Awesome!!! Thanks for sharing these details!!
You are most welcome!
@@pilotjamie1176 As soon as I get a few more hours behind me, I will be taking this course and really appreciate the insight.
@@Complete_Freedom Outstanding! Keep us posted on your progress!
I did the ATP course for my Canadian conversion. Super easy and the 2 days of 737 Max sim were great. No problem at all
Awesome!
"It's never too late to be what you might have been." I LOVE that!! (from a 57 year old guy trying the same route)
Taking the written at the end of the 7 days seems exhausting. Did you feel like you had much study time through out the week? This will be my reality in about 4 months. Thanks!
There was tons of study time in the evenings. I did a ton before I got there as well.
@@pilotjamie1176 thank you sir!
That ATP written was tough.
But very managable with Sheppard air! Thanks for watching!
@@pilotjamie1176 it is but some of the test questions can be misleading.
@alessio272 100% agree. Some questions are very poorly written.
@@pilotjamie1176 is it me or is the CFI checkride difficult? That was the only checkride I failed. ATP was very straight forward.
@@alessio272 CFI was absolutely the most difficult and longest checkride by far.
Great informative video..
Thank you so much!!!
Hi. Nice n useful video. Good information to have any knowledge of upcoming ATP courses. Do you any information, Is there any ATP classes available around Chicago?
Honnestly, I'm not sure. The company set everything up for me, so I never had to research different locations or companies that provide the course.
Thank you so much for making this video. I’m at just shy of 1400 hours instructing at ATP and will be heading to CTP soon. This cleared up a lot of questions I had. It looks really nicely structured which I love. Thank you again and best of luck in your career moving forward!
Thanks so much! I wish you all the luck in the world. I'm going through captain upgrade and checkride in a few days. I promise I'll get back to making videos soon.
Where do I find more videos. I actually understands it 😂
I really need to get off my butt and make more. I'm going through upgrade training right now, but once I'm done I promise I'll get back to it! Thanks for watching!
Sir, you really inspired me. Like you, I served in the military for over 8 years trying to get a pilot slot (USAF). I even attempted to commission in the Navy for aviation, but was not competitive enough to apply (passing, but low ASTB scores). However, I did get selected for a commission into the Information Warfare Community. After the transfer, I have about 11ish years left before retirement, I’m going to keep flying and see what happens. This video really helped me solidify that idea. I mean, the PPL is almost done! Gotta keep pushing for that end-goal. Thank you so much for the motivation. I needed this.
Congrats on your progress and positive attitude! It's really easy to get discouraged when life craps all over your plans. Keep your chin up and keep knocking out your ppl and ratings and you'll make it for sure!
First let start by saying I know this video is already a year old, so I hope you see this and respond. I am in a similar situation, I am a bit older and have my ppl looking to start instrument in the next month. I was wondering how you financed your training. If that is too personal or you don’t wish to discuss in this open of a forum I totally understand. TIA
I worked full time as a paramedic. Grabbed every extra shift I could. If I didn't get the OT I didn't get to fly. Took me a bit longer, but came out debt free.
Thanks for the quick response, and am glad to see you following and accomplishing your dreams.
Very helpful 👍
Thanks!
Hey, thanks for putting out such an in depth and information packed video. I am considering paying to send myself to this course and the information you detailed so well is a huge help. Just wanted to say thanks.
Thanks so much for the kind words! I need to get off my butt and make more videos.
@@pilotjamie1176 THIS one was absolutely perfect...for ME! What was your flight time and flight experience BEFORE you took this course? Thx, John
Also, I know you need an E6B for the FAA ATP written but did you need one for this course?
@@asdfgasdfghjkl1039 nope. Didn't use one at all for course
@@asdfgasdfghjkl1039 I believe I was at 1700 total when I went to ATP.
Was the flight school you learned and instructed at a Part 61 or Part 141?
It was a Part 61. Del Sol Aviation at sunport in Albuquerque NM
Congrats man💪🏻 I will do my ctp atp in few weeks, very helpful videos 👍🏻✈️✈️✈️
Thanks
Voodoo…😂 perfect. Suck squeeze bang fart? Works on my lawn mower too..:-)
Please try to explain that the V(NE) varies and how with altitude in jet to a prop plane owner who thinks it’s fixed.
Really cool! im 33 and im working on becoming a airline pilot
Thanks! And good luck!
@@pilotjamie1176 Did you start working yet? Where are the videos?!?
@Squid I've been at a regional airline for a year now. I've been super lazy about making videos. I need to get off my butt and get back on it.
Thanks a lot for this video it’s very useful to take a peek about ATP Course, I am a Commercial foreign pilot and scheduled to next month at ATP Orlando
Congrats and good luck!!
Awesome wife!! Where’s an update on ur regional journey??
I've been terrible about updates, ill get on it soon
Hi man, Very nice vid. I'm currently a pilot in French polynesia and looking to get an FAA ATP. I was wondering how did you prepare for the ATM? Heard sheppard was the best to prepare the test but was looking to get the gleim book to study before. What's your thoughts? Safe landings on the ERJ (if you're still on it)
Sheppards is by far the best option by far! I am on the ERJ still, I'm actually sitting in KORD right now, we just timed out for the day so we are dead heading back to Boise to pick up the rest of our trip. Best of luck on the FAA ATP! Hit me up if you have any questions.
