    • @angrygoldfish9607
      @angrygoldfish9607 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My favorite weapon for clan members is this axe in the long variation. It's long enough that the AI has a reasonable chance to land their shots, even on horseback. It's fast enough that they can get their attacks in between blocks and the two handed axe cleave effect means that they'll be reasonably effective even when outnumbered. If you want them to use a one-handed weapon and shield I recommend my long sword. Opinions do vary however. I've heard it said that the best weapon for them is a crafted short version of the romphia. What I've personally found to be the best is this axe, 2 quivers and a noble long bow on horseback (with the perk of course). Watch any of the episodes of my Black Lion Campaign to see how effective that can be.

    Ngl I usually dont like to use axes for mounted combat. It feels like the only situations in which you will use the cleave ability are in fights that are already won. But I do love my short axes for keep defenses and offenses. I use one with 104 swing speed, which was the most I could get. Like super short, super fast axe. I usually take a lot of hits while doing it, but sometimes its worth it. Like sacrificing hp for sheer dps. Necessary if the gate is breached

    • @angrygoldfish9607
      @angrygoldfish9607 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, I've tried axes like that and they seem really bad. Not just for the reasons you mention but because they are so short they often don't have the reach to take advantage of the fact that axes can cleave. This axe has enough speed to keep them blocking, which helps to keep you safe, and enough length to keep you far enough away from the enemy that you aren't automatically taking every attack they think about sending your way and it has enough reach to hit more than one target. When you are packed tight in a scrum an overhand attack will usually hit with most any weapon that is meant to be used in melee, that is if it isn't blocked. Without the reach, you're better served to use a 2h sword. You can make a falx blade that is silly short with 116 speed. My favorite weapon to use in a scrum is actually my halberd. It has a base damage if 201 and can kill with crush through damage even when blocked. It has a length of 120 but I can spam those overhand attacks and make enough space for my boys to take the upper hand. Anyway, that's my take on short weapons. I'm glad you found something you like that works for you. Thanks for watching.

    • @alex2005z
      @alex2005z หลายเดือนก่อน

      @angrygoldfish9607 the cleave works because it's not a tightly packed area, it's just me on my own on one of the sides vs a horde of enemy units usually (usually I have archer support). And you don't need to block if you just kill them first. Even if I do get hit by the guys I didn't kill, my attacks buffer trough so I don't lose any moment of attacking. And since I have amazing armor and almost 200 hp, losing 70-80 hp to pushback a gate breach is worth it

    In my campaign, i am almoat entirely using a Glaive. Well I made some glaives of my own, Masterwork Glaives at that, gave one to every companion and family member. With the use of a mod, I can have higher skill limit (I put it up to 500, with 0.5x learn as minimum) and added a slash through mod. It is honestly the most satisfying thing in the game, going in and slashing through so many troops at once. If you want to try Glaive, either find one or use the following parts : Glaive head (mid size), Black tail thing (either leave at mid or change it slightly), hardened oak shaft (mid size) and either nothing or any bottom part that doesn't change stat.

      @angrygoldfish9607 although I made a small change in my glaive recipe so that I can actually craft legendary versions of it. Same with the fast axe I used, just changed 1 part to T5 so that I can make legendary. Because as you probably know, in order to be able to craft masterwork and/or legendary weapons, the average tier of parts must meet a minimum threshold (4.5 for legen and 3.5 for masterwork). I only recently learned this after it looked it up 😂 my character in game makes great use of these weapons, he is a literal killing machine.

      Doesn't it make you kinda sad when you watch people play this game and they're not even trying to optimize their combat experience? They're like "I'm gonna put all my attribute points in social instead" and I'm thinking, well for one it's great that the game accommodates all kinds of players but... they'll never know the joy that is being a devastatingly destructive force on their battlefields. I'm glad you're optimizing and enjoying the game for all it has to offer.

