6 Things To Know About the Old Town of Tallinn, Estonia | Travel Guide 2023
Today I'll share my favourite 6 things to see and do in the Old Town of Tallinn. I sit down with Cedrick to learn more about the beginnings of the medieval Tallinn and how the Hanseatic League has transformed this city, which is going to be dope. I also share with you 5 activities that you can do in the Old Town that are super fun.
This is a very special episode. Tallinn is my hometown and after about 13 episodes that I've shot in collaboration with the local tourist group, I've gathered tons of material and met awesome people who are as passionate about Tallinn as I am. I hope you will fall in love with this city as much as I have.
Can't recommend enough joining the Tales of Reval medieval tour in the Old Town (It's free and it's super fun).

We had the most amazing 24 Hours in Tallinn Estonia. I managed to do my first ever polar plunge in The Baltic Sea and explored one of the most unique accommodations at Iglupark in Noblessner area. We went to the sauna, enjoyed coffee on our winter terrace. The Polar Plunge took a lot of courage and a lot of hot steamy saunas beforehand, but I'm so proud that we did it. Why would you go all the way to Kuressaare and to the castle, and then skip it? It would have been worth it
@@HelenGolovina-y9h If remember correctly, the castle’s main exhibition (or a big part of the museum itself) was under reconstruction at that time, so we decided to come back when it’s fully operational again. Which we did this summer and really loved it.
The nicest part of the trip to Saaremaa besides the ferry ride is the ride from Muhu to Saaremaa. The road is so low in the sea that you literally feel you are driving in the sea. The video made it look like you step from the ferry to Kuressaare but it is not the case. Still a long way to go from there. This is why I love the ride: so many different parts to it, it literally feels like going to another reality. i have not been there for a while. As soon as I get the chance, I will go.
Buying swedish candies in the US is a huge scam... What currency are you showing??!
What a beautiful spa! But it looks kids of unconveniant to be at a spa with a hat. Except from those sauna caps intended for sauna
Love your videos here an on the Visit Tallinn chanel! Such a good vibe and so interesting :)
Thank you so much for your kind words!
One of the nicest places in Latvia. The castle has a really nice museum so you missed a nice visit. By the way, great filming.
18-55mm is amazing lens! I love it <3
Galileo did not use the bell tower, it collapsed in 1902, he died in 1642! Why would you say that? The tower is clearly not that old.
Anyone from Amsterdam i need help ?
you missed ramiro :( nice guide! also, bairro alto is full of small restaurants, definitely worth trying, even if somewhat touristy...
Hello ..how to book the 90 min tour with Cedrik and team? Are there fix timings when we can take these guided tours
I’m born and raised in Milan, as experienced traveller I kindly suggest to not consider July and August to visit Milan it could be extremely hot there transforming your trip in a nightmare! The best periods to visit the city are definitely October march April and may. Also other autumn and winter months are not bad if you are not afraid of a little bit of cold (not so much anymore).
@@mmzt-x6b thanks, that’s a great suggestion! 👍🏻
Omg, I am local in Tallinn and just found your channel. It gives so much good vibes and great information. Thank you❤❤

