i cried for you after watching this
The thumbnail is the older GMT isn't?
The same watch as in the video but yes the black bay gmt before the 58. The model launched back in 2018 but after they fixed the date wheel issue. I got this one about the same time they launched the opaline dial.
Good content!
@@bethapudiprudhvi3778 Thanks!
Buy a solid Chinese watch. They are far better than the low-end Seikos.
they have great build quality for the price and the NH automatic movements from seiko
That is true for many of these pieces what would you suggest at this sort of price point?
Interesting take - what would you be looking at for this sort of price point? I think most San Martins are out of this price point.
I understand that for many people who are "into watches", it probably means that you're into mechanical time-keeping, but for me (controversially), the most important factor is whether the watch accurately tells time, and doesn't deviate too much. So with that in mind, for me it's hard to understand why someone on a budget wouldn't just go for a Casio digital watch, or a quartz watch (as you suggest) without mechanical movement until they have saved up enough money to buy a mechanical watch that can actually tell time accurately in a lasting way -- after all if you have to sync your watch every week, or even after a few days, it would make me feel like it's the worst of both worlds. I'm not a watch expert by any means but as I understand it most watches under $500 will drift about 20 seconds per day. If you want to get down to about two seconds per day, you have to pay 10x as much. While 20 seconds per day might sound acceptable to a lot of people, there are situations in most "normal" lives where minutes matter, like when getting on a train. Imagine forgetting to "maintain" your watch for a month and missing a train because your watch is already more than 8 minutes off the mark.
Very well put - I think it's very easy to lose perspective that a watch fundementally is there to keep time.
The AE-1200 is a great watch (i give it away as a present for friends sometimes). But is it much greater with a Stainless Steel Case and Sapphire from SKXMod with Jay and Kay adapters for strap options. Then you can compare it to a g-Shock. :-)
With a little bit of an upgrade sure, have you ever managed to break an AE1200? While the G-shocks are more rigid no doubt - is it actually neccessary? I'm not so sure.
@@Dougs_watches, well, it looks and feels tougher and its more scratch resistant. I got the blasted case from SKXmod and polished it slightly with my Dremel. Now it has a nice industrial look. Neccessary? No, of course not. :-)
@@knutjunker2019 That sounds like it looks great!
after giving up on the swiss, my first mechanical was one of these with the 7S26 movement. It keeps ok time, but the build is disappointing. Also, the lack of winding and hacking was a real let down. The Seiko NH and 4R movements are exponentially better. They keep excellent time, and have the aforementioned features. Any watch with one of these movements is a great bet.
What are your thoughts on the display case back with most 7S26 pieces? I'm not really a fan as while interesting the movement just doesn't seem that 'pretty'.
@@Dougs_watches While I am fascinated with all things mechanical, the 7S26 isn't a particularly flashy movement, nor are most of the Seikos. They are well constructed though. The 7S26 is kind of a dinosaur today.
I'd love to see a video about Tag Heuer F1 of yours. I wanted to buy myself one so it would be very helpful.
Sure! I'll get it on the list. I sold it awhile back but I'll be able to piece something together!
It’s too similar to what they already put out for me. No innovation
Might be right there, often designs are called evolutions (Look at the Sub) - but this for such a long time just might not cut it!
The most hated Patek will be the most love Patek in 20 years lol.
More than likely - pretty sure the aquanaut would of had some hate when it launched!
There are alternatives out there, you know.
Good picks. I love a good in house movement. I’d definitely take #2
Great tastes!
Don’t forget the c12
A brilliant piece - was trying to stay at the same price point
@@Dougs_watches fair Point
Or...just get the PRX, it's a magnificent watch and far better than any of these picks.
A great piece but not to everyone's tastes. As ever wear what you like and brings you joy!
Great picks
Thanks!
Hi:)
I will never sel my Tudor gmt. It is a beast of a watch the grey dial in the sun unbelievable wauw
You deserve more views ❤️ great video, as always! Keep going! I suggest you upgrade your audio somehow, either your mic or mixing…
Thanks, slow but steady progress. And yes I am working on the mixing / audio set up surprisingly the hardest part (for me at least)
I'm genuinely impressed with how close MAMACOO were able to replicate every aspect of this very very goofy looking classic watch.
