Newcastle, but it looks like 2009
Bit of a different video for this channel, but I had this old camcorder from 2009, and I thought of recording some of Newcastle city centre. The camera quality gives the video somewhat of a nostalgic feeling.

Hello and Welcome to this video of some 2.5m/s Otis Gen2 lifts. These lifts are very awesome and decently well built for something modern like this. In this video, I only film 2 of the lifts in this set of 4 (lift 1 and 3) because 2 were not working properly (lift 2 and 4). Anyways enjoy this video. If you thought this was an April fools video, you are wrong.

    Amazing compilation. How come you just touch the relays without using an insulator stick or something? Sure, maybe the logic is a low voltage, or the relays are insulated, but that's a bit of an unnecessary risk.

    • @High-Rise
      @High-Rise 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Express relays were designed in order to be pushed from the front, and this was so engineers could send the lift to floors for testing. The front plate of the relay is fully insulated from the electrical circuit so it's safe to touch.

    Great find of old elevators, in future would you be able to slow down the camera movements? Pause on things for a little longer, less zooming in, it all feels really all over the place at the moment. Would make your content so much more awesome

      I'll keep that in mind, I tend to try to show too many things at once when filming and with the ultra wide which I usually use being such bad quality on my new phone I tend to use the 1x zoom which shows a lot less on the screen.

    It’s a shame these went out of fashion, obviously the normal lifts are quicker when travelling between a high number of floors, but these basically serve the same function as escalators with the advantage of taking up a much smaller space. I can imagine some horrific accidents happening with these though, particularly with drunk people and children so having four regular lifts instead is probably for the best when it comes to modern buildings.

    Late to the party I know, but I grew up in Chester and I know the first lift was a first generation ecodisc :) as well the boyes lift is totally awesome, and there’s another one (evans) in B&Ms but it’s staff. It does have a rear door which is just at sambucas outside so you don’t have to go in from the store. It’s risky though. There’s also a generic lift in some random place next to Lloyds but it might be for an over 18 casino or something. Awesome vid!
