So basically he's saying that his glasses greatly increase his IQ
Ok so after 15 minutes of prep talk and 3 minutes of poisoning the well against anyone who questions his “evidence” Josh finally gets to presenting his case. What he doesn’t tell you is , nobody mentions an “empty tomb” for over 40 years after Jesus’ death. Peter doesn’t mention an “empty tomb” , Paul never mentions an “empty tomb” nobody, for at least 40 years puts down one drop of ink on a parchment about an empty tomb and then all of a sudden, when they start writing resurrection narratives about Jesus an “empty tomb” appears. Then we have Joseph of Arimathea , Josh makes a big deal about this man, “we know he’s a rich man , we even know where he comes from!!!” What Josh doesn’t tell you is we don’t have any records outside of the gospels that this man even existed. Josh doesn’t tell you, we don’t know where Arimathea is, there’s no archaeological evidence that the place ever existed. And it’s a little odd that a highly regarded person in the Sanhedrin would out himself as a secret disciple of Jesus by publicly putting the body of a condemned heretic in his family tomb. That would created some very awkward conversations in the office on Monday morning would you say? No Josh, the empty tomb and Joseph of Arimathea, just like most of the martyrdom stories are church lore. You presenting them as facts is very manipulative and you are a very emotionally manipulative speaker. You know you are, that’s whey you even said “I’m not playing music some I’m not trying to emotionally manipulate you”. You are manipulating these poor people by selling lies and you know they are lies. You are a horrible horrible person who was made that way by an equally emotionally damaged father.
"Lying For Jesus" is STILL LYING.
It wouldve been funny if sometime michael heiser had showed up with a question 😂 thatd be a cool crossover
29:04 i know hes pretending, but there is evidence for the exodus 😂 titus Kennedy, his source, points to the early exodus based on archaeologylol
This would be an example of apologists lying about the Exodus.
Yeah, but there's also pretty good evidence that the exodus wasn't literal. Israeli archeologists have gone through early sites in Israel, and it looks like the original Israelis were just outgrowths from tribes already living in the area (not a big, sudden migration from Egypt).
@@inotterwords6115 uhm.. no. The amarna letters say otherwise
@@Bazooka_Sharks Most scholars says that the Apiru mentioned in the Armana letters were not the Israelites. For one, the Armana letters say that they were allied with the Amorites (which the Israelites were not, in the Old Testament).. More importantly, even if the Apiru were the Israelites, the letters mention nothing about the Exodus (only the conquest of Canaan).
Wow, these people are not all peetending, right. Just JMcD. They know so little 😮
Amen!!!!!!!!
If I told you I walked on water, and there were about 100 witnesses who said I did, would you believe it? Now what if it happened 2000 years ago, using sources that were all of dubious origin - many later being proven to be faked or written by others? That's basically the bible. That's basically your evidence for the resurrection. Its a horrible standard of proof. Amen to science and rational thinking :). And down with religion :D
I'm puzzled. You could be a bit less naive in portraying your character. I do not feel we make a good service when we do not engage the best arguments in the best way
Dr. McDowell gave a somewhat lackluster performance as an atheist, but not without some authenticity. I give him a B-. I would recommend that you look up the Harmonic Atheist on YT. On his channel you can hear many ex-Christians give authentic testimony as to why they are now atheists.
So if you have "evidence"...there's no need for faith, is there?
Faith means trust ya know?
@@therock3942 So God and Jesus and the Bible are true, totally proven by evidence...but the "faith" part is that you trust them?
@@therock3942 Hebrews 11:1 according to the book it's not about trust. It's about being confident in things you can't see.
@@mashah1085 So well said. This claim is absolute nonsense
Evidence does not delete the neccesity of faith. You have a lot of evidence of the love of your best friends. However you never took them to a lab and tested it biochemically. You have faith and trust in them at the same time ypu have evidence to it.
Sean has gotten so good at this that I now believe that he is probably an Atheist who just pretends to be a Christian.😅
"Jesus performed miracles in front of people and they still didn't believe"...is the excuse apologists give for why God has been a "no-show" on miracles in front of large numbers of people, especially in the post-19th Century, since the invention of photography, cinema, and video. "Oh, God could make manna rain from Heaven, but he won't because you still wouldn't believe it was a miracle."....sort of like the old "I can fly around like Superman, but I won't do it because then you'd reveal my secret powers and the Government would kidnap me."
