I USED A FLIP PHONE FOR 3 MONTHS (and it changed my entire life)
มุมมอง 11K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
Today, I wanted to reminisce and share an "unplugged" journey I took in late 2021 to get myself out of a pandemic induced, isolated, rut. I hope you are inspired to do something radical and make whatever changes needed to live the life you crave and dream of! Love, Julia

I've watched countless videos of people describing their experience with flip phones, and yours is my favorite. You get to the point, and I like that you used it for 3 months because it is a more reliable amount of time to get settled into routines that don't revolve around ur iPhone. Love that you were more creative too! Keeping that in mind as well as no phone in my room for my own routines❤
lindos ojos 😍
How did you manage to get use to a small screen? I am thinking of this as well. I have a IPhone 13 PM and still I don’t have courage to do this!😂
What phone did you used?
Oh yes! I like your start video! I am thinking on doing this as well! Flip phone yeah
That’s true❤
Wow 😮
For the texting issue in particular, I know that there were specific types of phones with a full (albeit small) slide-out keyboard back in the day right before smartphones started getting popular! Pressing the buttons from my experience took some force, but you get used to it after tinkering with it for a little bit. All the other issues though, I completely understand :P There are quite a few things required to live in the modern era that can't exactly be thrown away, like Email for example. Most jobs encourage digital application nowadays. Kinda wild.
Im going to give my bar exams next month. Is it okay if i use flip phone all my life as a lawyer ? Are you a lawyer now too ?
love this idea but for those who want to try it themselves without a flip phone maybe deleting apps or using parental controls to limit their screen time could definitely help.
I just take breaks from my iPhone.! I get much more stuff done this way.! And feel much more energized and more clear in my mind.!!!
I can remember back when Motorola first offered a camera on a flip phone. This was like 1999 I think or maybe 1998 or maybe it was 2000. Anyway, it was the first camera offered in a flip phone. And at the time I was using a Motorola Startac. I laughed when I saw the commercial I thought what kind of an idiot would buy a phone with a Camera, I mean come on really all you need to do is take your camera with you to get a picture. A phone camera would be terrible quality and would be a complicated mess. Today I use an iPhone 16 Pro Max 😂
Okay but I need a tutorial on how you blinged it
I totally agreed with you, I too unplugged myself out of my rut that I have been struggling for years, but not just any dumb phone, but even dumber than ever. I was the only kid who master this technique that nobody in my age had success with, the one and only, the rotary phone. I've used it for six months and it changed my life like a flip phone. It was the best decision because I too been addicted to my smartphone for 7 years until I had enough. Dumber and dumb phone for the W.
I hope i never go back to a smart phone.
When ever you do something for the first time you’re always going to struggle and gradually you’ll improve little by little and be able to see you’re mistakes beforehand
I like how conscious you are around you’re surroundings
I wish I could go back to just make calls when I had my flip phone and just listening to music. I used to flip my skinny Motorola phone like a butterfly knife thinking I was sick 🤘🏼. But I’m too addicted to TH-cam and my emulators on my Android and iPhone
I would be impressed and you would catch my attention like wow someone different and pure
"cold, dead, and missing it's loyal owner" lmfaoooo
Its you !
Good video, i do the same, w the tcl phone. One good thing is it does data sharing as a hotspot. So going back to the old days keep your phone without a sim card w maps, youtube n note taking and a calculator. Use the smart phone sparingly. Tmobile allows you to use digits the voip app / text on your number. So if you do need to send a text you can do that too from your smartphone via the digits app. Cheers
It`s a FANTASTIC feeling having my mp3 collection (which is still evergrowing) transported to my sd card and having it available at all times no internet needed.
try again, but add an Ipod and a digital camera, this will be a lot more fun!
What did you use to decorate the flip phone? I use a flip phone and want to do this... would gel polish and a uv lamp work with a no wipe top coat?? I have lots of pretty gel polish paints. Let me know, please & thank you
Not for me. My whole life is in my notes app. I tried replacing it with physical notebooks. But I realized Ill quickly ran out of storage and space in my home for all the notebooks. I write a lottttt. Plus, it's so much wasted paper.. 😅
Oh, Caravaggio. My favorite Baroque painter.