@@pilotjamie1176 Ok, you did only sheppards with no other atm prep book? Is it enough for the oral exam after during the ATP? Thanks a lot, merry christmas!
@Victorien Correct. No other prep for ATP.
Excellent video! Thank you. This helps a lot. Great success to you 💯😎✈️
Thank you so much!
Are you sticking it out for CA or jumping ship for an LCC?
They automatically assign upgrade at my company at 1000 hours SIC, so I will go for captain. But I do plan on applying to southwest at that time as well. That is my end goal company. I plan on staying here until I can get on with them. Currently at 560 SIC time.
Some advanced avionics suites such as the G3000/G5000 actually present “coffin corner” to the pilot on the speed tape. If you look at CitationMax’s videos flying the Citation in cruise flight, you can see the barber pole overspeed region and red stall speed region on the speed tape very close to each other.
I’m looking into applying for training. Kind of nervous
Nerves are a very normal part of the process. it's been worth it for me though.
thanks so much! how long ahead have u prepared for Written test ?
I studied for about 3 weeks
Nice video man… thanks for sharing this valuable information!
Thank you so much for your video Jamie! Next week I start my ATP-CTP, and your video really helped me to see whats going to happen and how is it going to be. Great content!
Thanks! You will do great!!
Hey man. My story parallels yours so much. I am 41 and with the support of my wife, went to flight school a year and a half ago. I blew through training and work 7 days a week as a CFI now. I have ATP/CTP in August for my airline and your videos are really helpful. Love to get an update. From one “old guy” to another….good for you for following your dream.
That's awesome! I finished training in January. Finished IOE in February. Was on reserve through april. And now in May I'm a line holder and starting to feel really comfortable in the job. I've got just over 100 hours of turbine time. I need to get off my butt and make new videos. I have several scripts ready to go but I've been busy/lazy. If you contact me through social media, I'll give you more specifics and my personal info.
How long do you think it will it take to get the 1500 hrs?
I just turned 42 in August of this yr. Looking to start my flight training this fall. Looking to have a 36 month transition from Firefighter/Paramedic to paid pilot and work my way up that ladder. Realistic? I have 20 days a month to devote to training...
What advice would you offer someone with a passion for aviation and wants to become an airline pilot someday?
First, u have an amazing wife. Second, awesome story and video. Im 43 and applying to the regionals soon🙏🏼. Third, also a veteran (USMC) and prior first responder.
Glad to hear from you brother! Congrats on the regionals. Yes, Family makes it much easier, My wife continues to make this job possible and fun. I've been busy, but I'll get the next couple videos recorded soon. Feel free to message me on any of the social media's if you have any questions. Keep me posted on your progress!
Thanks Jamie, was there other foreign guys converting licenses to FAA? I’m looking down the barrel of an ATP-CTP course as part of the process. Great breakdown
There was at least 2 that I know of. It is getting more and more common
Awesome video and much more informative than any other. Heading to ATP this weekend super excited!
Thanks so much! Congrats on ATP, you'll learn a lot!
Thank you so much for this video, I am starting ATP CTP next month and this video helps , now I an idea of what to expect
Glad it helped! Good luck!!
Absolutely amazing. Kudos to you! Subscribed:)
Thanks so much! I'm just wrapping up IOE, I'll get new videos up as soon as my schedule settles down. Glad to have you here!
Good video thanks. I head there in March for my CTP course, I'm pretty excited. Hopefully once I retire next year I can find a flying job
Thanks! You'll enjoy the course. There are so many job options for pilots that you should be able to find anything you are looking for.
I am super excited for my course coming on the 16th. I have done almost 3k hrs Part 91 so will definitely be a culture shock! Great video!
Thank you and congrats on the transition! I just finished the airline training and will have a video up for that soon
Does ATP start at the beginning of the month or could it just be any random week of the month?
It can be any any day of the week or month. Mine started on a Friday
Some of the regional's are experiencing ridiculous wait times for sims. Have you made it past that?
I'm taking the final checkride this week. The sims have been delayed, and so is the IOE once you graduate. I'm hearing 6-8 weeks.
Hello! I’m 35 and wanting to start ATP flight school in Dallas in about 8-12months. Thanks for the videos! I have some tattoos and was about to get them removed because I heard you can’t have any even if they can be covered up, is that true?
99% of airlines simply require that you cover them. I have full sleeves and I won't remove them
@@Motoxman319 oh that’s good lol
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing your experience
No worries and thank you for the comment!
Thrilled for you Captain Jamie ;-)
I appreciate it! P.s. I'm a first officer, might be a while before I make captain :)
Very cool story. I’m also hoping to switch careers at some point but also coming to the game late (47). I have PPL and Instrament rating complete and getting ready to start commercial training.
Thank you! You have plenty of time and are already halfway there. I appreciate the comment and look forward to any updates in your journey!
Great video thanks for sharing it.!
My pleasure, thanks for watching and commenting!
So glad I stumbled on your videos. I am also a prior paramedic and now finally getting to the regionals after Covid. I begin INDOC in Feb…so thanks for the videos.
Good Luck on your training! If you see me out there come say hi!
did my atp course there. 1 day in the CRJ sim, 1 day in the B737, 1 day in A320. Shepard for the written, took a couple extra weeks for the written though.
Good luck, I too am considering a regional at late life (60!), nice to see an older person blogging as opposed to all the young ATP school people.
I'm almost done with training at my airline and there are more people in our position than you'd think. Good luck to you in whatever you decide!
