Lego Powered Up Tutorial #11: using the remote control (88010) and multiple hubs [English|HD]
This time we won't talk about using the touchscreen to control our models but the actual physical lego powered up remote control (88010). Keep in mind that the app still has to be running in the background. The same trick can be used to use more than one hub in one program.

Lego Powered Up Tutorial #10: touchscreen control layout designer (lights for 42099) [English|HD]

It's time to remote control something, in my case I use 4x4 X-treme Off-Roader (42099). You might ask why I don't use the control app. The reason is, that you can't use lights (8005) in the official control layout. But it's pretty easy to add lights to the car with the powered up app. Links: Playlist: th-cam.com/play/PL00ZyO20EaHEW-CR96JYvemREyfjtxu6h.html Discord: discord.gg/EqnUDsF

Lego Powered Up Tutorial #08: speed vs position measurement & how to use numbers [English|HD]
มุมมอง 338หลายเดือนก่อน
Today there are a few basics that we have to talk about. First of all, most of the motors can measure their speed and their position. We can use that in projects. Secondly, we start to work with numbers. Links: Playlist: th-cam.com/play/PL00ZyO20EaHEW-CR96JYvemREyfjtxu6h.html Discord: discord.gg/EqnUDsF
Lego Powered Up Tutorial #07: a simple autonomous car [English|HD]

