Paul it’s always a pleasure watching your work of Art. I’m still upset that I couldn’t get you to make me a bat on the same day when I went to England in 2018. 😂
I can only apologise but sometime not everything is possible im afraid, such is life. we do try our best but we cannot please everyone all the time
@@aldredcricketbatsltd no worries mate. Keep up your art work. Keep the bat making trade skills alive.
Beautiful profile 😊
Hello sir ❤️❤️❤️ First kindly stop turning off comments section. Why did you turned off!! Whose abusing you here?? Hmm Secondly I need to know how can I increase weight of my bat without adding extra grip, sticker, and binding!??? Kindly tell me how to increase weight without adding those stuff ASAP.
Merry Xmas to you sir I hope you are well. Sorry have I upset you in some way without knowing it? If so I do apologise. Not a lot you can do other than insert heavier timber in to your bat. If you’d like to speak to me personally please feel free to email me or better still call me and I can give you honest feedback and my opinion there.
@@aldredcricketbatsltd merry Christmas ⛄☃️☃️☃️ to you to sir. Surely I'll be making call to you. Biggest fan from India 😍😍🙏 John
I follow your work on facebook too... But why no videos for a long time here?
Thank you for following. Simple answer has been time. If you’ve followed us through covid to now you will have seen we have hand built ourselves our timber frame cedar workshop from start to finish we have employed someone full time we have been fighting government legislation on cricket protection for the sake of the industry as well as turning out another record number of bats each year by hand. Not much time left for TH-cam and keeping our group page going but hopefully will be doing something soon
Masterclass! Learnt so much.. Thank you
Lovely looking bat
I can't seem to reply to you on the conversation thread, so I'll try here. Hah thanks for the insightful comment, I had a hunch it was just a marketing gimmick, but wasn't completely sure. You're right Viv, Botham or gilchrist wouldn't have had issues hitting sixes with probably any type of bat (within reasonable limitations). Ah that's surprising that the old style bats felt incredible and powerful to you, as to me they look quite slim and minimalistic. But maybe that is because I'm used to seeing the larger-looking modern day bats. Has most of ot bat-making market shifted to accommodate modern trends? Since the older cricketers say can’t find bats that feel the same as they used to be. Cheers
Hi Paul, not sure if you take video requests. if you do would you be able to make a video on 'flat' blade bats (the normal ones) and 'bowed' blade bats (they have a slight curve in them). I have heard that it helps for getting more 'lift' when hitting balls in the air, but would like to know your opinion. Thanks.
Personally having played when we used traditional bats with little to no bow and no offset handles and it’s nonsense. I don’t think Viv or Botham had issues hitting sixes or gilchrist, it’s just something that came in. The old style bats felt incredible for me, powerful. I have many older cricketers stating they can’t find bats that feel the same as they used to be until the come to me
Aldred very informative video. If you could share you email or contact number I wouldnlike to discuss something with you. Thanks
Vice needs some lubricant.😉. But seriously great to watch. All the best .
It’s greased regularly it’s just it’s own noisy personality. It is about 80 years old to be fair to it
Always the Best kind👍🏻
Do you have a website where you sell your bats and bat prices? I'm looking for one that's good for sloggers - I'm from the US
😂 www.aldredcricketbats.com
Quick question love what your doing seems great just wondered what your thoughts are on world class willow thanks
I have no thoughts.
What’s the difference between 3-4 rounds of pressing at 4000 psi, and 7-8 rounds of pressing at 2000-2500 psi ?
I don’t press with pressure gauges I do it with feel of each cleft as everyone needs different pressure. But one will be steadier pressing than the other, same amount in the end but gentler. But as I say I go by feel not a set gauge as it’s a natural product so needs to be treated as such in my very humble opinion
@@aldredcricketbatsltd I’ve seen a video of your pressing procedure, and I comprehend, and, agree to, what you just told me. I’ll be grateful if you could answer a follow-up question of mine. What, in your opinion, is the optimum moisture level (in %) a cleft should possess at the time it’s picked up for being crafted into a bat ? And, what’s the significance of the kiln, in reaching to that moisture content? Can’t we, simply, air-dry the cleft to the desired moisture level ?
Can’t we? Are you a manufacturer then?
@@aldredcricketbatsltd I'm not saying that...but, say, were we to get it down to around 10% moisture, why don't we put it into the kiln straight away ?
