where do I find this stencil material at? Are transparency sheets good with spray paint?
Transparency sheets or vinyl stencil material can be found on Amazon or office supply stores.
very cool, liked this a lot, good ideas and good edu on approach and learning, thank you!
I appreciate your kind words, thank you for watching!
I love this but the charcoal is still on my plate and I can't seem to get it off with baby wipes or soap!
Try applying baby oil, let it soak in. Apply some more and wipe off with lint free material. It'll remove most things including charcoal, graphite, chalk pastel and sharpie marks. Do this every couple of weeks to keep your plate in good condition or if it's been stored for a long time. Your first few pulls won't be great afterwards so just do a couple of throw aways.
Try applying regular light colored paint to the plate, place the paper down as if you are printing. Then let the paint dry for about 30 minutes or so. Pull up the paper. (This works best with cardstock/heaver weight paper)This should pick up anything left behind on your plate.
Wow
Thanks for watching!
Love it! TFS 💖💖💖🙏🙏🙏
Thank you! Cheers!
This creates a very attractive gift box!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for a very nice demonstration. I’m finding I much prefer Akua and open acrylics on the gel plate to regular acrylics. There’s more time to play.
I agree-Both types work beautifully on the gel plate and you can relax a little!
Love this one!
So glad it was enjoyable!
Thank your for the akua ink idea. I've never used them. Like the idea of cutting out shapes for the plate.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is wonderful. I am a newbie but willing to play and see what happens. Many thanks
That’s great-It’s a very forgiving and relaxing medium!
Cool experiment! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
you saved me $20. :/
Thank you for this demo. I was stumped by why a waterproof paper would be desired in watercolor painting. I think Yupo looks really fun. Cheers! 👋😎🩵
You're welcome! It's a great surface for watercolor, and I think you'll enjoy it.
how do you avoid the line through the 2 images
When you tape the transparencies together, overlap them, then use the xacto carefully to cut through both to get a close match. And tape the two together as close as you can.
Thrilled that I found your channel.
Wonderful-thanks for watching!
Clare, I noticeed that the honeycomb was not the pattern you started the tutorial with . I realize that the original pattern would not work because you would lose the patteren when it came off because of the unconnected "holes" in the patteren. I want to make cookie stencils but I can't figure out how to make the connecting lines to keep the patterns. Do you know how to do that? (I hope this is clear) NOTE: this is not a criticism, just an observation LOL! 😁
You are correct, I changed stencils in mid video because the video of the second one was stronger. The honeycomb type is connected by the "threads" or lines of the honeycomb, which are also connected to the outside border. When you prep the image for Cricut, you can choose whether you want to cut out the shapes in between the threads or the threads/connecting lines. You would want to leave the lines and only cut out the shapes. Hope that helps with your question.
This was very interesting. How did you line-up/register your prints please - there was no mention?
Thanks for asking. On the working surface, which was white paper in this case, I drew pencil lines indicating paper size.
Woohoo the queen is back!
Thanks @MilesMochizuki!
Thank you so much Clare, I really really enjoyed watching you create those stunningly beautiful and amazing prints. I really really love ❤❤❤❤ them all too. I’ve subscribed because I’m very impressed by your creativity and your style too. Please stay safe and well too
Thank you for the kind words and for watching!
Merci beaucoup
Thanks i only thought you could use acrylic paint. I have tons of inks so I can't wait to try them on my gel plates 😁🎉
The ink has to be water based am I correct ?
I should know I'm just checking because I don't want to wreck my gel plate it's too expensive to replace.
have fun experimenting!
I would stick with water based for now, tho it is possible to use oil based as a resist-it’s experimental.
I have a video in oil pastels as a resist method. th-cam.com/video/d1dsxs1SeSA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_EASyMJXgQGN-mFu
Merci beaucoup 👍🌸🌸🌸
Merci d’avoir regardé!
Very nice. I like the ghost, the subtle lines and soft colors. Lovely
Thank you for watching!
Wow cricket can cut plastic to make templates?
