Two Quirky Campgrounds in QLD | Ups 'N' Downs near Roma | Silver Wattle Caravan Park in Mt Morgan
Join us as we stay a couple of nights at a Caravan Park/Farmstay near Roma in Queensland. It was in a rural setting with lots of quirky things scattered throughout the grounds. Great to photograph the various animals that live there too.
We found the Silver Wattle Caravan Park in Mount Morgan to be an ideal base for discovering what the town of Mount Morgan has to offer and it's a lot!
These trips are the last in our 2023 repertoire . We are hoping to get out and about in our Jawa hybrid caravan in the very near future so stay tuned!

    Hi, enjoying the videos, just wondering how the Triton goes with towing the Solera van?

    • @aussietravelgold4873
      @aussietravelgold4873 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had concerns when I first started towing (and this is also our first caravan so a steep learning curve). Being a 6 speed manual I found that I was constantly changing gears to keep momentum and if I missed the right gear, it certainly became awkward. I then decided to have a dyno tune done and it has made a world of difference. The Triton pulls the van much better and I have found that I do not have to change gears as much and given the right circumstances I can easily tow in 6th gear. I would also say it has made the fuel consumption slightly better. Hope this answers your question and we are glad you are enjoying the videos. Thank you.

    • @aussietravelgold4873
      @aussietravelgold4873 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Shane, we are very happy with our Solera 12. It's a good size for the two of us both to stay in and tow. (We had not towed before). It's like a luxury home away from home when we go on trips whilst retaining the camping feeling. We did go for optional extras such as the dust reduction system (so far so good but we haven't been on really dusty roads yet); gas heater which we use sparingly but was great for taking the chill off during winter mornings and nights; lithium batteries - all these were installed by Jawa prior to handover. We have since had an air assisted roof lifter installed by Jawa as neither of us could lift up the front of the pop top by ourselves (we are both in our 60s). We mention this addition in our next video. We are having a great time in our van, hoping to explore the Flinders Ranges next year. Thanks for watching!

      Hi there. One thing I didn't mention in the video was that we had a dyno tune through Ultimate Diesel Tuning Brisbane. Our car is a 6 speed manual and sometimes selecting the wrong gear going uphill causes the revs to fall and the car slows. The Dyno Tune increased torque and power which makes it more comfortable to drive plus was more responsive with reduced diesel lag. I would see how the vehicle tows first. In the next few weeks I will also be putting on Maxxis Razr AT tyres to give me more confidence on rougher roads. Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier but we have just done a cruise around the Kimberleys which was just fantastic however internet not so great. All the best with Triton and Jayco, hope you have a great adventure.

    • @aussietravelgold4873

      Hi John, we chose the Solera 12 because we wanted something comfortable but compact - it ticked that box for us. We had upgraded from a roof top tent so we really liked the thickness of the mattress which we find to be really comfortable. We live on the Sunshine Coast and at the time we purchased, Jawa was close by in Caboolture (now they are even closer in Caloundra!) We have found their after sales service to be very good, unfortunately we have had to take it back to them a couple of times to get a problem with the inverter fixed and the electrical system looked at. Both problems were rectified at no cost of us, even though they shouldn't have been problems in the first place. In your research, you'll see that the Stealth 12 comes with lots of inclusions that are add ons with other companies. We like the Signature Iridium too, but at they time they were based in Sydney I think and we were looking during covid. We have recently had air bag lifters added for the pop top as it took both of us to lift it up. I believe the Stealth 12 has roof assist included. We are newbies at towing and caravanning so this one suits us fine.

      Hi there, glad you enjoyed our video! I hope you are enjoying your Lowdown as much as we are enjoying our Solera. The small line is a portable pegless travel clothesline (Korjo brand) which has metal hooks on each end which I thread through the spaces on the latches of the foldout when opened. I hope this makes sense? I unhook it when we pack up. It's very handy for smaller items.
