How's things going lately

On my early C-Zero the DC-DC converter looks very much different. In September 2022 with some 56.000 km, 1nF condensers C121 and C122 were blown. Now 22.000 km and almost 2years later the Okaya LS225 X2 condenser with 2,2 micro Farad also on the lower PCB is damaged. It smokes when I try to do AC charging.

I saved much time doing the desoldering and soldering in the built in condition inside of the vehicle. It was helpful to have a goold soldering station and a de soldering vacuum pump.

This is quite interesting but worth mentioning that it could result in your battery going on fire!!! This is a little device that sits inline and basically intercepts messages with ID of 374 which is likely from the battery or BMS and then changes the range value in the message to a higher value that makes the system believe the range is longer than it actually is. Also intercepting message and changing the battery charge to a higher value. This means the car could allow the battery to be driven longer than it's actually capable of. This could result in the chemistry of the battery cells being stressed beyond the working parameters which could mean electrolyte breakdown and ultimately they overheat and go on fire. If a big battery like that goes on fire, it's game over because it's a chemical reaction that's taking place - resulting in combustion. Even if you douse it in water, it can start up again.

In my case the red light on mcp2515 is not working i assume it is not sending data. i dont think voltage should be issue because my other node is just working fine (with lights on).......

Hi, so did you get this working properly in the end, using larger capacity cells? I know theres many other cells that work in the miev, its not hard, juat tricky to get the car to accept the battery upgrade unless you pay a lot of money to the Australians solution.. and they charge double what the cells are worth...

Just some information for people who may be interested in working with CAN bus systems in cars that are getting a bit older. These cars may have whats called a 'fault-tolerant' or 'low-speed' CAN bus which is common for infotainment and comfort CAN bus systems. These systems operate on the CAN bus at a baud rate ≤125kbps. At the end of this video, the information about terminating resistors is different when working on a fault-tolerant CAN bus. Common CAN bus systems are standardized as ISO 11898-2 while fault-tolerant/low-speed CAN bus is standardized as ISO 11898-3 and often require different transceivers than what are found on common Arduino modules/shields. Common transceivers for low-speed CAN bus systems are NXP TJA1054 and NXP TJA1055 and these are NOT drop in replacements for the ones found on common modules/shields such as the TJA1050, TJA1051, and MCP2551. EDIT: Added a common transceiver.

I am a bit puzzled about your comments re the PP (proximity pilot). As far as the car is concerned, as soon as you plug the Type 1 plug into the car's charging socket (01:51), the PP side of things is sorted; the resistors and microswitch in the T1 plug do what they need to having been connected to the PP circuit on the car side. The fact that the PP pin at the T2/T1 plug connection (with the wires) does not have a PP connection is completely irrelevant as this is never seen (or connected) to anything other than the car anyway (except Tesla does something odd with it in their wall chargers).

Hi, Your project is very interesting. Is the information you’re changing just programming the bridge or is it reprogramming the BMU? The bridge is in the middle of the Can Bus lines, so it’s not reprogramming the BMU. Sometimes BMUs ECUs can’t be reprogrammed unless you have the proper software.

Подскажите пожалуйста, если знаете, сегодня столкнулся с тем, что при легком нажатии на тормоз, блокируется одно из задних колес. При этом лампы АБС и ЕСП не загораются. При отпускании тормоза машина вперед не едет, только назад. Уровень тормозухи в норме. На обычной машине я бы смотрел сразу колодки и торм.цилиндр, а тут чего-то стремно лезть в колесо с рекуперацией.. Думал может подскажите пару дельных мыслей? 🙏

Very interesting experiment. I would think the car has a current transformer on the input of the charger instead of a shunt resistor, and this current transformer will read absolutely no current when its fed DC. Maybe pulsing DC would be enough to trick it.

Thank you for showing this very interesting hack. I have been waiting for a battery upgrade to become available for my i-miev here in Japan. Of course, I never held out any hope that Mitsubishi would do it. It would be fantastic to have one of my own. This hack is a small but significant step.
