Wrist Lock/Arm Control Submissons from Backpack
As always in sutch demonstrations there is always a fallacy, being the uke; i'm not trying to be mean or anithing, but eaven in common selfdefence it's likely that wen a punch comes forward, it will soon come backwards, so in reality, there is no time to do anitying other than wat you call "brush" before the opponent retracts the punch. The reason this all thing of bloking like this existed in the contex of early karate were power was generated by shifting the COG of the all body to strike, witout wipping or turning the hips like in modern karate, then, if the opponent punches like that the blocking motion finds his lost meaning. Sensei Yoshitomo Yamashiro and sensei Watanabe Shinji explained this in many youtube videos. Torite done in this way is "karate to fight karate", for self defence or modern combat sports, wrestling and boxing defences are just easyer and more effective.
You really shouldn't teach
Bad drill, bring your opposite shoulder back when you throw a hook. Don’t do a sulky dance.
It's difficult to see in the short video my shoulders do rotate by way of my hips and shuffle step. Thank you for your comment and thoughts
Bingo. Or don’t forget that beginners almost always flare their elbows out because they turn their wrist too soon. Even with my experience and many bouts I still forget to bring my hands back after I punch also.
It takes alot of training and coaching to keep the elbows in.
@@Goodfellowsmma I would always flare my elbows out too soon because I would turn my wrist too soon. Once I learned to turn in it near impact my jab and right became straight
He looks like he’s slapping the bag.
The camera angle real doesn't show great impact I was more interested in showing the weight transfer through a shuffle step.
Good drill
Thanks 👍 it's definitely a great body positional drill and weight transfer drill to increase your timing and impact force.
Any questions or comments are always welcome.
I need thst shirt
Hahaha appreciate your liking the shirt
Dig the instruction too lol @@Goodfellowsmma Where can I buy the shirt tho?
@ReinGeyer unfortunately these are custom but maybe sometime we'll make them available.
@@Goodfellowsmma please hmu immediately if that happens... G is my symbol 🤙
Good tips 👍
Thank you our goal is to provide options for coaching and fighters to improve from our experience of coaching athletes.
Oh really? 😂😂
This is something I see alot in beginners
This smells like Bologna
Interesting analysis but this is extremely common in beginners and can be overlooked and become a big problem for them as they try to develop
I like pastrami better yet Bologna is also tasty though.
Free diamonds. Big big thank you for that. Salute.
Your welcome
You tried that’s what counts
I see most beginners doing this important portion of a jab incorrect.
Can you also kick the outside Leg while still engaging?
Absolutely as you develop rhythm , timing, and distance and always remember most everything you do has counter movement s you need to be aware of. Thank you for your comment
What I do like about the technique is that it’s very non-committal. All 3 parts can be easily swapped out of abandoned without defeating the point of the technique. It’s quick and doesn’t require a large commitment of force or motion. Hand trap? Can do a million things afterward. Hitting them arm? If it breaks posture, great. If not, it makes little difference since it didn’t take a lot to do that strike anyway. You can use the elbow instead, ignore that it didn’t work and just keep going, or switch to a different strategy in real time without fucking yourself over Striking the neck? It’s great if it does work. If not? Stiffen your arm and keep the motion going to start grappling. Or it’s not a big deal since the strike took little force and no real body motion to make work, so you can just keep moving on like you didn’t even do it. Or move the strike through, so instead of applying pressure to grapple, you graze the neck and can wind up a different strike like a hammer-fist. Plus it’s easy to make all 3 motions more effective by adding more motion and mass to each movement.
Very in depth comment much appreciated you took this much thought process and understand the many options as there are in many martial arts and practices of self defense. It's not set in stone what someone should do nor is it an absolute solution but a combined effort to begin the process of personal protection. Thank you for your comment.
Dumb ways to die...
I appreciate your thoughts on such a short video it obviously doesn't explain everything but there's a long version that explains the dangers and time .
Oss! 🥋
Glad you enjoyed this thank you.
Slipping inside can get you rear roundhouse kicked to the face
That's why you must keep your hands high and elbow close to your body to defend the leg knee and right counters. This is all about the right timing 👌 👏
@@raffiqmiah788remember this is just an option and there are many of them so choose one or two variations to add to your game.
Bullshido
You just moved a leg
Technically yes your shifting your weight driving toward the opponent s center covering your head with a high guard to defend his right hand and keeping your elbow tight to defend against a kick or counter knee strike. It's pretty simple as long as you develop your timing.
Great technique, it's almost identical to one of my combat hapkido techniques
Thank you this is a shortened version video . A longer version is available on our TH-cam channel Goodfellow's MMA. I glad you found comparable s to other martial arts it's great to see other styles and how they're comparable and yet quite different.
won't work in real life
Yeah it will. It just doesn’t end there, and it’s not guaranteed to break their posture. That’s like saying a foot sweep doesn’t work in real life. Yes it does, look at any judo competition. Just not 100% of the time and not always by itself.