Miracles, it is very interesting subject to talk about (with christians), but often then not, they dont "believe" it possible for miracle to happen.
@@whelperw The "miracle of healing" "oddly" tends to fall right in line with random chance. "Miracle healing of terminal cancer" occurs at exactly the same rate as the expected remission rate of that cancer. And the ONLY people who get to go around and claim it WAS a miracle...are the survivors, not the people who die.
I don't think a lack of modern day miracles is a strong case against God's existence. If God does exist, he's not required to do miracles; the miracles in scripture are done at specific times for specific reasons. Just because God is capable of something, that does not necessitate that he do that thing publicly or often. Human beings are capable of terrible violence and cruelty; yet most people are not violent or cruel. Doesn't mean we can't be; just means we choose not to be. Similarly, God has chosen to reveal himself primarily through his word and his church. That doesn't mean he's incapable of miracles; it just means he typically chooses not to interact with us like that. Jesus himself actually talks about situations like this in a very sobering parable in Luke 16:19-31. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that one reason Christians say this to you is because of that passage.
@@fantasmilfilms100 we don't talk here about deism, we talk about christianity. Your excuse would be used by LITERALLY anybody who believes in miracles.
@whelperw maybe so. But considering that Christians believe in a deity (God), that observation doesn't nullify the points I made above.
This “atheist” sounds like an asshole. I see what you’re doing there. How about next time you bring in a real atheist ?
I saw my mother rise from the dead and walk to the shops. What is the evidence ? I saw it.
Did anyone else see your mother raised and if so how many people? Is her tomb empty? Would you be prepared to spend the rest of your life proclaiming your mother's ressurection and to die for that belief? Could you organise a community of people who also saw her and who are prepared to dedicate their lives to proclaiming that belief?
@@gareth2736 I saw her too. And 500 of my friends saw her too.
@@LindeeLove I was in one of the shops when she walked in… and 20 of my friends saw her too and were tortured to death but swore that they actually saw her with their last breath.
@@gareth2736I saw her raised from the dead and I was with 500 people. You don’t need to know their names just believe what I’m saying.
@@bonsaitomato8290 Paul never said he was with the 500 people. He does mention other people by name who saw Jesus raised as well as this 500 where it is heavily implied the recipients of the letter would have known who at least some of them were.
I thought you were talking about evidence You have to have enough evidence to think that someone actually rose from the dead And what you're saying I believe the people were sincere when they said that he rose from the dead that's not evidence He was only on the cross for a few hours maybe he didn't actually die Maybe at twin brother There could be a whole bunch of reasons why somebody It's seen after death and even just aliens faking it is better than that of a man dying and coming back from the dead If you have to have enough evidence that it happened that it dispensed disbelief it would obviously happen to everyone that dies If I told you that ate breakfast yesterday you might just take me at my word why not If I told you I had a pet dragon in my barn you'd wanna see it if I said it was invisible You'd wanna be a little feel it That said it was you can't feel it either it's the existence of a different plane of existence But really it's there I'm gonna have to compose some serious evidence to prove that that's the case You didn't do that I'm very disappointed Jesus said that you would have the ability to perform greater science than even me With the faith of a mustard seed you could move mountains We wouldn't have hospitals we just have christians pray of it pray over us and we get better That would be some evidence That's a big claim As you pointed out with Christopher Hitchens his famous statement was extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence
Delusion boy point it right back to Donald Trump again there are people saying that antifa was responsible for the January 6th They swore this on all their right wing channels on news My brother pointed out to me trying to tell me that these people were all antifa and black lives matters and not from supportersWhile watching it on film and watching the 3% is proclaiming the violenceRight in front of him
There are people that rob the graves for lots of reasons He had many disciples Not just a 12 yet huge following Look how devout the trump Followers are they still believe he won the election There are still people that believe Elvis is alive
I'm just as sad so you see and now you believe better is it for those that have not seen and still believed And then flew a jet into a building and killed everybody for their beliefs Just aside muslims do believe in Jesus
Ever hear of any suicide bombers, Kamikaze People are going to die for lots of ideas even ideals
The only thing not believable about Sean's performance is; I've never see an atheist so up beat about his new found lack of belief.
You need to get out more.
