but I'm liking it. It's definitely stronger than anything I've used so far. On my Sepa HDC, it's catching a little bit when withdrawing, so I'll probably taper the rear side of the flag a touch more to match the front, but I don't think it will need much.
Congratulations 👏🎉 😊
Thanks!
I feel like you secretly videotaped me working on my MTL lock 😂 I am still working on the purple belt version of the lock. Maybe this was the wrong first dimple lock to try. I just haven’t uncovered the lesson from this lock.
Heh. I can't be much help. The brown Goal D9 was easier for me than the blue MTL with standards in it. I have a hard time properly locating the inners. I haven't tried the milled version again since @LadyLocks stream where I realized I should take my own advice and just slow down, so hopefully that will help.
The only bent or twisted turners I like are the double bend ones from law lock, but only for CCW tension that I don’t need to manually counter rotate.
Yeah, the bent ones can be useful for in-hand picking or other ergonomic reasons, though I don't pick in-hand myself. I haven't seen a good use for the twisted ones yet.
I should mention that I think twisted tensioners are some of the worst out there. They are designed to flex. The idea is to prevent you from over-tensioning, but they teach you bad habits and absorb feedback. Springs absorb energy and therefor information. The looser the spring, the more information it absorbs. Think of a big Caddy with loose springs floating over bumps vs. a tight GT car in which you can feel every bit of texture in the road surface. Tensioners with actual springs in them should go right in the garbage.
And you usually get better feedback too when the tensioner feels more stable. 🙂👍
Absolutely! I'll use a flat bar if it's going to be more stable in the particular lock I'm picking, since that can override thickness. Ergonomics matter too.
Drill it😂
😧😂
Here before you do the thing (that’s you chat.)
Thanks for taking the time to make an entry and share. Good luck in the drawing!
Nicely done my friend
Great job! I really like the Goal locks as well. Lots of fun! Congratulations to Georgia Jim! Good luck in the drawing! 🥰😍😘
Thats rough man, im not looking forward to doing that to myself.
I was doing it to myself to some degree. As mentioned on @LadyLocks impromptu live yesterday, using a more custom flag size would help-and slowing down also helped *a lot*. It's something I suggest to people when they are struggling, but then I have to remind myself to do it.
That a true lock struggle.👍
HIT THE LIKE BUTTON GUYS!
The struggle is real! I'm with you here Marson! Keep it going and keep trying! That's my plan too. Good luck my friend! 😘😍🥰
I shouldn't say "unranked". It still has spools in it so it's ranked purple. It's just not brown like it used to be.
And why not be excited 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Well Done sir.
Congratulations Marson!! Man you are on fire!!
Should have used a master lock to open it
Maybe if the ML was molten...😆
Thats different to see
That spiral on the plug follower is absolutely genius! Thanks for making this video series. It has answered just about every question I've had, and some I didn't know I had.
@@TheLockDudeAbides Credit for the spiral design goes to Crispix. Brilliant, isn't it? Glad you liked the series!
You've made a beautiful cutaway sir. Looks awesome!
@@roysammons2445Thank you!
I forgot to mention it was done all with hand saws, files, and sanding & polishing--no power tools of any kind.
Wow that's Awesome Marson Great job 👍
I tend to find that so long as you use a steeper hook you can usually navigate the warding. I think you're spot on.
I often go around a low pin rather than try to go under it as well.
Congrats did you edit this because that seems too Fast
Oh yeah. Shorts is limited time, so I just snipped out the open. I did get it in 4:12, which is pretty good for a Z.
Очень хорошее видео !!!!! класс , респект.
дякую! Я дуже ціную це.
I love these locks well done