    • @Hagurmert
      @Hagurmert หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@angrygoldfish9607 in my first playthrough, my character was focused around having high social, intelligence and bow skills. I saw myself struggling in combat a bit at that time. This time, my character is way too overpowered with all of these combat skills. Because I had this mod (XP.tweaks) and raised cap to 500, my guy has 260 one handed, 320 two handed, 460 polearm (lol), 500 riding, 300 throwing, 260 bow 180 crossbow, 330 smith... Because these skills are so high, my battle influence is also crazy high. One thing I can tell with these high skills is that the riding becomes very overpowered. The "way of the saddle" perk increases charge damage with skill level so that means with 500 riding, I do +75 damage with rams

    • @angrygoldfish9607
      @angrygoldfish9607 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know, if you've watched my video "how to optimize your character in Bannerlord" you'll know you can get 450 riding without the use of mods. Riding, for me, is the least fun of the over levelable skills because it is kinda broken. I don't like using mods because they rarely balance the game. I like dominating a battlefield but I like to feel like I earned it. I did the same in my first playthrough. I leveled social and bow skill thanks to the advice of well meaning TH-camrs. That's a lot of the reason why I started making my own videos.

    Wait, do the extra points from the smithing perk go over the cap? Is this the same for the extra atribute points from smithing and athletics?

    • @angrygoldfish9607
      @angrygoldfish9607 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, the extra focus points you get from the blacksmithing perk will take you over the cap of 5 focus points and allow you to level up your skills farther. No, your attribute points cap at 10 and will go no further. I did test for this. I always get just 8 attribute points in endurance, vigor and control and get the last 2 attribute points, in each from athletics and blacksmithing perks. I do either control or vigor perks but do them both together so I have 10 attribute points. Then I'll cap out my skill level for those skills. Then I'll go to the arena master and respec athletics and blacksmithing and cap out the other set of skills.

    How did you get so many legendary armors ? Do you fight as a small party of 80-150 troops and fight single lords or do you fight big battles with 800-1000 troops vs. 1500 troops ? The loot is usually related with the number of high level troops you damage vs. the size of your party in relation with the enemy party. Meaning the odds may better if win 1:2 of 500 vs. 1000 or 1:2 of 150 vs. 300 or 80 vs. 150 - i do not know with the smaller party the odds of loot drop ? as i carry with me for many game years 350-450 troops all the time. I have high roguery by-the-way. Ideally i believe is to fight alone with you companions maybe as 50 troop party against 200 troops and then you will get all the loot. If everyone kills 3 enemy's and you kill 20-35 you usually win. You fight even 1:4 ratio...

      I'm sure if you continued to watch the other videos in this series you now know that I hunt armies with my warband of 80+ companions. The largest army I defeated with my warband was 2300+. When you are traveling that fast and able to kill armies, you get a lot of gear farming done.

  • @CapriciousStoic2
    @CapriciousStoic2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    For your character prison breaks to level up roguery. You have to follow a war and find out here they put the prisoners' usually with enciclopedia. You can do 1-2 or 3 prison breaks if you have good luck and wait a while but the prisoners must be drop off..that that is not happening to often - the big enemy army can keep the prisons with it them for quite a while and if they drop them off - is usually in one location. If you are a mercenary you can trap 2 or 3 lords - get them to a separate castles each or towns but close to each other - and then - renounce the contract ( you will lose the influente sadly = future money ) and then do 3 prison breaks on the 3 castles/towns ( then be again a mercenary and start again ) . For companions...is hard...i did no manage to do it to well. The only way was to create a companion party of only bandit troops donated but mounted ( Horse Archers or Javelin CAV ) and then let the party fight bandits. The companion will get decent experience but not much.

      Thanks for the input. I'm aware of flessons tactics to level roguery through contrived prison breaks. It's time consuming and inefficient IMO and in my experience your character dies of old age before your character ever reaches 330 roguery. I've perfected roguery leveling since this video. Maybe I'll make a guide for it in the future.

    What about F6 for horse archers? They usually use hit and run tactic. And didnt tested properly F1+F5 for archers but it should be similar to F1+F4 when they move long distance without shot.

