Beyond the Blastdoor
Germany
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 29 มี.ค. 2017
During the Cold War both NATO and the Warsaw Pact prepared for a nuclear confrontation. For many years I have been fascinated by and studied the massive scale of Cold War bunkers and buildings that are located here in the heart of Europe where East met West. Join me in my series of videos as I document these once top secret objects and show you what it means to operate a bunker that could have withstood nuclear war - beyond the blastdoor!
Commented tour through a Cold War bunker
This video was originally taken for a small group at the time debating nuclear war in relation to measures to protect against it, mainly Civil Defense.
As I just so happen to run a pretty formidable bunker that had a CD role, Richard Hill (the narrator/cameraman) and I took the opportunity for showcasing the ventilation and air filtration system with not the most serious attitude.
I think it turned out to be a fun little piece to show, don't take anything that's said for face value since my British friend likes to joke around ;)
The bunker shown is called Warnamt II, I'm the chairman of the association operating it: www.warnamt.de

It should be a criminal offense that you're excellent channel has so few subscribers I'm a huge fan Love it Love everything about it
Great bunker 😮
Do you have more videos? What about the other rooms? Any laboratories?
Why’s wearing that get up???
What specifically does the German sign to the air filtration area say?
at 0:21 the one above the door says "Sand filter" and the one on the right says "Danger! Do not step behind the door!"
at 9:34 the door says "filter room. Please close door" and the red one says "Space filter room. Danger of radiation!"
@@bavarianmonkey8326 ok, thanks!
So in “the situation” that air filtration room would then be off limits. The simple design ensures no need for maintenance. Maintaining air filtration in such a situation potentially would mean death for all inhabitants, thus it had to be as simple as possible.
That Bunker is in an amazing state of preservation. Wow
The graphics in this new fallout game are amazing
Wow beautiful condition 👏
Soooo Awsome i want my own underground bunker :)lol
im questioning why both are in such suits
WOW! It is well maintained and still working, after what 50-60 years.
Gibts das auch in Deutsch?..... My english is very terrible ;)
Holy cow, almost 500 subs now and a viewcount that surpassed my expectations - don't worry, I'm still alive and active on the bunker project, I just can't find the time to produce videos that are up to my standards atm. I made up my mind on how to start a video series on Cold War bunkers and how to do an introduction to it all recently though, there will be more to come this year :)
he pressed 1147272* huhuha. (derives from a birth date born 1972)
Don't worry my dude, the door was already unlocked and I just typed in random numbers - but very keen eyes ;)
Great video. I found this one in Australia if anyone is interested. :- th-cam.com/video/BVkqwAwQHHE/w-d-xo.html
I'm pretty sure I know the password, blur out the whole hand if you want to keep other clever people or dumb computer programs from making an educated guess
Jesus freaking Christ, how did they suck air through that much quartz sand?
Let's hope those grey filters don't hit anyone!
Holy shit this is so cool
It will be around the 7th time I redid the video by then but expect an update video on October 3rd :)
This was indeed an interesting peek into the working mechanics of a Emergency (Nuclear or otherwise)Shelter. but it doesn't really address the question upon which this presentation was supposed to be based.
You are completely correct - the title stands in correlation to the mentioned discussion on facebook and doesn't really make sense without the context of that discussion - I plan to clear things up in the videos to come!
its got to be said, that Bunker is in Lovely Condition.
Question at 10:04 are those Hand Cranks for the Filters in case of Power failure?
@@88HEATHENWOLF you are correct! There were 6 in total, not all rooms would've been ventilated in that case.
@@BeyondtheBlastdoor yeah I've seen them over here (UK) in ROTOR bunkers but never on that scale, like I said in my comment before the restoration job you've done on it is lovely.
Nice to see things getting started here. I'm exited to see more in the Future If you are in Germany I can really recommend visiting the Bunker if you have the Chance to.
There's such a cursed energy to this video with the borderline silent dude demonstrating all while in PPEs ... I love it
Cheeki breeki...
Is a nuclear war survivable? Yes, but not for humans.
Depends heavily on the level of escalation - if we are talking 'ICBMs leaving their silos' you are absolutely correct, for tactical uses it can have many implications ranging from very limited numbers of warheads used to a devastated central Europe. Also it was asked in context to the Cold War ;)
You won't eat 31 year old tinned food? This is a job for @Steve1989MREInfo
Is it possible to live in such a place?
If you can pay for heating :D I will definitely get into detail of life in the bunker in later videos :)
@@BeyondtheBlastdoor we're still waiting lol
@@karlo916 there will be an update video soon, expect it on october 3rd :)
@@BeyondtheBlastdoor Great to hear, looking forward to it.
Amazing! Please make more videos of the bunker
That was really cool. The place has been very well taken care of. It amazing to see them in such good shape. Great video, thanks for sharing!
