The BEST Uses of "Llevar" in Spanish for beginners
The verb Llevar in Spanish has a lot of different uses & these 2 uses in particular are the most beneficial in my opinion for beginners.
First, ignore the word for word translation from english as it won't make sense.
To express the duration of time that you have or have not been doing something is what you'll learn to say in Spanish today.
1: How to say how long you've been doing something:
Llevar + period of time + gerundio
Llevo seis meses viviendo en Madrid
(I have been living in Madrid for 6 months)
2: How to say how long you have not been doing something:
Llevar + period of time + Sin + verbo (infinitive)
Llevo ocho meses sin trabajar
(I haven't worked for 8 months)

    Why is it llevo I thought it would be he estado

    • @spanishwithhoani
      @spanishwithhoani 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Good question, "he estado" is the literal translation from English. I've been to Spain a lot & they use Llevar & would never say "he estado" but there are some countries in South America that use "he estado" so you can use it depending on where you go. If you want a uniform way of saying this that works across all Spanish speaking countries though then Llevar is perfect.

      Fair enough, you have to find people that resonate with you personally & that's different for everyone. I agree, I think 70-80% of your learning should come from natives, which is the case with me, most of my teachers are natives but I also learn from non natives 20% of the time as they can explain certain structures differently that make sense for me as a native english speaker. Good luck with it all