Some LEGO Powered Up fans have been waiting for this for a long time but now it's possible to connect XBOX video game controllers directly to LEGO Powered Up Hubs to remote control them. How do you just make a motor go left and right with a slider can you make a tutorial for that because I am making a turret but just need the turning left and right mechanism
How do you make it work going left and right using a slider???
My only question is it pybricks compatible?
Sadly we won't know that until it comes out. But that would be so cool
Hello and thanks for this. Do you know how to make the LEDs blink constantly? For example, as turn signals, or signal lights on planes.
That's pretty simple. Infinitely Loop {Turn LED on, wait X seconds, Turn LED off, wait X seconds}. Hope you understand this "notation"
@@technicmaster0tutorials Yes, it works! Thank you!
very disapointing that you cant control speed of the scrolling message will it be possible in python? thanks
Whaaaaat does that mean spike prime is being discontinued i wanted it so bad 😔😭
From what I've heard it won't be discontinued. It's the "robotics/programming" platform while the new sets will be the "interactive" platform (but without programming)
@technicmaster0tutorials does that mean spike prime's price will grow up
I doubt it but I don't know
You will make a guide on what xyz blocks are in the Lego powered up program
What do you mean by xyz bocks?
first btw
thanks
How did you learn this 🤔and thanks for helping me👍🏿
What do you mean?
Dosent work
Thanks , I already know that but please, keep making this video on that topic 🙏❤
Just wanted to say thank you. My young son was very excited to get lego motors for christmas. He is still a bit too young to get the block programming to work and so this is a very helpful fix for directly connecting to the lego remote! Maybe in a year or two ill introduce him to your other videos!
You're welcome :)
I used this color sensor but for me it is not good (the sensor is not stable and does not recognize colors correctly). I do not know if this is due to the distance from the tested surface or the speed of the train.
It can also be the ambient color. Yes, it's not very precise but I think that it's good enough for simple train layouts. Another idea could be to put the sensor to the side of the track and connect it to a second hub. But that's just an idea and multi hub was not covered in this tutorial yet.
Hello i have a question how do you code it so the remote can move motors without using widgets? Please and thank you
This is the topic for... probably part 11 so that will take a while, sorry
@@technicmaster0tutorials that's fine ill wait 😊
Hi, sorry for the question. I'm using scratch. Is it the same? Is this just another version? Will appreciate your answer. Thanks.
The programming language is similar but the underlying code is probably very different to the software made by lego.
Thanks for the tutorials, keep em coming! You're the only one right now on YT with decent tutorials! Im gettting the hang of it but struggle with more complex stuff. Like how do you control multiple functions? So if the sensor sees blue do this, for red this and green that. (in any order)
How can use the red button for a function in the powered up app?
You can move the block to a place without a connection to the top and check the numerical outputs
is there a way to control the chinese version of servo motor with a remote control?
Similar to PF but they usually don't have 7 steps per direction
Great video! It helped me a lot! But a small thing, `light = Light(Port.C)` will be not working.
according to the pybricks documentation it should work (if you have a light plugged in). But you have to make sure to import everything. Do you have any error message?
Hi if the hub is used, any way we can connect the monster motor, as it has the brick connector
Which hub and which monster motor?
So glad you decided to redo these tutorials due to the update in the coding blocks. As a keen Lego builder I would also like to say thankyou for introducing me to coding at the age of 69, lol. I have previously built Lego sets which had movement or lights but have just built a custom build which is a mine. I have successfully added movement using your instructions but also have two lights that I am struggling to get the right coding. So I'm really looking forward to your new version of the previous candlelight tutorial. I've managed to get the lights to turn on but would like to set it so it has a " flicker" and then turns off independently of the movement. Currently, I'm having to use the green play button to turn the lights off but that also stops the movement which is not ideal. Do you know how long it will be before you do the new version of the candlelight tutorial? Many thanks for your tutorials so far, and don't worry about your accent your instructions are very clear and extremely helpful.
Making these tutorials is a real time problem. I've started to have some things where I have social engagement and that's stealing most of my time. I might upload a few parts before christmas but I think that the LEDs would be somewhere around part 10 which is a long way to go. Another problem is that some things don't work so good since the app switched to the new design where I have to find workarounds for. But for that (and to test if the code still works) I have to rebuild all the things I've shown in the video and that is additional work. Anyways. Thanks for the feedback and I will try to upload a few new parts until christmas, but I don't promise/guarantee anything.
Good video. Shame on lego for not making am effort to combine all this. Shame they also retired the line. Shame Pybricks had to do the work for them. I feel betrayed. All parts interchangable tru the ages! Yheaa, complete lie.
It's great with pybricks tho
Is there a way to control a tv for example with this?
sadly no. It's limited to the powered up protocol.
I'm new to powered up. I'm getting stuck with trying to loop my instructions. I'm basically running a subway train which departs slow, finds green and accelerates to a moderate speed until it finds blue and slows down and then finds red and finally stops (at the station) for 10 seconds. It should then depart the station and find further colours. I'd like this train to repeat the instructions throughout my layout, but I'm unable to loop the instructions. Can you help?
Part 5 might help you there :)
Thank you so much. It shows, that even on YT you can find quality content.
I am trying to differentiate 2 different objects using sensor '. there are 2 of each type .one type i want to collect and other type i want to push . how do i make a list . all four items are randomly placed .
Please, show how to use controllers. I think that I need to add controller button, add apropriate button block to power socket of motor block & choose right channel. But it not working. I do something wrong. Automatically, all works fine. Because, for now, you are only one who make review of new Power Up software.
What do you mean by controllers?
Powered up Can use two hub together ?? Because i have two set need to use.
You can use 2 hubs with one powered up app, yes
misses the single most important point "how to enable Bluetooth discovery mode" on Technic Move Hub
Work same way hydraulics work just no oil and alot cleaner
Horrible accent.
is it possible to connect the wedo hub to the lego powered up app?
Sadly that's not possible
Ciao I’m using powered up to control the liebherr lr13000. Because I’ve modified some parts the standard app doesn’t work properly anymore. So I’m recreating the commands. Till now all works even the retiurn on “zero” position. Now I’m starting to put some limit to the movements. Can’t figure out how to do. First I tray to put a stop button on the return on zero. No success… then I give up and start to figure out hot to stop the manual movements at zero and the upper limit… no clue! Can you give me some advices? I’m not good to programming.. thanks!!
I'm not exactly sure what you want as I don't have the model, but maybe you can try to "map" the actual motor values to the values between 0 and 100 or -100 and 100 with a mathematical function. You will have to add or substract something from the actual motor value to get to 0 or -100 and then you can use multiplication to get the "area" between min and max value to 100 or 200 (depending on if it's from 0 to 100 or -100 to 100). In the end, you will want to have something like motor angle = (slider value - offset) * sliderRange/motorAngleRange I think
Wow
Nice video! Can the old 9V lights and sirens be powered by the powered functions through the adapter cable?
I think so. The "normal" lights work for sure and I don't see a reason for the sirens not to work, but I didn't test them.
@@technicmaster0tutorials I made a PF -> 9V cable yesterday and it's working great 😄
i woud love if lego made some cables so i can connect my powered up system with my 9v ligths and sound. I also wonder why are there no studs on today huns? Shame on lego :(
@@henribg1 It's not that hard to do yourself if you have an old 9V cable and a powered functions cable.
"how to " --" go read these other isntructions"...ok
You can also try to copy the build from the video if you really don't want to use the instructions. But it will be much easier to use them ;)
😮
Hi, thanks for the reboot! You say in both versions of the video that large motor, xl motor and angular motors work with both the powered up hub and the boost hub. I finally managed to get my motors working with the powered up hub after forcing an upgrade of the hub Firmware. For the boost hub, I finally found out how to force Firmware Upgrade through the powered up app... But my motors are still not recognized through the powered up app when connected to the boat hub. Only the boost motor is recognized. Is there a special way to proceed to get the appropriate boost hub Firmware Upgrade?
Hmm. It worked at one point for sure but it's possible that the boost hub can't be used with the "large" motors anymore :/ It will probably still work with pybricks but it might not work with the official powered up app
I usually use a power bank for my RPi, like a power bank you use to charge on the go. I'm pretty sure you can power it via the GPIO headers too?
The pi needs an external power source for the lego motors since they use both a higher voltage and more amps than most pi accessories do (it can be around 7.2V with 1A which would be 7.2W). For example a normal RPI 3 power supply does 5V and 2.5A which would result into 12.5W. That's more than 7.2W but not enough to also power the RPI at the same time. Most lego sensors work fine with 3.3V but I used motors, too. The Pi is powered via the hat which uses the GPIO pins if you use the build hat with an external power supply. /edit Another thing to keep in mind is that the hat as 4 motor ports. That would result in 4*7.2W=28.8W. That's probably above most RPI power source specs.
How do you Connect that hub mine only wants to Connect to the moving hub?
What do you mean?
You have an accent, but I can understand you just fine.
That's nice to hear :)
is the xbox one elite controller supported?
Only the Elite 2
Thank you
Thanks for the tutorial! How to access the community page in the mindstorm app. It seems to have been disabled and I can’t click anything on the page.
For me, the download all button still seems to work within the community page. I'm on windows tho.
please make a video on most of the new codes represent with examples, and we hope to see with the new codes.
Can you explain what you want? I already started a tutorial series with the new user interface
How can I make a lego motor turn 360 degrees every time and stop in the same place?
You would either need a powered up motor or something like a touch sensor. Otherwise the motor doesn't know "where it is".
I honestly would have never figured this out without your tutorial. Thanks so much!
You're welcome :)
How do i can change the driving direction of the motors, i dont want to make extra transmissions into my cars
You can multiply the speed value with -1. That makes negative values positive and positive values negative
@@technicmaster0tutorialswhere is the speed value? Im not very familiar with control plus and powered up

Can I use PS5 DualSense or any other PS controller instead?
I talked about that in the video. It's not possible because Playstation controllers use BTC (Bluetooth Classic) while XBOX and LEGO hubs use BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy).
life saver video thank you
