Dr. Sam Parnia on the AWARE-II Study: Consciousness and Awareness during Cardiac Arrest
มุมมอง 22Kปีที่แล้ว
Survivors of cardiac arrest have long reported having heightened awareness and powerful, lucid experiences. These have included a perception of separation from the body, observing events without pain or distress, and a meaningful evaluation of their actions and relationships. The AWARE-II study found these experiences of death to be different from hallucinations, delusions, illusions, dreams, o...
Brain Disinhibition and Recalled Experiences of Death
มุมมอง 4.7Kปีที่แล้ว
With death, blood flow and oxygen to the brain stops and the brain flatlines. This removes the brain's natural braking systems, enables activity in dormant parts, seen as spikes on brain monitoring devices. These spikes in brain waves consistent with thinking, memory, and consciousness can now be thought of as possible markers of recalled experiences of death. AWARE II Paper ► www.sciencedirect...

Lucid Dying: Exploring Brain and Consciousness at the End of Life
Being healthcare worker in JHH, working with THE surgeon Dr Montgomery is one of my professional milestone :)
Fascinating
I do a thought experiment with my students - imagine there is no God - and the universe will die and all will be lost in black holes and NOTHING from your life or your children or grandchildren or anyone will remain or matter. NOTHING you do matters! Good or bad - all will end up gone and forgotten like most of the half dozen dreams you had last night. then picture God, all knowing and all loving. He cares about EVERYTHING you do or think, he can forgive the bad but this means EVERYTHING you do or think matters and changes the universe forever. Your life matters forever!!! I wrote a song long ago about this - WHO WILL CARE? Someday I'll go away, they'll put a tone upon my head, tell me will it anything matter when I am dead? The work the pain the sorry, the dreams you had last night, tell me will it matter when there is finally no light? When on some distant start that last man stands - tell me, who will answer when he lifts up his hands ? Will the cold dust weep or the dead stars cry, when that last man lays down to die?
I will never understand how people can discuss this without even touching the subject of experiences with psychedelic substances. For most people a single trip with a decent dose is enough to change their opinion on all this significantly - it is a total silly and unnecessary development of our modern society not to use these mighty compounds for getting insights into the nature of consciousness and reality.
Dont u think thats happens because of dmt ?
My 20 yr old son was electrocuted and killed instantly. CPR was immediately started by his girlfriends mother who is a nurse. He had PEA. He was flown to Pittsburgh trauma/burn and on life support because his heart could not beat. His heart was functioning at 11%. Everytime his heart stopped, more damage occurred. The doctors used hypothermia to allow his heart to rest and heal. He is now 34 years old with 2 beautiful little girls. All the doctors at UPMC Mercy told me "he has someone up above looking out for him because he should not have survived". Afterwards, I wrote a letter (email) to Dr Becker (who is in this video) and he wrote back to me!
How has the scientific definition of death evolved over time, and how have recent discoveries in the field changed our view of the process, from basic principles to mysterious phenomena that remain unexplained?
Great feature. I've always felt that Science will, one day, prove where our conciousness/energy/being moves on to/transforms into/merges with.
I met a dead man's spirit I'd never met in life. He told me about his murder & where his dismembered body parts were 1st buried & then later moved to. After I told detectives what the dead man Bill Newman had told me & his body was discovered he 'moved on'. He'd 'hung around ' as he wanted his body found so his wife & children could get his Social Security. His conscience was still alert after a yr from his death.
Near death is not real death🙄
Fantastic short documentary! Society might be very grateful for all these men and women dedicated to courageously understand death without biases.

I believe we make too much of death. It’s simply the last thing that happens in our lives.
I might actually care if I wasn't excruciatingly aware that humans are demons.
Whatever the majority of superstitious imbeciles believes happens is what happens, as long as somebody reaps a profit.
Thank you so much for sharing this
READ UNLOCKING THE MYSTERIES OF BIRTH AND DEATH BY DAISAKU IKEDA SGI INTERNATIONAL.
My spouse walked into the Desert Regional hospital in palm springs .. was dead 5 days later. What a tragedy. In a text from him he said, “ can you get over here.. the dr that was to do the survey ff-up .. someone did it…. The dr should have been charge with murder.
I dont have anxiety.. ..trying to educate myself to find out where the love of my life is since he departed. That’s it .. grief is for iLife.
"Man gotta understand" - the brain can be reanimated after death, or maybe the definition of death needs to evolve
Seen both my parents die. Don’t overthink it, death is simply the end of your life. You were born, you lived, then you reach the end and you die. The important thing is to make the most of your living years because once you’re dead you’re dead.
if youre serious about changing your life, pick up forbidden manifestation by zara blackthorn. dont say i didnt warn you.
for everyone scrolling and listening to the video, go read forbidden manifestation by zara blackthorn. then come back to thank me
The big question for me is why don't these NDEs happen to everyone or even most people or even a larger minority than the microscopic handful that we hear about? Is there some selection or preferential process that determines who is to have an NDE and who not?
If there's any validity to NDEs, why do most people come back and say that everything went black? And why are NDEs so wildly inconsistent? It's because the experience was all in that person's head. I know people want comfort in the face of death, but there's nothing after this life.
