Another excellent video done with professional quality. ❤
First time viewing your channel, gotta say...just Subbed! Thanks for sharing your Dash!!! - Davey.
@daveysdash Thanks. Welcome to the channel. I hope you like my videos. I'm working on more adventures now. I see you have quite a few adventures, too. Im checking out one now.
Cool trip! Really like your camping trailor. Ever thought of doing a video on that? I would really like to see what you've done with it.
@bigkemna87 Yes. I will try to do one soon on it. I have had a few requests. It is great as a base camp or as an overnighter on the way to or from my launch point. I have also stayed in it for a week or so on hunting trips. It actually is quite a nice accommodation. Thanks for watching.
Did this loop in May this year. Worst bugs I have seen in years. What were the water levels like? We watched them go down a few inches. Also got wind bound on Gong for 2 days. We had to clear a lot of portages as well. Also lost my good fillet knife in the Aubinidong, just below the canyon camp site.
@davidcook7008 I think spring is a better season for this loop than with the shallow waters I encountered in July. I couldn't even get to the portage out of Seymo. Wish I could have made it to Gong. Maybe next time. Sorry about your knife. It is always painful to lose a prized piece of equipment. Sounds like you had a good adventure though. Thanks for watching mine.
@@p3outdoors portage between Seymo to Gong is crazy, just over 2 km but it is along an unmaintained road. you can actually drive up to Gong and put in on the south west corner. The paddle across is really nice. The portage to Gong Creek is not too bad, only about 900 meters and easy to follow. I had a bear encounter there I was not too happy with! The rest of the route is along the Aubinidong West. Lots and lots of portages and wading. Not many camp sites.
@@davidcook7008 Good tips. Thank you.
@@davidcook7008 I would like to hear more about the bear encounter if you feel like sharing it.
have ya had Congress pizza in Ishpeming or Lawrys in Ishpeming ?
@mattofmichigan I have not. Are those recommendations? I have eaten at Jerzi's 41 Bar/Grill, though. They made a good burger.
Jerzis is awesome 😎 yes those are recommendations very good food and very nice people 😊
@mattofmichigan next time I'm there I need to try them. Thanks for the tip
Loved living down the road from here. Always enjoyed the sunsets and finding camps. Very cool video
@mattofmichigan I really liked it there. I hope to go back sometime soon. Thanks for watching
sweet paddel. whats it called. i'd like to get one
@cretan911 That one is made by Bending Branches and is a 280mm take down.
Nesting seagulls will attack
@@wlliammeloche3792 And attack they did.
Ranger on the gullrock lake system?
@@ryanfeek6927 No, it is the Ranger Lake near the Algoma Headwaters. NE of Sault Ste Marie
@@p3outdoors thank you and great video. What an adventure.
@ryanfeek6927 You're welcome, and thank you for watching and the compliment.
Spielberg quality footage of the ruggedly beautiful Canadian waterways with a heart touching tribute to a beloved brother. One of your best yet!
Thank you so much for watching and your nice compliment. Glad you enjoyed it.
Nice shots!
Thanks! Glad you liked it
Thank you Steven! Dad would have loved that trip with you! Now he gets to see those beautiful views for eternity.
@sallimorrow2366 you're welcome. Thanks for watching. I'm sure he would have liked it too.
Steve! I love the video. The lake trout was an awesome breakfast for us, thanks again. Did you end up getting to any lakes north of there? We never did get to the falls. We never made it to the falls. Wound up just headed home dreading the long drive haha
@@caseyrowe1520 A local told me that the other lakes would be as hard to get into as Saymo was to get out of, so I didn't try. I might try that route in the spring with higher water. Sorry you missed the falls. The upper ones are amazing. Let me know if you get to watch the Flack Lake video.
@@p3outdoors we're considering a road trip and/or flack lake next summer
❤
Beautiful. A true moment of Zen. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you. The full video is available, too. "GREENWOOD on the ESCANABA" or something like that. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for sharing the video
72 years old fished these lakes all my life grew up at barryton. i think the fishing was better 60 years ago but is not that bad today for the fishing pressure it gets...
I should have fished during that first calm morning. Once the winds came in, fishing became difficult to manage. Thanks for watching
Thanks for sharing. Our family camped at Tubbs Lake nearly every summer when I was growing up. We spent a lot of time fishing and exploring the lakes in Dad's little motor boat. I live in the U.P. now and am spoiled, but I may just have to come back some day for some canoeing and camping.
Thanks for watching. It was a fun little local trip, but the UP and Ontario are calling me. You are fortunate to live in the UP. What area are you in UP there?
@@p3outdoors Near Marquette.
@@p3outdoors Thanks.
@yooperventures2830 I don't know where my comment went, but anyway, I'll be checking out your videos. I really like the Marquette area.
A beautiful video. Thanks for the memories. My husband and I did this trip in 2003.
You're welcome. Thank you for the compliment and for watching.
Very nice photography. I like the touches of wildlife included.
