CANADIAN UNIVERSITY DECISION REACTIONS 2021 (u of t rotman, qcommerce, western ivey and more)
มุมมอง 17K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi everyone! This video is basically going to be about my uni reactions and also my uni choice in the end. This is getting posted so late, but i thought it would still be cool to share! Timestamps: 0:00 Intro 0:53 University Reactions 6:29 University Choice
Heyy, I have my assessment tomorrow, and they said I can prepare 2 questions in advance... just wanted to ask you, can I write down the answers to those questions on a piece of paper and then have that paper with me while answering the questions? And can I also have my resume with me during the assessment?
5/7 in business, 5/7 in english a l&l sl, 5/7 in spanish ab initio sl, 7/7 in biology hl, 7/7 in mathematics aa sl, 6/7 in chemistry hl - these are my semester grades as of my grade 12 November midterms (was at 6 for business and english before this in class tests). I want to work up to a 39/42 and I know I can because I went from a 28/42 in the starting of grade 12 to 35/42 now in my midterms within 5 months. I want a 7/7 in business, 6/7 in English. 6/7 in Spanish and I'll be sorted. Could you please give me any tips as to how I can get my predicted scores up? I'll have one month and that is December to do so as my applications are due January 1st and I will not be able to get into the universities I'm aiming for with my grades. Maybe I can ask for some extra assignments/tests or something like that??
Thanks
Thank You so much looking forward for more like this!!
What can i do to prep for ib
For some reason i cant seem to find the website you showed us in 5:40, idk if its the year or if the page got closed. Ty alot for the information tho...... :)
heyy it may have gotten closed - will try to send alternatives tomorrow when i get the time
you just saved my life with BioNinja
Thanks next week I have IB interview can u help me?
Thank you for this video, it was really helpful.
I’m going into IB, do u recommend any tips to not get caught up in homework all day, I’m also a typical writer and I overwrite on all my assignments. My weakness is English and Spanish, any recommendations to survive with a good gpa :)???
hey I have IB interview and assessment next week do u have any advice?
Can you send the website at 5:45 thank youu
how much did u get out of 45?
Do u recommend making notes for subjects like Biology? What did u do in order to understand stuff?
btw your teachers aren’t allowed to “edit” any if your ia drafts…
Excellent job! Can you elaborate a little bit more about your decision to go to Ivey vs Smith, i.e. the pros and cons of these two?
7:09 this is why I am here
Thanks for the info, may I ask when applying to UBC, are you required to submit your whole highshcool transcripts with IB predicted marks when you apply?
heyy i didn't apply to ubc but general consensus is if you are a canadian student who did ib, they do not look at ur IB levels, but rather the % it converts to. So if you have 6's in every class, that is a 96% or so in every class (not sure if they changed the conversion system)
@@emily227 Im a international though
I found out that I had to submit highschool transcripts but I’m not sure how important are the grades before IB
Thank you for the video, it was really helpfull
Helpful video, thanks
4:50 I was expecting 3s genuinely. I would jump with joy if I got a 5 in AAHL
THIS IS MIND BLOWING! I'VE NEVER SEEN A SINGLE VIDEO ON SUPPLEMENTARY APPS LIKE THIS. IT FEELS LIKE A FREIND'S SHARING HER EXPERIENCE AFTER GOING THROUGH THE PROCESS. SO GENUINE AND DETAILED. LOTS OF LOVE AND RESPECT FOR YOU.
U ARE SO SWEET! let me know if u have any questions
thank you! my school does ib but we don’t rlly have textbooks.. how do you study for that 😭 especially like chinese and individuals + societies :,D
heyy will get back to u on this! remind me if i dont reply by sun
@@emily227 thanks so so muchh :)) take your timee 🤍🤍
@@emily227 hihi :D so srry for the slight reminder! and ofc take ur time :,)
@@idklunaaomg yes! Thanks for the reminder! I would say definitely search up on the web potential textbooks - try to see what the official textbook is and find it yourself pdf or Amazon! Are you doing Chinese b? I think it would them be similar to when I did French. Try to read lots of TH-cam videos and get used to speaking it naturally everyday. Say 10 mins of convo every morning or on the way to school! Also search up key terms based on the 5 themes (I forgot what they were, but one of them was sustainability so search up all of the weird key words, like renewable energy, forest fire, sustainable, icebergs, etc) and practice using them in sentences! Also search up idioms for when you need to do rhe IA
@@emily227 Thanks so so much! I'm going to follow your tips for sure! btw, I am still in myp cause in our school we do IB literally every year, starting from pyp 1 to dp 2 or something like that. I will be taking French as my 2nd language. I am studying in hk that's why Chinese is a required subject for us to take. I am pretty fluent since I myself am Chinese, but the problem is everything i study outside of school doesn't get tested in assessments and the most i can manage is like a 5-7 on avg for most subjects (like out of 8). I want to improve but i have absolutely no textbooks/the textbooks i find are way too out of range so no matter how hard I study, i can't get a perfect/A+ kinda thing on every test i do, which is kinda frustrating.. I did try searching stuff up but then on top of all that textbook problem, our maths and science teachers barely teach anything during lessons and I can't find any good textbooks covering what we will be tested on in those subjects, as well as the main points.. so i have to blindly take my notes :,D Do you have any websites or stuff to help me improve on my mathematics? I will get a textbook like you said from amazon etc and practice of course!
If you get into U of T why even consider tier 3's like Brock, York. Western was a U of the past. Sauder #1 in 2020 did you apply there? I agree U of T sucks campus is run down and dorms are like Meh