    • @angrygoldfish9607
      @angrygoldfish9607 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      F6 is basically the same as F1 F3 in my experience. I do use F1 F3 while doing the " fish barrel" if my enemy manages to reach the horse archer line and I need to buy a few seconds so I can direct them to reform the circle in a better location. As a whole though F6 or F1 F3 for horse archers, in my opinion, is trash. They are not accurate while in motion (sure they'll get some kills but nothing like if they were static). It's just a great way to burn through their quivers for not much. While at the same time putting them in danger of running into trees, getting congested on dismounted horse, landmarks or invisible walls (making them easy pickings for enemy foot archers and infantry) also they are much more in danger of enemy cavalry while in motion. It's just bad. The difference between F1 F4 and F1 F5 comes into play when your units reach the edge of the map. With F1 F4 they will awkwardly try to run through the enemy lines and then try and kite the enemy from the other side. This isn't good and should be watched out for. When you F1 F5, when your units reach the edge of the map, they will retreat out of the battle. So pick your poison there. For the purposes of performing the "easy kill box" either will work as what you want them to do is run and gun and both commands will accomplish that.

    Nice, it has better stats than mine does with the Falx blade. I have a question though. for the case of companions, does the weapon being thrustable make it end up having less dps than a swing-only sword or not really?

    • @angrygoldfish9607

      I don't think so. Either way I prefer to be able to thrust as sometimes it's the only way to land a hit. Like when you're on the battlements of a fief fighting cheek by jowl with enemies and friendlies alike. Or in crammed quarters like in a prison break.

    It's gimmicky, and some people will shake their finger against it, but it SEEMS legit to me, at least to SMITH over and have 300+...this also explains how a past character had 350+ two handed, family members have had more than 330 bow before too. I thought it was a bug, and reloaded the saved game a week before...

      The fact that the smithing perk can take you to 370 in one and two handed skill levels, for me, seems like proof that the game is just function as intended and I love it. • @angrygoldfish9607
      @angrygoldfish9607 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, I can't recommend leveling athletics to 330 enough. It nets you 80 extra health just in the final perk alone, 160 if you raise a clan member right and make them your new main character. Especially if you are already spending the attribute points in endurance to level riding. I've been playing this campaign for more than 100 game years at this point. Saving all t5 and t6 swords I get and smelting them. At my peak I had a clan of 86 clan members, every one of them having at least 250 blacksmithing. What makes you think I wasn't encumbered? I keep all of my crafting materials in the same city. When I'm done smithing I put them in my city stash. Good questions and thanks for watching.

    • @angrygoldfish9607
      @angrygoldfish9607 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, as you see in the very beginning of the video, if you are careful while raising your clan members and you purposefully stack focus points in one-handed, bow or riding skill, you can get a maximum of 8 focus points in one of those skills (7 in athletics). You can also get a 9th and 6th focus point in one-handed and two-handed skills respectively, by leveling your blacksmithing skill and choosing the perk that gives you an extra focus point in those skills. You will of course need 10 attribute points for these skills if you're going to max out any skill but the levels come from the extra focus points either from carefully raising your clan members and or the blacksmithing perk. Thank you for asking this question. I was afraid I wasn't clear enough in the video on how this was done so I'm glad to have the chance to write it out for you. I hope this is more clear. That's very true but it's better to drop it because putting it on your back takes time. Having a shield also weighs you down even if it's on your back. It's much better to be able to move more quickly so you can stay out ahead of your enemies landing shots through their blocks. There is the rare occasion that I will hang onto my shield. If I'm facing a ton of archers for instance. But even then, the battlefield is littered with shields usually and you can just pick up a new one or just keep the enemy melee between you and their archers. They act as a pretty good shield themselves. Anyway, thanks for watching the video.

They are getting athletics and archer skills, which is exactly what I want them to get. Later when I have better armor on them, better weapons for them, higher medicine skill level for myself and real troops for them to fight next to, I won't be so precious with them. At this point though, if I used them aggressively they would spend all their time in the dirt and or dying on me. Did you know that if you level athletics, bow and riding on a companion they can get a 2.5 loyalty modifier when governing from perks? That is enough to counter all of the loyalty disadvantages of using them in a "wrong culture" fief, plus .5 to boot. It's like the game is trying to tell you how to make the best soldier companions by making those companions the best governors as well. *Edit- So I rewatched this episode a bit and I am actually retreating everyone out of the fights.
