Cockpit Camera: Virtual Blue Angels #4 (VIAF 2022) Incredible formation flying!
มุมมอง 2.5K2 ปีที่แล้ว
This is the first-person view from the front seat of the Virtual Blue Angels F/A-18F Model Super Hornet. It is being flown by Roger "Dreadnaut" Sewell (that's me). Though there are some minor theatrical overlays to this video, this flight was filmed LIVE in one take at the Virtual International Air Festival (VIAF) held on Dec 10/11, 2022. The Virtual Blue Angels have been the headlining this sh...
Incredibly smooth and tight formation flying by the Virtual Blue Angels - VAF 2022 [Diamond 360]
มุมมอง 1.8K2 ปีที่แล้ว
This is some of the smoothest and tightest formation flying you will ever see in a flight simulator to date. At the Virtual Blue Angels, we fly the F/A-18E & F model Super Hornet in software called DCS World. The Virtual Blue Angels formed in 2004 and continue to practice multiple times weekly. We practice 2-3 nights a week, 10 months a year, to bring the best virtual air show experience to the...

Virtual Blue Angels - Why do we do it??

Ever wondered why we do it? Why do we spend so much time in a flight simulator trying to perfect the Blue Angels flight demonstration? Watch and find out! - Dread
Virtual Blue Angels - Legacy Team - 2022 (F-4J Phantom II)
มุมมอง 1.2K2 ปีที่แล้ว
This is the F-4J Phantom II being flown in DCS World. The Virtual Blue Angels have been around since 2004 flying virtual demonstrations live in the A-4, F-18C/D, F-18E/F, and the F-4J. The team has some incredible 3d modelers and coders that have also created every single aircraft the Blues have flown since the team's inception. All of those aircraft have only ever been flown together one time ...

Badger, I see you were flying slot in this sortie. Steady flying, Bud! All involved were rock solid.... I'd fly their wing, anytime. (I'll be the Newbie - I'm flying a bus these days, haven't flown form in decades). Burners
Burners!! We gotta catch up one of these days. DreadnautVS at gmail dot com, hit me up :)
Whats the weight of this aircraft??
149 TAS at 8 gph in a cub.. not happening, matter of fact there is a Facebook post in the big tire group that shows you were burning 13.5 gph
@tangodelta722 I believe the confusion is the image in the video is the one at full power and not the cruise power which is now posted in the description. 149 TAS 8.2gph 98% power (max continuous) 40.9MAP 5407RPM 15,500 MSL
@@DreadnautVS Dang! Do you remember which manifold pressure and RPM exactly?
@@andrewmorris3479 edited my post above to include that
@@andrewmorris3479 41"MP and 5400 RPM.
@@carboncubcolorado3121 Thanks!
Impressive performance
Game Changer! Great info on the UL, thanks for posting ! (I must have one). Jb
@@blancolirio can we get a deal if we build them together? :)
The real game changer is the Zlin Norden! Electric retractable slats, double slotted flaps, drooped tips, and an all metal wing pushrod controlled. Oh and it’s 70-100K cheaper too!
@@andrewmorris3479 haven’t flown one yet :)
Impressive ! What’s the empty weight ?
@@jetpylot7523 If you’re asking about the the Norden it’s anywhere from 845-930 pounds empty starting with a 916 iS and various options.
How much? $300K $400K???
You’re looking at $350-400k
@@DreadnautVS Yikes
NX Cub is my favorite plane in FS
Great to hear how you enjoyed the airplane Bruce!
what joystick and throttle hardware do you use?
Throttle - Virpil T50CM3 Stick - Thrustmaster T16000M
Great skill! Bravo!
So glorious. RIP Draco. Can’t wait for 2.0
DracoX is gonna be insane!
The... loses the engine.
No just one intake valve, that caused the backfiring ...
Mate that shit is sick ! I was going to say that's pushing your luck. Do you have many prangs
Trade that speed for altitude and all's well !
I miss you😢
Oh, NO!!! I am so sorry. Tina and I have visited Dreadnaught at your shop many times (with Model A club visits) and are fans of the Sanders Aero fleet!
Great Pilot doing that Pilot SIT...
Tried to talk to this guy in the pits, regarding this event. Turns out he was the only egotistical jerk i met out of all the racers and crew that i encountered. Seems like this may be his Karma.
No way. I've met and spoke to the Sanders people many times. They were in a very dire situation, you didn't get ego attitude, you got them at their worst moment when they needed to be left alone. Have a little respect.
@@ModelA If he needed to be left alone, why was he out talking to spectators? He made quite a first impression, and I didnt need a second. The interaction was in stark contrast to every other racer that I met during the week.
Joel is one of the nicest guys around. You must have caught him at a bad time.
@@MX304 Maybe so. But from my perspective, I had burned ALL my pto and my entire savings account in order to drive a 30 year old beater all the way from Vt and sleep in the car to see Dreadnaught. Heard in the parking lot that something happened in qualifying the day before while I was grinding out Nebraska and Utah. I admitted to him that I had only heard spotty information, and asked what happened, and whether there was any prospect of a repair in order to race. I can understand it might have been a sore subject, but I see no excuse to be rude to a fan. I was really put off, and discovered the race 43(?) N551H crew was very welcoming. Very humble people. I ended up liking that crew very much. Oh well. My first and only taste of Reno drama.
Let's get that onboard footage!
Let's get that onboard footage!
Did the propeller freeze?
Nope it was still turning

Ouch. That Wasp is not well.
Why can’t people hold their damn phone properly. This could have been so much of a better video.
Catastrophic failure, something that cannot be treated as catastrophic. Dmms. Dmms. Dmms. Alllllll good in the hood. Dont panic, maintain dmms, hit something flat and long. Youll live every time.
Sounds like she was trying to hang on until the very end there, glad you were able to get to the ground. Amazing footage
What a FABULOUS vid this would have been if the f^@!ng camera had been rotated counterclockwise 90 degrees!
Just think of all the children that died because his camera was vertical. The horror!!
@@DreadnautVS Which of the major studios do you think will be the first to release a full movie in the Millennial Format?
Was that the head and barrel coming off ?... hole in the cowling ?
A bird :)
Master rod bearing failed and caused a few pistons to make contact with valves. The backfiring you hear is caused by a bent / broken intake valve and the resultant backfiring trying to blow the induction system off. He's lucky the cowl didn't come off.
glad you got it back on the ground !
That's crazy.
Great reactions, and great recovery. Me and Dougal were both talking about you today!
What’s up chief!!
Shit luck man. You'll get em next year (If they actually race). 🤞
Handy having a runway there to land on… good engine out landing
Bro, wtf? All good?
Nope, going home on a trailer
Use landscape mode!!!
I’ll make sure to let him know…
@@DreadnautVS 👍😎
WTF Scarry
Fantastic pilot reaction. Trade abundant airspeed for precious altitude INSTANTLY. He gave himself enough time to grab a quick snack before landing safely.
Shame about the vertical video
I’m assuming the graphics in the cockpit are lowered so that there’s no chance of lag? Smart stuff
Running a 3090 at the time so wasn’t worried about FPS, it ran great. Running the 4090 now and it’s blazing fast.
@@DreadnautVS very nice! Love these vids man 🙏🙏🙏
Insane dread
Thanks man!!
You are really good! I wish I could see the curve settings from the controller.
Pitch is 17, roll is 14, and the stick spring is on which pulls the stick forward so constant aft pressure is needed.