What do you do if you want to study double major?
I'm taking French B HL but im not very fluent. Do you have any recommendations? thank you :))
Hi i got late for ib like 3 weeks cause i just got to know about this diploma....
GUYS. theres this mobile app called notion that i always always use to organize my schedule, deadlines and events and such, its interface is simple plus its super easy to use on the go or when you’re in a hurry, i would recommend watching some youtube tuts on it to get to know it better but its amazing if you don’t wanna be using a physical planner!!
All things i disagree with😅
Do you have any tips for DP programme? as a beginner I am kinda new to it so need help 😔
I started my IB Diploma Programme at a new school and it's my 2nd week right now I'm nervous about the future but hope I survive 🤲does anyone have any note-taking tips when studying in class? I should really organize while at the start.
hey I have IB interview and assessment next week do u have any advice?
Thanks! I have a question: Will I be more productive and sufficient using a tablet or will I be okay with using normal notebooks. I don't completly understand of how should you do your own notes. Greetings
completely up to you! it depends on your method of learning + note taking, some people like to hand write casue it helps them remember, while others value efficiency with tablets.. personally i like typing down notes in lecture settings, esp because i'm more of an oral learner
Ayeee, I'm so nervous because I'm about to start the IB and I have never taken any class like that before 😭 But I feel calmer after your advice
amazing!!
Hi! I have the same feelings about IB I’m so stressed about it bc english IS NOT my mother’s tongue, my history seems crazy so maybe it can help u, I jumped a class from french section ( as well french isn’t my mother tongue too) and I took maths chem and physics HL, so now i’m looking for some advices, also I haven’t taken ANY preIB class maybe my reply can help you, as well we are not only ones who stressed about IB

Hey Emily, this video was super informative! I know this comment is really late but I had a quick question about the top 6 grades. At 8:56 , you had mentioned that they look at your top 6 grades if you’re an Ontario student. Does this apply if I’m a BC student as well? If so, can my grade 11 courses and electives be counted into my top 6, even if they’re completely unrelated to what I want to study (ex. An art course)? Btw I’m interested in applying for U of T Rotman. Thanks again 🫶🫶
Oh and just wanna clarify that I do realize that my Calc 12 and English 12 will be counted in my top 6!! I’m just referring to my other 4 courses😊 Also, I will be taking English 12 in the second semester of my grade 12 year. Does that mean they will use my English 11 mark in replacement until I receive my English 12 mark? If so, does this mean I will be accepted/rejected at a later date (since they cannot evaluate me until my Eng 12 mark is released?) rly sorry for all the questions 😭
@@leiju39 np! so yes they will tenporarily use your g11 mark to give you your offer, but there will be conditional requirements to maintain the offer, they look at your final mark in grade 12 june to determine if u keep ur offer or not.. usually conditional requirements are lower than acceptance/rejection offers (for ex: keep an 80% average to keep your offer)
Can you tell me more about Schulich’s prestige as a business school both in Canada and outside of it?
Rotman is more prestigious internationally because it's connected to the UofT brand. Schulich is unknown internationally but it's well known in Canada.
ibresources doesn't let me use it! how did you get it to work?
❤
two questions about the early decision: do you pay extra for the early decision or are you able to pay the same price for both early decision and regular decision. also since most early decisions are done in december what grades are we supposed to send since our 12th grade grades wont be out by then
you pay the same! it just means they will get access to your application earlier, but doesn't necessarily mean u will get offer earlier. They will look at it on a rolling basis and use whatever most recent grade is available
Thank you so so much for the tips because as an IB student i have been really stressed and this video has helped me tons Thank you so so much !
it's totally normal to be stressed! feel free to ask other questions
Cant read, move txt upward
Other one is play the video and go to comments
I heard it was possible to switch an area in the Arts into something else. I was wondering if this was true because I was planning on switching an Art into a World Language. Also, thanks for the tips! I am going to do IB soon :D
I believe that you can switch nearly all the in school allow it Ussally group 6, and 4 I removed art fully in my case as my school allow it
how did it go?? sorry for the late reply! it depends on your school, at my school you could switch a science for the arts --> def talk to your counsellor

This is helpful. Thank you so much. I'm planning to do IB in this year. I'm taking IB French. Any tips for French? It will be a great relief for me....
Hi Tanuri, I'm super busy with midterms right now, will get back to you on this Monday!
Hey! So for French be sure to practice a lot, such as listening to podcasts, youtube videos, reading articles, it isn't something you can just study for the week before. Also be sure to learn some key words based on the units. I remember there being 5 main units from the textbook - well-being, sustainability and some other ones. If I was targeting the theme of sustainability for example, I might learn words like "climate change", "organic", "renewable", "energy" etc etc. Also some phrases such as "keeping the environment clean is important." Also learn 3 new words everyday cause it can be hard when doing the writing if you don't know what words mean and also it's hard to recognize the word in listening tests if you don't even know what they mean. Hope this helps!
@@emily227 Thank you so much for your tips. This will help me a lot. On the other hand I'm selecting IB Biology, IB Chemistry and IB Psychology. If you can please give me some advice. Your advices are very valuable to me. All the best for your exams and studies. Sorry if I may burden you...