That's an impressive list of PHd's and MD's in the titles. A very well presented piece of work. Very nice to see something so scientific and open on the subject.
Dead is dead get over it. No ghosts no gods . Total loss of data no files found, not backed up. #########################################
Sht. Don’t anyone know it just doesn’t matter. We all die. It is our end. That is all. It’s okay though. Because we are all one and the same.
Is this available ANYWHERE OTHER THAN TH-cam?? what a joke. I am so interested- I'm trying to follow-- and i can't. AD AD AD AD AD EVERY 1 MINUTE AND 45 SECONDS. TH-cam IS A GREEDY JOKE.
This is such good news - I've always thought if someone drowns, especially in cold water and extra especially if a child, it should be possible to "restart" them. The fact that now the window has grown to an hour is fantastic - it means that many people can be resuscitated that otherwise would have been lost.
When a brain dead for hours is brought back to life, i presume the data/memories (that ought to require oxygen to stay)are permanently lost?
Only science is able to undisclose the top secrets..i salute to everyone who delve deeper into this vast, deepest oceans to learn new things for the betterment of the humanity and mankind. Doing such a thing without any teacher is really time taking and cumbersome. There is no thing like death, the point is we become visible for a certain period of time, before and after that period, we are there in invisible mode. I just don't understand one statement of sam parnia. He stated that anything which is biologically active have consciousness. So what about patient with paralysis affected one arm. The arm isn't dead really but don't show symptoms of any consciousness. If we say, arm is dead, then it should start decaying. Any thought please.
I’ll listen to anything Sam Parnia says
Exploring what happens when we die ...... We die ....thats it .
I’ve died twice. Believe me it was the best feeling I ever had! Death is not the end, it is the beginning!. “ Life’s purpose” is this, don’t be a Dick! We are here, together on this earth. We must work together for the good of the all. Close your myopic eye of self and open your mind to reality. At the base of every religion is the same message,” love one another”. It matters not what or how you believe, what matters is that you believe there is something greater than you that created all that is and all that ever was! As simple as this part is, to love one another, is not easily done. The nature of this beast that is man, is survival. To love one another requires us to accept/ respect ALL things as they are. That means not putting yourself first. Which is counterintuitive to survival Scientifically speaking… We are mass mass is energy Energy cannot be created or destroyed! It can only be transformed! Is there life after death? Of course there is
Amazing 👏👏👏
This was interesting till the nonsense started.. science has long debunked the life after death nonsense and near death experiences 🙄
Reading all of the comments here is very helpful. 2021 my 18yo nephew died, 2023 my 48yo younger brother died, 2024 my dad died, my mom died of cancer in 2012, im the only one left and dealing with so much death in such a short time period has caused me to have depression, anxiety and symptoms of PTSD. Ive had to go on medication, I have been thinking about going to a grief support group and also seeking individual therapy. Hearing everyone's story helps me see how we are all in this together.
Interesting
Could this procedure work for repairing the brain after a stroke? 😮
This is great! Has this been published in a peer-reviewed scholarly journal yet? I'd like to cite this, if so.
When the conversation turned into unsubstantiated anecdotes and feelings … that’s where the real science ends. Your own personal opinion is irrelevant and not worth any debate… it becomes religious faith based and therefore not based in reality.
I just feel like it will be like before you were born. Not alive
I think god created multiple universes this one being for the living body and the the other ones for the soul.
Tom and Bruce Greyson both have food related stories. I can totally see a nurse telling the patient about the doctor eating their lunch.
great filma and video. We need a translation into Italian, even with writing subtitles. Any human being has an immortal soul who, at the end of the times, will be resurrected by God together with our body. This is affirmed at the end of the Nicene Creed, the Compendium of the authentic and traditional Roman Catholic faith.
I was 21 in 1997. I was hit in the head with a fire poker. It broke through my skull and the fragments from my skull acted like a shotgun and sent small pieces went all through my brain. I lost the entire right side about 90% . It was so bad that the doctor told my mother, was a RN that worked with said doctor' that she should pull the plug on me and let me die. I died 2 times, and they brought me back. I had a dream; I don't think it was a dream because it was real to me. I can still tell you everything that happened. I was in a coma for over a month. I can't tell you what went on because it would take 3 hours. I can you this, I was given a choice to live or die by a figure shaped as a human. I chose life. I had to fight for my life in this dream. At any point the figure told me I could give up. That figure was leading me home. I was on the other side of the world when I started this all-out war to get home. When I finally made it home that figure opened my door, and I woke up. I will never fear death again.
WOW! Same here. Lost all fear of death.
Research MUST become more inclusive and integrated BEYOND physicians. ADD Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners. Physicians don't spend time with nor care for patients !!!
˹Ultimately,˺ with the throes of death will come the truth.1 This is what you were trying to escape! ˹It will be said to the denier,˺ “You were totally heedless of this. Now We have lifted this veil of yours, so Today your sight is sharp!” And one’s accompanying-angel will say, “Here is the record ready with me.” The Holy Quran
the perspective of this documentary stems from people's not viewing death as PART OF LIFE! Impermanence is a feared reality! why? the faster one accepts it the better! only then the state of beeing live has REAL MEANING, overcoming all else. 🤠😎