LOL I had a Motorola RAZR Flip Phone in college, and I bedazzled it, too! You brought back memories 😂
5:50 lady, back in the early 00's tapping the buttons multiple times to send a text was the only way to send messages and we could all do it extremely fast and we wouldn't even need to look at the keypad cos we had the letter location memorised. Also we would be texting eachother all the time having extensive conversations. We never found it an annoyance and never found it irritating, it was super easy. I am gobsmacked at how easy young people today are irritated and brought to annoyance.
You have to remember that people who were children in the early 2000s or even the 2010s had no experience using those style of cellphones firsthand because children back then didnt have their own phones. It was their parents or older siblings using those. I was born in 2000 and my first phone was a smartphone in 2016. It makes sense why zoomers would be annoyed or frustrated by the change from a smartphone to a feature phone. The technology is incredibly different. Of course feature phones are much better. Smartphones have been a disaster for society as a whole.
I have the kyocera flip phone
The following is something I've noticed with individuals your age and younger (like my teenage niece): The more we travel forward through time, the more powerful technology gets, which in turn means that newer and newer generations will inevitably use newer technology - which includes the advent of numerous social media platforms. This has created an artificial bubble where social behaviours and emotional maturity are not what they should be. As for me, I literally only use facebook when it comes to social media. To be fair, this is typical behaviour for someone with autism like myself. I've noticed autistic behaviours in younger individuals because of the aforementioned artificial bubble created by the newer use of technology. Both the inability to socialize and the lack of social skills is very apparent. This disability is something extremely normal for someone like myself, but it should NOT be "normal" for someone your age (or younger) who is neurotypical. For example, I prefer texting over calling. But in general, that's because this is a typically normal behaviour for someone on the spectrum. But when I was younger, I can tell you... Neurotypical teenagers LOVED talking on the phone with their friends. It was the next best thing to seeing them in person. When it comes to the lack of technology vs the emergence of post-modern technology, the latter has had a massively negative impact on a social scale. Younger generations are drowning right now, and I don't see it getting any better, sadly.
she is lying
You are not addicted to your phone. You are addicted to social media. I personally was never into it to begin with so I never felt addicted.
What’s interesting is that I’ve thought about doing this but your cons is what makes me hesitate.
Great video!! I loved the thorough breakdown of your experience using a flip phone, I'm considering using one myself. Many thanks ❤
11:32 Huh? Iphones don't have expandable storage. How did you insert your SD card?
iPhones dont have SD Cards. Apple expects you to use cloud services
Awesome video!! I found myself at this point About a month ago. I deleted all of my social media apps and try to spend more time doing that don't include my phone. It's going really well and I have more time to get things done instead of wasting time scrolling and watching reels, videos, and posts. Thank you for this video. It's confirmation I'm headed in the right direction.
Based honestly, the price of freedom is steep
Using the airpods connected to nothing at the gym made me LOL omg
dunno what made me end up here. but texting is so fake, they should be happy with phonecalls. video chats are the second best to reality when your just to far away. but those can be taken in front of a computer. texting is something that really should only be for logistics
Can you make more such videos ?
I can't wait to get a Flip phone
99% of people: Likes flip phones because they get rid of addiction. 1% of people (me): Likes flip phones because theyre more addicting than regular phones.
if you save the contacts into the sim card you will have your contacts in the flip phone when you move the sim card.
You are such an amazing storyteller! I came for the phone and stayed (on the edge of my seat) for the story 😂❤
Great video, thanks for sharing!
I loved this, i cant wait to make my first plushie!!
Best solution is an old iPhone... u can still text an take pics and stuff. I have a newer iPhone I use at home for social media and stuff, but my main phone is an old iPhone SE that's only texting, calling and pics and music. Tbh I think I found the perfect baance
After I went flip phone, I didn't want to go back lol
5:59 I heard tons of people complaining about this. I quite like it! I can still send long texts (and I still do) and the only issue is having to switch keyboards when I want capital letters in the middle of my sentence or when I want the number 1 as I have to cycle through all of the symbols. I decided though a cheap flip phone wouldn't cut it as they either were too smart or had tons of irremovable bloatware. So I spent €108 on the AGM M8. Great phone.
You don't need to switch keyboards, when you reach the letter you want all you do is keep it held for an extra second or two and it changes to a capital. Been that way since the 90's.
