Journey with Sowatha
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 14 มิ.ย. 2010
I've always been an adventure seeker and learning to ride a motorcycle was just another adventure for me. When I decided to take the MSF basic rider course, I didn’t know that I would later on marry my motorcycle coach: Chris Carr and go on crazy rides with him; however, when he lost his battle against cancer, I decided to run his motorcycle school in his memory. It was quite challenging at first, having to juggle a full time job at the hospital and running a motorcycle school, and many doubted me but I’m still here.
In this channel, I’m going to share my travels on and off my bike.
I hope you enjoy my videos ❤️

Weekend ride in the North Georgia mountains. Part 1: Helen
The first destination of our ride was to Helen, GA which really transforms into a little slice of Bavaria during Oktoberfest. We were surrounded by festive music, delicious German food, and of course, plenty of beer! The scenic ride through the North Georgia mountains was a beautiful experience too.
Many people wore traditional Bavarian attire (lederhosen or dirndl). We made sure to pace ourselves because there was a lot to taste and drink, but also a lot of
dancing, singing, and contests.
Helen has the longest lasting Oktoberfest in the United States, starting in September and ending in October.

Just look at all the money you just saved by changing it yourself, plus you’re riding a Kawasaki 👊🏽👊🏽
@@SouthernBoyzRyde yes, I saved a lot of money 😊
I've never heard of this place. You are making it difficult for me to decide on a new motorcycle. My Triumph/ Royal Enfield dealership had to replace my rear tire tube because they pinched it replacing the tires. They have a leftover 23 1200 Rally Expedition ,same color as yours, on a clearance sale. $6k off sticker. It's a tall bike for my 5'9" height, but watching you ride, I think I can handle it. The BMW GS 1250 IS $9K More than this bike. I can do a lot of traveling for that amount of money. It's got the 30 liter extended fuel tank. My friends Daughter just moved to Germany. I'm not a beer drinker ( or any drink ) but that festival looks really fun. I might have to go next year. Looks really fun. Great video
@@JohnDavis-ol7qg I love my triumph tiger but I just saw a TH-cam video about a guy who complained about some of triumph’s manufacturing issues, so maybe do more research about it. Helen is fun but of course better with a festival 😊
@Sowatha13 A childhood friend on Facebook just posted they were in Helen GA today and went on some rail car ride. I was like wow, a place not far from me and a place I've never heard about until I saw your video and now she's there today. I told her to watch your video. Yes, I've been looking at videos on the Triumph compared to the BMW GS1250. Saving $9,000 compared to a GS is nice. Only issues I see is cost of 20k valve adjustment service and the fact of dropping it would be much harder for me to pick up. I've watched girls pick up a GS Because they only fall at a 45° angle. $19,000 for a new 23 Triumph Tiger Rally Expedition with the 8 gallon tank and loaded is a really good price
@ indeed it’s a very good price. I’m sure you could pick up that triumph if you dropped it. It’s all about technique. Do you follow doodle on motorcycle? She practiced picking hers up hundreds of times. I hope your friends enjoy Helen as much as I did.
@Sowatha13 it is about 30-40 lbs lighter than the BMW. I do watch Doodle videos. It does have a nice set of crash bars I can use to move it. I looked at the 900 like you have and both bikes were equipped with optional low seat. For $2k more for the 1200 is a better deal. It's the white/ flat black. I've been watching a lot of GS1250 comparison to the Triumph 1200 videos today. The Rally Expedition was aimed at being a better bike than the GS. I also like that it's a 3 year unlimited milage warranty compared to the 3/36 BMW warranty
@Sowatha13 oh, and Happy Thanksgiving. I hope you enjoyed the holiday. I have been watching some of your older videos of you going to visit your mom. That's so sweet. I know she must have been so happy to see you

