      I have conducted research on carbon safety, and I did not find any significant concerns related to skin contact with cured carbon fiber dust, except for some occasional mild allergic reactions. I believe that it is much more dangerous to operate rotary power tools with gloves. Do you have any information on the dangers of skin contact with carbon fiber dust? I always use a respirator with a particulate filter for cutting and grinding, and I ensure that all work is done outdoors. I take my PPE pretty seriously so I appreciate any tips.

      @@AlenHR what do you think of nitrile or vinyl gloves? They would protect from the carbon dust and would probably snap if caught in the tool.

    This is really brilliant.. I can imagine how light this would be. One suggestion. Instead of the long strands, you can maybe cut a 3k cloth in the frames design and lay it in the mould and then lay river pieces. I believe this way you'll have the best of strength.

    Hello.. Some one gave me a mix pull / pusher quad similar to above... can you explain betaflight motor layout and pids used to get this to fly correctly and did this fly decently with this setup? Thanks

    • @AlenHR
      @AlenHR ปีที่แล้ว

      Hai, If I remember correctly, I used BLHeli to reverse front motors. After that, I used a standard motor layout in Betaflight. Unfortunately, my AIO FC/ESC was bugging out so I never finished tweaking the setup. Default PIDs should work to some extent.

    Fantastic work! I am a mold maker in the race car industry. I make molds and carbon fiber and other composite parts and have been wanting to make a frame that is not just CNC cut flat plate carbon fiber. Your design looks awesome. I think FPV frames are flat carbon plates because it's easy, fast and cheap to make them that way. It's by no means the best way to make a good frame.

    • @AlenHR
      @AlenHR ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Yea, I think most of it comes from the racing/freestyle FPV community. They are breaking their frames all the time. For more casual flyers that do not crash as much, this technique could be viable. Production would be quite expensive, tho. But the success of the DJI FPV quad shows there is a market for more expensive "do not crash" quads. This was more of a proof of concept to me. I would like to explore it some more in the future.

      SideFX Houdini. It is not made for this kind of stuff, but it worked for me. I've been using it for years professionally for game dev (VFX, procedural geometry) so I figured I'll give it a go in product design.

    Amazing work. are the hole just for releasing the part or are they for resin relief too?

    • @AlenHR
      @AlenHR ปีที่แล้ว

      For releasing the part, there was some clearance between the walls of the mold when fully closed to allow for the resin to escape.

    That was a masterclass, fascinating, thanks for sharing. Beautiful result too. I may have missed it, but what is the curing time of the resin? Must be a long time since the layup takes ages by hand and you wouldn't want to rush it!

    omg that's crazy light! Seeing how much work went into this, I'd be an order of magnitude more scared of crashing it than I already am of crashing my fragile DJI FPV.

    • @AlenHR
      @AlenHR 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      TBH, I can't wait to crash that thing and see where it'll break. I'll start easy to see how it flies, and increase risk levels as I go until it breaks. That won't be that hard given my piloting skills. I would say 90% of the effort went into mold design. The rest was pretty straightforward. The layup itself was actually really fun.

    • @AlenHR
      @AlenHR 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, Yea, I just made some molds a couple of days ago. I'm trying forged carbon fiber combined with cf tow for directional strength. If strong enough, it could open many possibilities with varying thickness of frame parts. Forged one half and looks promising. It is way faster and easier to apply than laminate, and almost no post-processing is needed, just some cleanup of flash lines. I hope I'll post part 2 soon.

    camera looks great, those trees are too dense to fly through hehehe. i practised low down for a long time, the secret to slow proxy is use throttle to go down and pitch to go up, if you have the best prop/motor/battery/weight combo, your throttle should feel as accurate as your pitch and roll, if not the easiest thing to change is props until you find the right combo. ps. my dji v2's on 500mw blasted my flysky radio, micro drop outs at 800m, not fun hehehe.

I'm trying to keep low, wanna get rid of that vertical oscilations on speedups/slowdowns and in turns. Just figured out that micro throttle blips really help. Thanks for tips, gonna focus more on throttle/pitch combo.