Thank you. It's always a bonus to see wildlife on canoe trips
Very nice photography. I like the touches of wildlife included.
Nice work guys. I really enjoyed your documentary. I did the West ranch back in 2004 just like you from Sinker Creek to the elbow. I did the East branch 2 x in 1990 not as exciting as the West Branch.
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
The mosquito noises reminded me of memories I'd hoped to suppress
Sorry about that. I was very glad for the screen on my hammock that kept them off me. I think they liked the glow of my phone and gathered around it as I recorded that clip. Overall they weren't too bad on that trip. Thank you for watching despite the trauma
I really enjoy your canoeing and camping videos especially this one. I did a lot of whitewater when I was in my 20s through 40s. Sitting on my knees destroyed the meniscus. You are wise to sit instead of kneel in a canoe whenever you can.
Thank you for watching and the compliment. I hope to be posting some more canoe adventures soon.
Really nice wildlife you’re getting on film.
Thank you. It adds a bit more work, but I enjoy getting them as a big part of the story.
Nice video, loved the drone shots and the beaver bubbles. Also always wondered why canoeists do not use double-bladed paddles very much.
Thank you for watching and your feedback. On river trips, I usually don't use double-bladed paddles, but they are great in solo canoes on windy lakes.
@@p3outdoors that makes sense!
Very nice and soothing watching this low key adventure! Sharing with my Yooper Adventures With Nancy And Friends group!.
Thank you, Nancy. I'm glad you enjoyed watching it. I'm working on some new adventures now.
That is why I am here, thanks, Nancy.
Nice trip thatTy,, for shareing
Thank you for watching. More adventures to come
Very nice video. Beautiful area you found at peak colors. You saw a lot of deer.
Thank you, and thanks for watching. It was a spectacular little adventure.
loved the journey adventure trip scenery brill time well spent congrats sir.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching
"That got ugly"... the boat stayed upright, and dry. Good enough for me.
Thanks. Your comment made me laugh. By the end of that trip, I learned alot and was starting to enjoy the fast water.
You need to stop and do some more fishing
I totally agree with you. I'll try to give more footage to the fish on upcoming videos. Thanks for watching
What maps did you use for this :) I'm always up in Biscotasing every year.
I used an "The Adventure Map" Spanish River from Canadian Outdoor Equipment. They can also be obtained at various outfitters and Canadian Park service.
Looks like your paddling has improved since the beginning of the trip. Nice job! Get that knee fixed so you can kneel and you'll be pro😉 From a fellow hammock camper.
Thanks. It seemed like I was learning a new trick every day, and I felt like a more aggressive and less passive paddler by the end of that journey.
I paddle a kevlar Wildfire. Interested in trying out on this trip. What do you think?
@Bikerbobber Most the boats we took were RX Wildfires/Yellowstones. With the number of rocks I visited, I was glad I was in RX. Water levels were pretty decent for us. The cut of the wildfire is great for that trip. You might be skilled enough to avoid most those obstacles. Lighter would definitely be a plus on the portages.
I'm sure you've been told this before but, you need to kneel when running White water. Not only does it lower your COG , it moves you a little further forward, it allows you to control the boat with your thighs and it gives more purchase for your paddle.
Thanks for the sound advice. Unfortunately, because of an old knee injury, my right knee doesn't bend more than 90°, but I hope to overcome that someday. All my kneeling friends do so much better than me.
I've been watching the whole thing and enjoying it all. You captured so much detail that I won't have to do this route ! I do get a little dizzy though when you spin around in a rapid. 😁😁
It's definitely a river worth seeing firsthand. Sorry about the rotating canoe. I think I get better at preventing that by the end of that trip. 😵💫
Very nice tripping video. You know, if it was a video game, hitting every rock in the river would probably give you the highest score.
Thank you for the compliment and the hilarious comment. That made me laugh.
Definitely one of the better videos of the Spanish River. I appreciate that you included distances, campsites, and dates, as well as a slow shot of the map and your travels. Helps me in planning for this coming summer! This river has been on my 'to do' list. Thanks!
Thank you. It was a fantastic experience to run the Spanish. I hope you enjoy your trip
Awesome vid
Thanks Dave. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Great video dude! Still loving the outdoors I see. What kind of camera set and Drone are you shooting with?
Thank you. I use a GoPro 8 & 9, a DJI Mini 2, and for the zoom and macro video, a Panasonic Lumix FZ 300. Some shots are with my Samsung Phone.

уета, вот если бы заехал туда
I loved your video. I paddle lots and have always wanted to paddle this route your video lets us see the river close up before running it. Thanks so much! Great vid.
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Those must be toads, because only toads are weird enough to just sit there while you touch them.
What a beautiful paddle. Hoping to make the journey next summer with the family.
It was definitely a trip I'll always remember. You will enjoy it
Ptarmigans, Grouse, or what?
Saw several grouse on that trip and a few turned out in focus.