I have seen a couple of other motorcycle Channels feature Helen. I have it saved on my phone as a motorcycle destination. It looks very nice for a Tourist Trap. I have never been to Gatlinburg TN either. My Sister worked for a Water Ski Show Company near there one summer. I have been to Europe 3 times snow skiing. Riding up the chairlifts I met friendly nice people from all over the World, most could speak pretty good English. The only people that I met who were not friendly to the point of being Rude were Germans. In Germany driving on the Autobahn, I have never seen more Polite and Curious Drivers. Driving down the highway at 90 MPH you put on your turn signal and other drivers will flash their headlights and give you room to change lanes. If you put on your Turn signal in Michigan often times people will floor it and cut you off so you can't change lanes to get to the turn lane or exit. I started riding a street bike again in 2017. Being aware and cautious of all of the people who text and drive ect I was worried that 4 wheelers might not give a two wheeler any leeway. Turns out most of the time people gave my motorcycle a bit of extra room and leeway. That is until I got into morning Rush hour in Detroit. No one would give an inch they were tailgating and would not let me change lanes. Made me wish I was driving a large truck or a big beater car I would rub fenders with them.
It sounds like you've had some great adventures! It's interesting how driving habits vary around the world.

@@Sowatha13 I took one year of French in High School. I can read a little but can't speak it. Not really one year more like 1 hour per day 5 days per week for 5 months. My Uncle took both French and Spanish and could still speak it 40 years later. I had plans to buy and Adventure Bike and ride it to Alaska to visit my Uncle, but he passed way from Prostrate Cancer. He never answered his Land Line and no Answering machine. I had planned to write him a snail mail letter, then I learned he had passed away. He went to College on a Full Musical Scholarship. In AK he worked as a Surveyor such as on the Alaskan Pipe line. He was into Running and Mountain Bike Riding and snowshoeing. He won the Equinox Marathon then 30 years later he won his age group. Two of his good running friends Mother & Son were killed by a Grizzly while running in the Chugiak State Forrest. @@Sowatha13 It's 34-F this morning, I am going to put a heated bed in the shed my ferrule cat lives in and a heated water dish. My Cat lives very good. He never even learned that I have a pet door for cats in my front door and a Dog door that I closed off in the back door. Since he has never lived indoors, I don't think he knows that is missing anymore luxuries.
@@mikeskidmore6754so kind of you to look after animals like that.
@@Sowatha13 I saw a flash of fur in the Spring about 3 years ago run into my dog pen that had an open door. I walked over to investigate. It was a small teen aged cat he was bounding off from the fence to get away from me, so I left so he could get away. I did not know that Cat was still around until it snowed and I saw cat Tracks in the snow. So there was a Summer and Fall that I never fed him. I started feeding on around Thanksgiving and he finally got tame enough to let me pet him on Valentines day. He was a very small and skinny cat for his Age. He has since grown quite a lot and now he has his thick winter fur. Since Raccoons were getting into shed through the pet door and knocking the feeder off the shelf spilling the feed and water and pooping on everything, I started feeding him daily from a dish . Now he waits for me by the back door every morning to feed him. Sometimes this Summer I would only see him every other day.
I used my motorcycle for errands and Transportation over the weekend here in Michigan 41-F. Still no heated Vest or Neck gator used. I passed a Cruiser bike in the City. The guy pulled up next to me at a red light on a Honda Shadow 450. He was grinning ear to ear, he said it was his first day on the motorcycle he got it that day. He said he loves riding. @@Sowatha13 I told you about meeting the rider who was riding his new to him bike for the first time because I know you have a Riding School. Friday I rode my Motorcycle 8 miles to the small Town of Scotts MI where My Grandfather grew up for the Memorial of my 88 Year old 2nd Cousin. Then I went X more miles down the highway into the City to get some Groceries at Sam's Club. At the Memorial my 3rd Cousin invited me to a Birthday party at a Sports Bar for Saturday. The Party had been planned as a Birthday for Both my Second and 3rd Cousin Father and Son that is since they both have November Birthdays, but my Cousin passed away while working outside trying to start his Motor Home with his Grandson helping him. My Third Cousin had a Stoke 10 years ago while at the Breakfast Table on a Snowmobile Vacation in Northern MI. He lost the use of his Right Arm and his Left Leg which really leaves him stuck in a bed. His Wife takes care of him all day long every day. His wife was known to be a bit crazy. At the Memorial I thought she looked a lot better, more normal more alert. She told me that she had stopped drinking 2 years ago. Her drinking had gotten so bad that she had to commit herself to a rehab. Anyway, now that she does not drink at all she is doing night and day better and takes really good care of her Husband.

