On Jan 31 2024, I drove 12 hours from Sydney, Australia to the Sunshine Coast as I was moving. I was by myself the entire trip and listened to only Taylor Swift. Spotify wrapped told me that I listened to 465 minutes of Taylor Swift on 31 Jan 2024. I did the same thing when I drove back to Sydney for her concert in February 🫶

To me its so strange, that so many of you think all is about MH, but at the same time she was in a serious relationship with Joe. If it is like you all say, they she did Joe so dirty - in every way I actually dont think its all about MH, I think its more Joe in there then people think & also many of her all other ex. You are all giving to much power to a man who was a 6 weeks fling. (since she was in relationship). Also, do people think everything she writes happens? Dont think so, she is also just writing from her perspective that does not mean its the truth. But then again, she write albums of other ex who she was in a relationships with for 3-6 months. Very nice dissection of the song. The car reference might even go back to Cowboy like me. Was he using what he learned from her diary when they worked together for Midnights to chase and woo her? Was he always planning for a short relation not a forever one like Taylor seemed to hope?

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks this song is absolutely about Matty, not Joe. I was surprised when you kept talking about this song being about Joe. I don’t see that at all. The suit and tie, the lovebombing, being “reformed” (Joe would never need to be reformed) we were kids (ref to the start of this relationship in 2014), the con man reference, this just isn’t a Joe song. She’d never call Joe a low down boy or con man. A depressed introvert maybe, but this is the “integrity makes me feel small” guy. Not low down. Holy Ghost reference to being lovebombed then ghosted. Also, it was “momentary, unnecessary, and should have stayed buried.” This song is screaming Matty - a long simmering, what-if relationship that was better in her imagination than in real life. It ran hot for a fortnight, went up in smoke, and she’s mourning more the illusion-implosion than the jerk that is the actual guy.

I always love to hear what everyone is going to guess for the surprise songs. Somehow I guessed you’re on your own kid & long story short on swift alert last weekend. Don’t know how I pulled that off. Good luck guys! 🤍

One of my favorites from TTPD. This song is definitely a bop but like you guys stated so sad at the same time. Taylor does a great job showing the roller coaster of emotions that she and all of us go through at times. Love the pod as always 🤍

The tour IS ending on December 8th and it was known for a while, the swiftie theories of another show in LA just cause she didn't post about LA are delusional. you have to announce a new show/date months in advance. you can't announce a show a week before. Swifttok needs to chill out. it's getting to a ridiculous point. the theories and mathing. Taylor's easter eggs are SIMPLE!! her easter eggs are obvious! she's not counting the last 6 shows she hasn't worn the orange jumper or whatever to signal that "karma" is coming. karma was never an album and we got a song out of it, she's not gonna release an album called karma. at this point I wish Taylor would stop do any easter eggs because swifties are getting too far with it, and it's not fun. it's annoying. like with Taylor wearing plaid recently. MAYBE she just loves vivienne westwood... not everything is an easter egg!!! swifties really reuined the easter eggs. swifties are taking this too far. looking into EVERY detail. it's boring and tiring. yes, Taylor herself said she's doing easter eegs on with what she wears and hints it. but if you look at her real easter eggs, they were infront of faces. you don't need to calculate the amount of minutes she's been on stage to get to a number that will correlate to a release of rep tv. she teased the red album with a post wearing red shoes in the studio, now that's an easter egg. she wore a shirt that said "shake it off" when she performed the song "22" before she announced 1989.. these are the type of easter eggs she does. I hope none of these swiftie theories come true so that will maybe silence them, but they won't stop. they'll just laugh and say "oh, we're a bunch of clowns" and move on to another made up theory. what about enjoying the moment? enjoy the moment Taylor announces something. who cares if rep tv comes out tomorrow or in 2027? so what? and i'm a reputation stan but I don't care to math when it will be released.

Jan's name is pronounced: "Yan" I want a behind the scenes docu. but i'm not holding my breath for it. because a camera crew followed Taylor all throughout the reputation tour as well and all we got from it was a few seconds during the miss americana intro. so until she announces something, i'm not holding my breath for it. I think Taylor is being filmed all the time when she's working. we literally saw snippets of the making of a song of ready for it and look what you made me do and these episodes were never released. so there's a ton of Taylor footage that never saw the light of day.

One of the things I thought of was “the light refracts sequin stars on her silhouette every night” feels like mirrorball energy, like I just picture her spinning and the light doing the mirrorball thing, also “spinning in my tallest heels love, shining just for you.”

Glad we're all on the same page here lol. I also struggled with her saying "you're the loss of my life" to someone she only truly dated (excluding the whole 10 year hidden history) for a few weeks instead of the person she confessed in multiple songs that she hoped would be the person she would stay with for the rest of her life. but I think it's referring to more than just their brief relationship. at multiple points over the last few years, she must have imagined what it would be like to take the leap of faith, leave this long and steady relationship that we now know didn't make her that happy in the end. she is a person who lives in her head. I'm sure she dreamed up about a hundred scenarios of how she would spend the rest of her life with someone who makes her feel so much when she feels trapped feeling so little. she might have thought about all the Christmas mornings she doesn't get with him now. all the dinners catching each other up on how their respective days went. all the books they can never discuss now. she thought she would get a blissful life with him because after all, he promised her! he talked about rings and cradles, and how he would k!ll himself if she ever left! you could almost say - they almost had it all. if he hadn't left. if he hadn't taken the dreams he knew she had and promised her everything under the sun, and then left as if he hadn't. it's... tough.

