Interesting, I am currently doing the same setup minus the camera for an Alaska trip. I hope vibrations don’t become an issue . Let me know how it holds up . Nice setup enjoy.

1/2 quart of oil in 1,000 miles. that seems like something to worry about.

380 degrees! My first bike was a air cooled 450. Im glad I never had anything to tell me how hot it got. That just sounds scary. Wonder how much cooler it would be with the oil cooler

Love your setup. A Gryffin with the 450 cc used on their other bike would be perfect.

Richard, this is so cool. Earlier this month I ordered a Halcyon 250 and it sure would be an experience of a Lifetime to make this sort of trip. I'd make it a long leisure trip if it were me. Such a beautiful bike.

I was fool enough to spend over 10K on the Janus 250. Worst purchase decision I've ever made. Frankly, Janus bikes are pure garbage. The selling point is the attractive, vintage look and the company's small town, made-in-America, persona. It's all phony. These videos are made by Janus employees or paid hacks. The bike can barely top 40mph. Dangerously slow. The gas tank holds less than 2 gallons. The lack of rear suspension makes the ride a torture. Nothing but repair after repair. I've bought a Royal Enfield 350 and It's a welcome pleasure. All I can do is park the Janus in my garage and let it rot. It's too much of a pain to try to sell it. And, I don't want to pass this crap on to some unsuspecting buyer. Don't even think of buying anything from Janus. Take my advice. I learned it the hard way.

What about a spacer tube that keeps the tip further out with bango type washers? Because without a gauge you wont know when your oil is above 230°f. A fan asisted oil cooler radiator is the best way to go if you long ride. If you only short ride then you need nothing 240°~285° normal head temp and 190°~212° normal oil temp with about an hour of riding, more then that you can notice your oil going above 230°F.

Same mileage as my new 1978 VW Rabbit 1500 cc diesel. Highway or city.....50 plus miles per gallon. It must be the air cooling and aerodynamic drag that cuts the mileage on a motorcycle. 1500 cc vs 250 cc. Quite a difference. I would think that it should get near 100 mpg at a steady 30 mph, no head wind. What do you think??

Yea, and Richard is a big dude. 6'6". Beautiful Motorcycle. That 250 is a work of art. They are selling like hotcakes right now. Bit of a waiting period, because they are made by hand, ground up.

But $13.500 is just too much money for a single cylinder 450 motorcycle that will lose 30% of its value the day you buy it!

Nice video! Beautiful motorcycle! I want to do this event now! I have a V Star250. I’m just learning to ride. I’m a former ultra-distance bicyclist with congestive heart failure, therefore I now have a motorcycle. I road the V Star250, 398 miles in the last two days. What great fun it is. In my experience, you will find it easier to acquire more speed through improvements in aerodynamics than any other way. Look at the bicycles of “self supported long distance bicycle racers” for an idea of what I’m talking about. Essentially, the side or saddle bags need to go. Everything that won’t fit into the bags that sit along the centerline of the motorcycle, you don’t need. I used to always remind new ultra-distance bicycle riders, “we are not leaving civilization, so don’t carry anything you can purchase along the route!”
