Pack Your Own Parachute - 12 Gear Check (PART 7)
Paul Gamble shows the most important part before boarding the airplane...making sure you do a proper gear check. Doing a thorough gear check is no brainer. It doesn't take long and setting in the good habit will prevent something fatal from happening.
Pack Your Own Parachute - 11 Close (PART 6)
Paul Gamble showing how to close the parachute container. Some things to be mindful is the condition of the closing loop, hiding the bridle, and doing a good job folding and tucking away that pilot chute.
Pack Your Own Parachute - 10 Stows (PART 5)
Paul Gamble show you how to make line "stows" while parachute packing. This takes some practice but be mindful of a few things: 2.5 inch stows ideally and maintain good line tension while doing it
Pack Your Own Parachute - 09 S-Fold (PART 4)
Paul Gamble will show the MOST difficult part to packing a parachute....the dreaded S-Fold. This PART is honestly like riding a bicycle or surfing. We could talk about it all day...but you honestly have to practice this section with a certified rigger or packing guru. Once you get a feel for the canopy material and handling it slowing into the D-Bag, I PROMISE.........it will get easier. Chin u...
Pack Your Own Parachute - 08 Flakes (PART 3)
Paul Gamble will show you what "flaking the canopy" looks like while PRO Packing and parachute. While this may seem tedious it guarantees cleaner openings and on heading. As you become more experience you can speed it this up.
Pack Your Own Parachute - 07 Brakes (PART 2)
Paul Gamble will show how you typically to "set the toggles" or "set the brakes". On older gear you often see velcro as the material and method for setting the toggles. Parachuting manufactures have all moved away from velcro on main canopies because velcro is the DEVIL! It will seriously had wear and tear on your lines and to be monitored carefully. My own risers and toggles in this video were...
Pack Your Own Parachute - 04 Packing Whole (Non-descriptor)
This is probably the first video I ever made a few years ago. I know, it's horrible! Still this is what what parachute packing looks like zoomed out. It''s certainly a non-descriptor but will give you idea of the process before we dipping into the PARTS videos.
Pack Your Own Parachute - 06 Line Check (PART 1)
Paul Gamble shows PART 1 to packing a parachute, the line check. A very obvious step to many experience jumpers and parachute packer, this step should be emphasized as VITAL! If you do not take the time to do a proper line check and get the basics down you might be in for a rude awakening upon opening.
Pack Your Own Parachute - 01 Equipment
Paul Gamble will walk through some beginner jargon and names for parachute equipment. These are the need to know terms to get a basic understanding of skydiving gear. Please ask your local dropzone rigger for information and always ask the Non-Bold Old Skydivers LOTS of questions!
Pack Your Own Parachute - 02 Canopy Layout
Paul Gamble walks from the layout of a typical skydiving sports canopy. This is meant for beginners and novices. The layout is one of the most surprising things that's difficult things to wrap you head around you're packing a parachute. It's always a good idea to get an idea what you're dealing with before attempting to learn how to pack.
Pack Your Own Parachute - 03 Parachute Equipment Sizing
My wife Kristen help me demonstrate the importance of proper harness sizes for skydiving. A harness too big or too small can mean the difference between a safe or dangerous jump. While this is pretty common knowledge for experience jumpers this is still a good reminder to tell novices and beginner skydivers before using or buying equipment!
Pack Your Own Parachute - 05 Overview of the PARTS
packyourownparachute.com Covers all the steps to main parachute packing for beginning and novice skydivers. This is a basic training aid I use for my students when conducting an in-depth Parachute Packing Course.

I jumped for years and a number one rule is to get instruction from people are trained and signed off to train others. For all new jumpers, do not follow youtube videos for training. Get your training at your dropzone.

Im a pilot and not a jumper, but, there HAS to be a special satisfaction in jumping a chute that YOU packed. When it works well, YOU made it work and in this case, perfection is more than a goal, it's everything. Great video, thanks for sharing !

Im not sure how i ended up here, and will likely never get to skydive, but i always made ny own parachutes for my action figures as a kid. I always wondered how they were packed. I always figured the flaps on the bag opened and the parachute fell out. Looks like the weight of the skydiver opposite the drag on the pilot chute pulls the canopy out of the container bag?

Do you have a video or recommendation for stowing the risers into the harness, situating the extra suspension line slack, and properly routing the pull up cord from the closing loop through the tray to ensure that it doesn't get tangled up in the suspension lines. And it appears that you set the bag into the tray with the stows on the bottom. Does it matter which way the closing flap on the bag is facing? Thanks

If you were to buy your first parachute, would you trust how they packed it or repack it yourself before the jump, which one are you? Ps. Of course you can ask a pro to repack or check for you, but which of the former if you had to choose?

There isn't a lot you can do wrong. Even though he was tucking in things here and there, once you start squashing it down, things move. We had a perfectionist packing his chute. It took him forever, even got his iron out to get out the wrinkles. [Joking] and he still had a malfunction. I was pretty quick at it, but I still did a flat pack. Somehow got it in the bag with a lot of punching etc. And I never had a fail, just a small line twist. So don't be to worried of being perfect, but don't be blaze about it. Anyway, I haven't jumped for a while, but your video makes me want to jump again and pack your way. Seems more comfortable then crawling around the floor. Thanks

That was my question, how important is each step, seems very complicated, would love to know what causes them to fail/have issues and how much of that is due to making a mistake in the packing process. The analogy I got was this is akin to sewing and making your bed, two things I'm not that great at, best I stay grounded!!