Definitely about Matty. Even the first line about the waltz references Peter which is also about Matty. I think it would be fun if yall redid this episode through the Matty lens, honestly the song makes much more sense that way haha

Below is all my opinion I am writing that here so that I do not have to preface everything with it to keep it polite. I see this whole song as being about Matty. This song is a whole lot sadder then So Long, London, but Taylor puts the for her most emotional impactful track for her on 5. If this was the synopsis of their 6 year relation this would have been track 5 but because it was a short dagger to the heart it was painful but not as emotional as the years of struggle that she had with Joe to keep their relation working. Your Suit and Tie is a reference to the Jehova Witness suit that was referenced later, I haven't seen Joe pictures where he is wearing a real suit while Matty wears them all the time. The connection and thoughts that she had for Matty were a lot bigger and deeper than you guys seem to think. There are some real nice videos out about the timeline between Matty and Taylor. I came in with Travis and did not know a thing about Taylor outside her being a country singer. When I listened to TTPD I had a real hard time understanding it but one of the first videos that I watched after was a Taylor/1975 fan that explained who Matty was and pointed out a lot of the connections that TTPD songs had with 1975 songs, the band or Matty. (Chocolate, the Blue Nile, Cinephile etc) The Holy Ghost line is her putting that person on the pedestal like Nick says but that it is really the persona that was build up like Lacey said and not the person because that person could not live up to the persona. And it was Matty that she swirled her into all of her poems, it was Matty's persona that is Peter, that is in the love triangle on Folklore. Next paragraph is how I see Matty and Taylor and this helps me finding my truth in TTPD I think Matty always intrigued her back from when they met in 2014. A bit the wild site to her good girl image. There was a kindred spirit that she saw in him. She had fun writing about what she thought was him in her mind, and there might have been some back and forth lyrics between them. But it was a persona that she kept contributing to. Need some excitement in a song, a bit of a hihi, a bit of butterfly inducing danger? Put it on a coat hanger and hang it on the Matty persona. When they finally met again was when she was writing Midnights and he was in the same studio. He probably commented on her feelings about Joe (I see Midnights as a break up album) They spend time writing together but while nothing came from it song wise her diaristic writing gave him the ammo to s-talk her under the table, to make promises that he would pr could not keep. But that, and her attributing her Matty persona to him, was how he got the girl, and then lost it when the pressure to live up to his persona and the promises he made made him buckle. Con man do not take 6 years to do what they want to do. Ana feels like it is about the start of a relation but then why go back to Joe 5 albums ago and not make the connection with the whirlwind one that forced her to write the album. Cinephile in black and white. Joe has no black and white movies, the 1975 music videos are however, they dress on stage in black and white as well. The changing the Reputation suit from red to gold that Ana says at 38:53 could also be the Alchemy. Alchemy is amongst other things about turning useless metals into gold amongst. It's fitting with the Coming back so strong as a reference to coming back to the US or a US guy when she Touched down on home soil. The English Lion is an Heraldic sign of bravery, it is also where the Lion in Alice in Wonderland comes from. The coward claimed he was a Lion is just brilliant storytelling to me. He ended the relation you say but So Long, London he accuses her of not trying upon which she says she was going down with the ship indicating it was her that finally ended it while Matty ghosted her. I think the final loml refers to the conclusion that all the time, excitement, hope and dreams (guilty as sin?) she put in building up the persona she thought was Matty in her head, it turned out it was for naught. She stopped trying with Joe for a chance to get the "what if" guy and it all came crashing down. So many of the poems she swirled him into were suddenly empty. I think that with some of the brilliant surprise song mashups she is shifting them away from the now empty Matty persona towards Travis (could be a horrible trap if it does not work out).

Separating for a month with your boyfriend is not a rekindled flame and something you should dig up. I think she's referring to Matty and her situation a decade ago😬

Maybe something nice to discuss how much does the Anthology release block the opportunities for announcements? This week was the first one that TTPD was not in the top 10 albums on Billboard, I think that is partially because of the Anthology announcement but it was nr 10 last week so she was dropping a bit already. I think that the Anthology with how much album sales count will get her back to nr 1 but I do not know for how long. But if she goes 2 weeks at nr 1 we are at her birthday. If she announces something then will that diminish the hype around the Anthology? Maybe another chance at a prediction game what will come in what order. Eras tour documentary, Debut TV, Rep TV and TS12?

The premise of the song is a nice dilemma as you guys discussed. For boys it seems more beneficial to be a bad boy when they are younger because that is how you get the girl. But then when they get older that same attitude that was encouraged and rewarded by women in their youth suddenly gets called toxic male behavior and misogynistic. This dilemma is also the bases of some of the more toxic parts off the internet regarding male/female relationships.

The wedding could also be a nod to Jacks wedding that almost got ruined by all the people there trying to see her. This is why so many fans are now not amused about the picture of another wedding that she attended coming out. I see that as the fandom starting to police itself a bit. Selfishly I am a bit thankful that they tried to dig dirt on Travis. When my timeline suddenly got flooded with all that stuff instead of the football I was following him for it made me start looking into the Taylor Swift Universe.