I was pretty upbeat about my new found lack of belief, when I realised I wasn't in fear of eternal suffering. I'm not going to be an arsehole to you, I'm here to hear others opinions however, I'd much rather you didn't spread misinformation about atheists, in the same way I won't spread misinformation about you.
this school must have a real bad bug problem with those big blue lights on stage 😂
Great way to make the point! I trust the lesson will stick in our mind for a long time. Bless the Lord for using you for this Impact!
What exactly was the take-away btw? Cuz from my perspective he basically carpet-bombed the audience and then passed out bandaids at the end. The end message seemed to be "I know you got an incredible compelling argument, but like be nice and act Christian. Thanks. Bye!"
"Evolution" isn't how we "got here". That would be abiogenesis.........for the next time you pretend to be an atheist. Other than that, you did a fair job of "pretending the atheist". Having said that, there is truth to the statement that there isn't any credible or verifiable evidence of the Bible claims. Is Christianity actually true? I understand McDowell believes it to be true. But from an actual atheist [agnostic atheist], there is an issue of honesty...and how I can only view this topic. The things you said "as the reason you're an atheist" were mostly valid. But I'm not "an atheist because of evolution and the Big Bang". But I do like that you point out that even Christians can be abusive towards atheists. I've been in _more_ conversations with Christians than I can remember where they were extremely condescending, arrogant, verbally abusive, twisting my words, putting words in my mouth, etc. What this demonstrates is that the Christian is 1. lacking actual arguments, or 2. is just a nasty person, regardless of their worldview. I hope that, at least, these students realize that civil conversation is of value, even if the atheist doesn't accept your claims.
"The heart of the problem is the problem of the heart." Not really. I can hear someone speak words from an ancient belief system and not be moved by it. The claims of supernatural happenings are just that....claims...and claims that could never be verified. That is the actual issue at hand. It's not a matter of "not wanting to believe it",...but "having no good reason _to_ believe it. "Pride" and "sin" have nothing at all to do with it.
The question "who made god" isn't a good one to ask...because Christians will predefine it as "something without cause". It's a presupposition. Again, cannot be verified,...only believed.
We cannot say that "the universe had a beginning". Your "atheist glasses persona" stated this. We do not know what was before "the Big Bang",...and there are some physicists who may not even accept Big Bang cosmology anymore, but that's beside the point. No one can say "the universe had a beginning".
Taking "Dr." McDowell down is as easy as challenging him to back up his "God is good" claim with a list of hypothetical acts which cause so much pain, misery, suffering and grief that, although he believes his "evil Satan" might perpetrate such acts against people, his "good" god _never_ would. Watch him balk! 🤣
Not at all. Sean has an answer for your accusation that God is a moral monster. It probably goes something like this: “How can you, a creation of The Creator, put The Creator on trial? You need only read Job to understand how foolish such a position is. You are attempting to judge a being who is eternal. You are attempting to judge a being who became human and suffered horribly so that He could redeem those who would seek Him and trust Him. Your problem is you don’t understand how sinful sin really is. You don’t understand what God being HOLY really means. You can’t fathom how filthy you are…how filthy we all are in fact. Without the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross there was no way for a holy God to restore fallen man to who he was created to be. You are proud and think yourself wise and yet if you continue on your current path you will die in your sins. And though you don’t even likely believe that sin is a real thing…you will die in it. You will be separated from God for eternity. This material life is not the end. God is spirit and you will learn that you do indeed have a spirit. Please…seek to disprove the Bible. Dive deep and do everything possible to disprove it. But honestly go about it. And in so doing may you undergo the same reluctant conversion that turned C.S. Lewis and made him a powerhouse champion of the Bible. Yes, seek to utterly disprove God’s WORD. Please…”
@@davidhawkes1981 Yeah, sadly bad answers are still answers.
To understand atheism, just swap gods for other hypothetical beings e.g. Martian microbes. Do they exist? Most people are neutral. This is agnostic nonbelief. Some fewer believe they do not exist. This is agnostic disbelief. A very rare few will outright claim they don't exist. This is gnostic denialism. Same with atheism & gods.

We should have explained more. All but 2 of these kids are homeschooled. They like to joke back and forth with the public school and Christian school kids about their different experiences. I wrote this sketch and I am a home school mom. Joking reduces the tension. Did you notice, at the end of this drama, it is the homeschool girl who stands up for herself and says "I like being innocent!" and then she took charge and gave the best idea anyone had during the sketch.