@@aldredcricketbatsltd I'm not a manufacturer; I'm only a cricket enthusiast. I've seen many a drying processes; some air dry it for 12 months, and some only upto 6 weeks; and while the British bat makers almost always use the kiln, the Indian bat makers don't. That's why I wanted to know what the Kiln does ?
Just wanted to ask your opinion on the subject of bamboo cricket bats. Look forward to some more videos - hopefully soon-. Regards, L M
I had someone bring a bamboo cleft in about 3 years ago. It weighed about 10lb. A heavy cleft of willow weighs around 5lb. So firstly a lot of r we irk to be done to make it viable weight wise. It’s all down to if the authorities sell their soul and allow a composite material to be used. And thirdly for me it’s a completely greed motivated thing. People are trying to make a quick buck out of cheap quality bats in a growing world of cricket. There’s plenty of willow if manufacturers are prepared to do a proper job and utilise all grades of willow. Personally think it won’t happen for quite a while
@@aldredcricketbatsltd Thank you for your reply, personally I would always favour willow, but would not dismiss others' rights to try bamboo if they so wished. Hope you bring out some more videos soon. Regards, L M - no reply necessary -
Hey Paul, you are my LAST RESORT. I use a 2.10 bat which is bottom heavy. It's a new handmade bat I just purchased. I am not really happy with its balance/pickup. I used to play with a double-gripped CA15000 which obviously has a 100% round handle and it felt light as a feather! What do I tell my bat-maker to fix in my new custom bat if it is bottom heavy? It has a thin oval handle (I have always used & loved fully round handled bats before) and I have 2 grips on it already but that doesn't really help with the pickup and balance. Should I get a 3rd grip? Or should I ask my bat-maker to replace the semi-oval handle to a fully round handle as I used in the past? I am a bottom handed player by the way. Or should I try something else to get better balance?
My first question is why oh why use thin round handles them stick 2 grips on it? Totally defeating having a thin handle to start with. Thin handles never pick up the same. But no two bats ever feel the same, no pros get two bats identical you always have a favourite and have to get used to the next one. Did in my professional times even more so now with mass produced bats. I’d ask your bat maker to alter the pick up for you
@@aldredcricketbatsltd Thanks so much for replying so promptly. You're absolutely right, Paul. Unfortunately, finding round handles these days is hard here in Canada. All the custom bats come with modern thin semi-oval handles here. And I'll go with your advice and instead of changing the handle or adding another 3rd grip, I will have him alter the pick up (which I suppose means to shave down the bat accordingly, yes??)
@@obliviousbanana5373 well it’s more a bit out the toe end really. 1/4 oz in the toe can have an ounce of feel in the blade
@@aldredcricketbatsltd you're a gem, Paul. And I hope you know that 💕 Wish to see you post more videos, please!!
Dear Aldred, I am a fan of your work and I make miniature cricket bats. I want to make miniature replicas of your cricket bats. Please reply.

About to order a duffle bag from your website (along with some other things). Quick question: would you know roughly how many litres it is?
Coldmouse I don’t actually but I use it to carry stuff to trade shows and get 3 sets of batting pads 2 keeping pads and about 8 sets of gloves plus other bits stashed in. It’s as big as a tour bag comfortably
Aldred Cricket Bats perfect! Thanks.

if you take a look at my website www.aldredcricketbats.com you will find everything there. we are out of stock currently hope to have fresh in a couple of weeks
Ordered this in butterfly in belgium. One of the best looking willow i have ever got for myself. The fact that Paul made this for me based on the specifications i sent him over the email. I was surprised how accurate it turned out to be. The guy knows his stuff, and despite personal commitments, he delivered the goods (One union and one silver sovereign) on time. The ping of this bat is crisp. And i have not even knocked it as yet. I believe Paul should make a detailed video of this model. This deserves more attention, as the bat is such a unique one that one of my colleague also got interested. This model has like a hitting zone with no concaving, and the response from this zone is WOW. More than the value, small businesses should be promoted, and i surely will pass on the word to other mates. Just one small thing, better go and see him in person so that you can get a feel of the bat in person. In my case the pickup and the feel is just right.
happy batting Girish, always a pleasure making people happy cricketers
Hi Paul, fan of the videos. You mention a gentle bow and I see everyone saying how a bow increases pick up quality. So what are the downsides to a bow? Why aren’t don’t all bats have big bows?
Great, what will be the price for a SH full size bat ?
ROCK should be on the website shortly. It’s £600 for the premier package
