    “Stoicism and it’s followers dealt with the feeling of insignificance against the world’s natural laws and strength by being apathetic to it. We must aknowledge that the natural world is often a hard enemy for the Individual to deal with, but that it is still worth trying to defend oneself against it unlike the Stoics who let their fate be dictated by this natural order.” - Max Stirner

    • @cyphlone3306
      @cyphlone3306 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They never become dictated to it. They never dread on death. They encourage one to reach their best potential and that means what humans could plausibly and possibly reach, whether to defeat death(immortality) or at least become the best physically, mentally, and spiritually. There are some stoics who have different beliefs like Christian stoics, or other religious stoics. Stoicism is not some time of like a religion in the first place. Its a way to living practically. Though it is possible to think that none of them believed that immortality can be achieved in the future(who knows), this doesnt negate the other good teachings of Stoicism nor does it show to be dictated. I dont think that stoics were apathetic to it because focusing on what they can control is better and it reaches to their best potential of humans. The stoics enjoy and cherish life. They are not some emotionless people who seek death. If they do seek death, they contradict their teachings. Now, answer this question to reflect on yourself. Do you now disregard a teaching of stoicism such as not worrying or not dreading on actions that cant be controlled because you find a mistake on some teachings on which you assume to be so?

    Gentlemen, I'm suffering for divorce. I made mistakes with her, lack of responsibility. I didn't do what a man should do for the good of the relationship for a long time. And she left me. I feel like shit, failure. but I'm on my journey to improve myself, financially, maturity and etcetera. the pain in heart and mind hurts everyday, missing her, can't stop thinking about our moments... I have no friends worth having, so I prefer not having. I hope everything gets better and me and her could be together again and marry. In the name of Jesus.

    True we have become fragile and brittle.. Also, when you have no one to talk to.. there is still God. The stoics were correct, in every way. Do not know if this guy is a stoic, but I found these two quotes from him that echoes the stoics “It is amazing how often people who cannot control their own emotions always want to control other people’s behaviors.” and “Worrying about things you cannot control is folly. Focus only on those few things you have any control over, and your life becomes much simpler.” -Jeffrey Fry

    can anyone tell me what's stoicism? I googled it and it told me its "making oneself unable to feel emotion so that one shouldn't feel sad". that just sounds stupid, bad, primitive and forced. but seeing how many people like this ideology. I think the google was wrong. so please tell me what stoicism REALLY is?

    • @why53414
      @why53414 ปีที่แล้ว

      The definition is slightly different from other's pov. I believe people think it means not to show much emotions rather than being unable to feel any.

    • @tenet748
      @tenet748 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@why53414 that's not it, either. As taken from Wikipedia, "Stoicism teaches the development of self-control and fortitude as a means of overcoming destructive emotions; the philosophy holds that becoming a clear and unbiased thinker allows one to understand the universal reason". There is a video by youtuber "Aperture" that covers this.

    Both philopospher and warrior. A ruler built both mentally and politically. An Emperor who left his state both financialy and military stable despite diesases and wars raveging everywhere around. He wasn't a mere, soft gentleman like modern people tend to portray him, he was a fiersome commander who complitely dominated and summoned to order germanic tribes, still keeping his stoic mannerism and modesty. A very rare example of human being. Basically His only flaw was a matter of power succession to his son which consequences he naturally couldn't predict as a loving father. Everything else about him is perfect