Also can it cut foam with adhesive?
Yep and paper or board too
Havent tried it yet but I would say probably yes. You just have to pay close attention to the settings
Love the charcoal transfer, it’s lovely and soft! I have used many types of paper on the gel plate but not Bristol, now I ask myself ‘why’! Love how your print turned out!💕🇨🇦
Wonderful! Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for watching.
Vid would be better if it just focused on the technical aspects of the charcoal transfer - too much time watching you draw and mixing colors.
Appreciate the feedback. Thanks for watching.
V v cool!❤
Thanks!
Wow, I really love the textures in this print! Thanks for letting us know about the hard brayer, I've often wondered what the difference is.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching.
I love the textures you were able to achieve with this! Thanks for sharing.
Appreciate your watching. Glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you for sharing this video. All the prints were fabulous! I really love how calm and quiet your video was, no competing and annoying music while you talked. That is getting very difficult to find these days. Off to watch some more of your videos! ♥
I do appreciate that comment! I am never sure about music but in this case left it out in favor of talking. Thanks for watching and commenting-it’s really helpful.
Hi Clare, thank you for your video - i just bought some because I have seen it at the art stores, but my goodness - its expensive! I Iiked how you just set out to put water color on paper - my experiments would look like yours. After it dried, did you try to lift any? Someone said it can be wiped off? Hmm,, goodness. I could spend a day with this,, thank you again!
Yes, you can wipe it off with a sponge and water and start over! Thanks for watching!
This is fascinating! Your narration is so helpful and the image is beautiful.
So glad you enjoyed watching.
Wow, what a great idea! Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Did you use golden open acrylics so paint wouldn’t dry too fast?
Regular acrylics-I taught them to work fast and add a drop or two of retarder if their paint dried too fast.
Can the finished item then be called a painting?
Sure, you could call it acrylic on paper.
Thanks for sharing. Very nicely paced. I accidentally let my plate barely touch glossy paper and that was a disaster.
Hope it got resolved, thanks for watching.
@@ClareWinslowArtStudio actually glossy photo paper will cause permanent damage but the other side is still good.
Yes, am using the other side. I was surprised at how quickly the damage happened. The two surfaces barely touched for a fleeting moment and the damage was immediate. Thanks!
Much neater and easier than taping top of art piece to backing board across the top. That never works for me. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Frustrating no sound
Hey there, try this one: It's similar and has audio. th-cam.com/video/8fxKuSYoqCs/w-d-xo.html
Akua relief inks on a gel plate give beautiful detail! Leaves give you the most amazing ghost prints. If you have one, use a smaller spare gel plate as your paint pallet instead of the hard plexiglass surface....much more forgiving for mixing and spreading.
Thanks for the tip!
How did you get the tree print?
That was an old attempt at a transfer with laser photocopy. It turned out light so I printed on top here. Thanks for watching.
It’s good to find that the acrylics work over the ink
Yes, as long as the first layer is dry you can usually mix media.
beautiful print!!
Thanks Miles!
yayy new video!
Hey Clare! I just started using my maker to do the same thing! I've been wanting a brick stencil and found one in DS and cut it the same as you did. Seems it will save $ on stencils!
That sounds great-i love that we can use our own ideas and create stencils of different sizes!
Thank you ! You've inspired me !!! Even though i am all thumbs....how long does it take to learn framing ? Is there a school ?
Heh heh, well I don’t think you need framing school for basic framing, just practice by getting a simple inexpensive frame the same size as your art and putting your art inside it. If that goes well work up to framing with a mat, which is totally optional, by the way.
@@ClareWinslowArtStudio excellent !!! Thank you !!!
🔥
Thankyou ..I did not know how to do this
Oh great-I am glad it was useful!
I had no idea! Thank you!
Glad you liked it!
If you push the gel plate onto the wood you can get better contact thus better transfer
Yes, i do that later in the video…thanks for watching.
Hope you enjoy this new video--let's combine gel printing with acrylic painting and stencils!