Personally have “perfectly useless morning”. Work of art that reminds you that life is more than functionality, success, material wealth. Life is about joy and peaceful spirit with blu sky, sun, and carpet of autumn leaves.
@@Harker7171 Well said!
Great watch! I actually got my first tudor last month. Got the Ranger, loving it! Awesome movement. It gains 1 second a week.
Very nice when I came Tudor I decided I needed either a GMT or the Ranger. A rather attractive simplicity.
@@Dougs_watches we must have a similar taste. I actually liked the GMT as well but went the other way. (Basically because it was more budget friendly)
@MrN_22 Great minds think a like!
My dear you need a dentist. Unwatchable.
Nice video. I'm just now getting into watches, do you have any recommendations for a watch to be worn in a corporate environment that is preferrably under $6000? Thank you. Have a good day. I like your glasses
Thanks! You won't regret it under $6,000 and corporate suitable. You've got a lot of choice! Even more if you're looking at the used market. I had a similar criteria and got my Tudor Black Bay GMT. Just because you can spend more doesn't mean you should. I'd maybe not want to risk the scorn of my boss and avoid an older Rolex if you're junior. Instead a Longines Zulu Time, Seamaster 300m or on the dressy end a Grand Seiko SBGM221. For your first watch start with a solid all rounder and you'll do fine.
Good ideas all around! You seem like a guy who knows his stuff.
I try
What up Theon Greyjoy
Thank you for your review. Actually I am in the process of choosing my first "serious" watch. I have tried on your watch several times and each time I put it on I really enjoyed it. I have tried on many brands and models, but this one (and also the Rolex Yacht-Master 40 126621 Stainless Steel & Rose Gold) is the one that really brings me joy. What stopped me from buying this watch was the release of the new BB 58 GMT. I tried to find it in several stores to try it on my hand - but I have not yet been able to find it to make my final choice. Have you tried on the new BB 58 GMT?
@aleksandrsposts3484 Glad to help, I went to but saw it in the window and knew it wasn't for me simply because I'm not a fan of the coke colour scheme. It seemed a little old, not retro cool (to myself at least). However I have tried on the regular 58 and enjoy the more dainty proportions with the sturdy build quality
Hey, great review! I just subscribed. I'm literally in the same boat - Tudor got me hooked, and I've started creating content myself. 😂❤
Flipkart and Myntra beat Amazon in the deals.. Myntra for G-Shocks and Flipkart for Edifices. People claimed they got 5600UE under Rs 4K and one person claimed he got GA-B2100 for around Rs 3K on Myntra. I bought 2 Edifices at discounts close to 50% on Flipkart !
Yes it is the best!
@@SBG_Paranormal At least someone agrees with me!
@@Dougs_watchesabsolutely! The value is unbeaten! 🔥🔥🔥
I have always preferred dress watches. My absolute favourite is my Omega cal.712 case ref 167.021. There is something just so subtly classy about an ultra thin dress watch. I find it so un intrusive and elegant that you can wear it with pretty much anything. T-shirt and jeans or shirt and tie.
Very true, brilliant pieces to dress down!
Grabbed the London Agate from Baltic direct - it’s gorgeous. And luckily picked up a really cheap lapis Paris on eBay. So now I probably need the New York!
Quite the collection, love it!
Nice Bugatti poster Doug. I lost my last World Time on holiday, thanks for the reminder to replace it 😎
@DANGMOE Thanks! Make sure you do, it's one of the biggest joys in my collection

Vintage American mechanical watch. I.e. Bulova, Elgin, Waltham, or gruen. Cheap and parts are easy enough to find.
Vintage smith or oris would be my choice..👍👍
I keep trying to find reasons to sell my BB GMT… but I invariably come back to one simple fact: I really like the thing! I have tiny wrists for a guy. According to the internet, this thing has no business being on mine... but, damnit, I enjoy it! Nevermind it keeps outstanding time, lasts for days on its power reserve, and feels basically bomb-proof.
Ignore what people say about watch size, if it makes you happy wear it with pride!
Keep doing what you do best 🎉