Good Evening Lovely Lady, Lordy I miss riding Georgia! I've been on the phone with a customer that wants to rally next year but needs work done first. I'm recommending your videos because I enjoy your brand of riding. As a recovering alcoholic I have my reasons for avoiding large crowds especially of drinkers but the beer fests of Germany I always enjoyed. I miss the potato stands where you could have a baked potato filled with your favorites and it was a meal. All the things I have fallen in love with as I traveled the world can be found here in America. Yes I am including you my friend! Please keep sharing your rides and trips, you are an inspiration for riders looking for more than a Friday bike night at their local dealer. I'm not one for using the computer to find fests but I have marked my calendar for that time of year in Georgia. Just like riding the foliage tour in the north east, the end of summer does not mean the end of a riding season. Here in Missouri the temps were slightly below freezing when I headed out and dropped 17 degrees before i got myself and the bike home but it was terrific and I did see two other riders today. REMEMBER; if it's above freezing and dry roads, just dress correct and enjoy the ride. Thank You very much Miss Sowatha, my friend, I look forward to part 2. @Sowatha13 Thank you for your sweet reply. I'm sorry to hear you went through the same tragedy. I love that you are open to finding someone in life's adventures. I'm still in the gym everyday and I am actually looking into going to India doing a Himalaya tour . I'm in touch with Alex Piara with the Nomadic Motorcycle tour company, which is shown on That Biker Simon channel. Life is more enjoyable sharing your adventures. I just watched your last video and I see Hotlanta traffic hasn't gotten any better lol. My late wife's parents live in Smyrna and I used to go to the Ford motor company training in Marietta. I'm looking at the BMW GS1250 or 1300 adventure for my next bike. I still have my 22 Royal Enfield Himalayan which is a fun bike to have. I've looked at the Triumph 1200 and your 900 which I do love. Very tall bike for my 5'9" height lol. Keep smiling. I loved this series. My brother lives in Hendersonville NC and hope to see him when the area gets cleaned up
@ thanks for sharing. I went to Nepal to do the 10 day Mount Everest Basecamp hike and he was as amazing as it was treacherous 😆
@@Sowatha13 that must have been amazing. The motorcycle tour I want to do is the latest video's of going to the Basecamp. It looks beautiful in India. My local convenience store owner is from that area. I look forward to seeing more of your adventures.
That's so cool... You guys went to the same Front Royal gas station, burger place, and even had the same park ranger at the Skyline Drive entrance gate that I did back in April 24 on my US road trip. I'l be back in the US in April 25 for another 3 month / 14,000 mile+ road trip. Cant wait!
@@jameshardy6277 wow lots of similarities in our travel of the BRP! I’d love to visit it again but I heard that some areas are going to be closed for years due to the hurricane. Maybe we can ride a tiny portion of your trip together if you are around GA and want company 👍.
@@Sowatha13 Yeah, I've been looking at the closure updates, keeping fingers crossed sections will be open by next Spring. For sure, I'll be uploading some pics and video from my 2024 trip.
@@jameshardy6277 did you upload vids from your last trip anywhere yet?
@@Sowatha13 Should have something uploaded this week. I'll link video here for ya!
Pilomiya Tonkashila Hoka Hey Wakan Tonka Good Evening Lovely Miss Sowatha, I for one am happy and impressed with you for not buying into the darley hype. The Triumph motorcycle you have will last you many years and many great trips. I know my being proud of you for riding your own ride doesn't mount to a hill of beans. I also know darley riders don't think much of my opinion but I've never bought a Tshirt or any of their riding gear just my 65 Panhead and a couple different Soft tails over the years. My next "newish" bike for long distance challenge will be a Victory maybe one rebadged as an Indian. It is the ride not what you ride and it is the freedoms you enjoy while riding that matter most. Thank You for all the great scenery along your trip. Personally I am hoping your heart break realizes his loss but that you continue for yourself and love and enjoy life. I've sent you my email address before, not so I could have a chance to meet a Gorgeous and Lovely Lady but so that we can chat and share. From people that do not know me I recently had false stories told on me and through prayer I let them follow narrow minded people while I continued on my path around our great country. That's what this free riding life is about; enjoying where you go without getting caught in the petty behavior of others. Since you are 4'15"s and my eldest daughter is 4'13"s, I can recommend the Dyna Low Rider if a darley is in your future? Christine loves both of hers and has no intentions of anything else except my 47 Indian Chief that her older brother will inherit. The fact that you promote safe and ethical riding does wonders for our community, Thank You! With Love and Respect, you are in my prayers Hoka Hey