i love your style and your humour !!! really
@@untitre9030 thank you, it means a lot to me!
my fav lens on Fuji is 35mm currant is the 35 F2 lens, I am cosidering that 55-200 lens seeing lot of good results on here
how much is for a beer ?
What is you higlight trick. I dont catch it. What ajustment is that
i know this is quite late, but you quite literally had the exact same thought process as me! the only difference is that I started with a prime, but I still feel you when you talk about how you didn't feel like shooting with it
Name of this hotel?
This is so cool! Thank you!
Where are you Polly? Because of you I've been to Porto twice and have discovered that I truly love this town much more than Lisbon. This may be a strange question, but is it possible for you to do a video about design in Estonia? Thank you!
@@inmytravelstoday heeey, I’m alive. Had to press a pause button on this channel as we film and edit content for the @visittallinn TH-cam channel. Glad you are enjoying Porto, it’s a very special city for us. Re Estonian design, there is actually a video we made about it on the Visit Tallinn YT channel, where I met some of my favourite current designers in Estonia. I would recommend to check out Reet Aus (she makes clothes out of leftover fabric that otherwise would be sitting in the landfill) and Stella Soomlais, her minimalistic looking leather bags are great and her approach to creating sustainable and long lasting fashion peaces is wonderful. Hope this helps ☺️
@@ClassicPolly How wonderful for you and the city! You're so talented. Thank you for responding and I'm working on becoming a professional traveler. I've heard so much about your country lately that I'd love to visit this year or definitely next year. At the moment I'm working on a Slow Paris tour but I'd love to take it to other regions of the world. It's lovely knowing that you're doing well and you're living your dream! Thank you for the recommendations and the inspiration.
You are absolutely lovely^^ I smiled throughout the entire video. You have a new follower 😄
This is the best video of Milan ever
nice work, thinking buy this lens....did not even think about street, I usually do primes, but this is a great idea also
I’ll be using your tips for my visit next month! Thank you :) x
Awesome mate, let me later know what was your fave tip :)
Have I made a terrible mistake?? I booked 4 nights for my wife and i for August, it's her birthday so it was going to be a surprise for her. Will we enjoy it at all now, if its so quiet in August??? I cant change bookings now
I wouldn't worry about Milan being quiet! Yes, some local folk would relocate to the seaside but the majority of people will still be in Milan making it quite a buzzing city! So you and your wife will have a grand time!
@@ClassicPolly thanks very much !
Thanks for great video .. I would love to research what local food to try in Talinn when I visit soon in august ❤ 🇪🇪
Great images
film simulation apa yang anda gunakan?
I get it, TH-cam video making can be a grind, the constant editing, planning and travel and fingers crossed a video idea works well enough and gets lots of views and likes, but I do miss y’all’s amazing videos and chemistry, you two are always a pleasure to watch. I’m sure things are fine and life gets busy for sure, but if I ever see a new Polly video it’ll bring a big, happy smile to my face and warm my soul. No matter what tho, I hope you are enjoying your lives and embracing all the good things to see and do in this beautiful world of ours. It’s been over a year now, and I don’t mean “where is the next video” but think of it this way: your videos have impacted me in such a way that even over a year later I’m still thinking about you guys. Anyways cheers for now and hope you have a lovely 2024 year! ❤🎉😊
Hej, what a lovely comment, it almost made me tear up! Thanks for checking on us, we both are alive and well, just working on the @VisitTallinn TH-cam channel non stop and we have plenty of videos with me up there 😅. Hopefully once the summer season is over (and all the filming is done) we get some time off and perhaps travel with our cameras again! Thanks so much for your kind words!
My biggest thing about the old city is be warned with the cobblestones. Pack a pair of walking boots, your feet will love you for it.
100% agree!
@@ClassicPolly ngl I Went to Tallinn on the off chance and it took me 10 min to fall head over heels in love with the city :D

You love Venice so much, it's so cute! 🥹
Cheers Caro, I would return back there in a heartbeat!
Great photographs using the Fuji 55-200
Where is the basil ice cream location? I love ice cream and would love to try it!
That's the name of the gelateria -LE COLONNE GELATI & CREPES FAMOSE, it's close to the Columns of San Lorenzo, so it's a nice area to walk around with your ice cream :)
Great video. I've had a similar experience to you starting off with the 18-55mm, and then buying the 23mm f2, but not really feeling inspired to use it. I've now traded this in for the 55-200 and I'm excited to try this lens out!
Milan, my home since 2009-2015. I missed this place. 😢
what camera do you use to record video?
Hey, it’s Fuji xt3 and dji action:)
I feel like you have included alot of things others haven't - not just tge typical attractions 🎉 thank you
Thanks very interesting!! Beautiful city just got back from there 🤌🇮🇹🥰
Very much enjoyed this video, but PLEASE turn down the volume on your background music. I liked the use of the Dick Dale-ish guitar to punctuate and emphasize the drama. But the constant aimlessly noodling background music during your narration was irritating and extremely distracting! Otherwise, it was excellent and I will subscribe. I'd also like to add that these are the same two Fuji lenses that I choose to use the most. I love the full coverage from 18mm to 200mm. Plus they are relatively lightweight and compact (not to mention less expensive) that similar lenses with a larger aperture. Having said this, if I'm traveling as a tourist and only want one single lens to carry, then I also own the Fuji 18-135mm. This is a nice compact lens for the focal range and I consider it to be my Swiss Army lens. P.S. It's nice to see a cute girl with a bubbly creative personality reviewing camera equipment, as opposed to the usual sausage fest.
Very very unnecessary annoying music.