Interesting enough you've concluded that from a small clip video. I appreciate your comment as it allows a deeper explanation of the movements . This is only a fraction of a movement pattern that is not at all intended to be applied in every scenario. This is just a quick short clip. The variations are virtually endless as to combination striking, and grappling leaving a plethora of actions to take as in a reality scenario nothing is set in stone. One must look deep into martial arts training to truly become applied in the arts. As an example if your a boxer and someone grabbed your hands does that mean your boxing doesn't work ? "No" it means you best have an option or athletic attributes to allow you to free your hands. Thank you for your comment and observations much appreciated 👏
Works
It's very effective even at the highest levels of combat hence you see it in boxing, kickboxing and MMA all time. This is a very short version that doesn't cover possible counters or timing issues and such ,but the longer version is on our TH-cam channel Goodfellow's MMA with alot more detain. Thank you for your comment
Thank you
Your very welcome I hope it was helpful as a short video we're trying to put get info into a short video. Long version s of most things I post can be found on our TH-cam channel Goodfellow's MMA
i like your clip.
I'm glad you enjoyed this short clip we have longer video on our TH-cam channel Goodfellow's MMA if your interested.
@@Goodfellowsmma the short video speaks the world
Okay, so as a taller fighter you would want to raise the elbow and take a step back to avoid this counter?
If your opponent doesn't punch over your elbow then you can fade back and snap your left jab into a left hook.
Age Uke
Yes it is in a strking fashion
What if someone just knocks your ass out?
Now lets watch it in full speel when he hits you with the right hook 😂😂😂😂
I'm glad you noticed his right hand is able to be thrown except this is only a short clip of part of the technique the alternative s are in another video demonstration showing your grip action and instantly striking then go to the overhook arm bar that if applied would at the very least incapacitate his arm .
Thats why you see it so often in mma and muay thai huh? Oh wait I've literally never seen it done that way, ever.
Not sure what you are exactly referring to if your referring to professional fighters you be correct if your referring to beginners you see this mistake in most beginners until they develop pelvic tilt with forward movements as would happen in reality. This is just a quick short clip the full tutorial is available on our TH-cam channel Goodfellow's MMA and covers alot more details. Thank you for your comment
😂😂 and if someone with your credentials hasn’t seen it done this way , it must never happen ! 😂😂
Lol
I'm glad you enjoyed it, it's our goal to show how karate can be applied if it's based on singular contact self defense
Any questions send them in we're more then welcome to engage. Lots more details coming
Any questions are welcome lots more coming
Add any questions you have we'll do our best to give you as much information as possible don't hesitate to inquire.
Excellent Why don't more coaches teach this ? It is the basics of movement
Sometimes coach s don't get to experience this or are simply not trained in . High level coaching never overlooks the obvious but less experienced Sometimes do.
TYsm
Your very welcome our goal is to provide real-time information in a relative self defense situation and strategy to deal with an attack scenario.
I feel like an idiot for making this mistake
This is a fairly normal mistake and one that you normally can't really see yourself unless there's a mirror so it's up to good coaches to correctly adjust your headmovement with your legs.
Yo thanks man >:D The best coach ever!
Any time! We're trying to provide quality information from our experience in order to help improve everyone's training.
Super🥊
Glad you like this it's something I see alot so I figured it might be useful for people to have some basics to work with.
Wtf is that 😂
This is a slowed down version of an up jab that you mostly only see high level fighters use and is used in the Philly shell style of boving.
😂😂
This is fun technically advanced jab to work on.
Great information. I really like the Samurai images on the right side.
Glad you enjoyed the information we're releasing more bunkai application soon. The art peice is a custom airbrush design by Vince Goodeve custom motorcycle painter, that does amazing work.
Thanks coach 🙏
Any time! It's our goal to provide quality information if your looking for more details check out the full tutorials on TH-cam.
no do not do this that is terrible advice
Its only terrible if you don't know how to apply it or time it correctly hence it's more advanced. This is simply a quick display not a full tutorial but I appreciate your comment thank you.
Excellent breakdown. Appreciate it sensei.
Your very welcome our goal is the give quality information intended to clarify some of the illustrations in karate and or misunderstanding of the function of karate as a whole.
@@Goodfellowsmma what's your opinion on karate vs muay Thai or any other art?
@@Nonamam karate was never intended for mutual combat against other skilled martial arts. It's original intended purposes was personal self protection from random acts of human aggressive behavior. But styles like kyokusin karate because of the hard hitting nature of the style it has proven effectiveness against muaythai and other disciplines. My real opinion varies purely on how a martial art is trained and it's intended purpose. All martial arts has something to offer and if blended I believe you can find the best solution for most combat situations. Thank you for this comment.
No, it leaves you wide open twice
This is a simple tactic to draw the opponents hands and elbows toward their center opening up the ribs on the side to land your right hand.
Those aren't hooks those are haymakers
Yes they're but you'd be surprised how many people I see swing at a heavybag this way😂
first of all when you throw a hook your arm should protect your head same with jab
Absolutely correct this video is primarily aimed towards beginners and the biggest mistake I see is swing wide and leaving elbows out.
Great coaching!!
Glad you think so! It's our goal to provide quality information for beginners to advanced competitors.
Very good advice for beginners!
