I hope that you get something from my channel that inspires you, keeps your tank full, when you feel depleted and just enjoy memories of old, nature and the blessings of life. My life as a musician and songwriter, has been shaped and inspired by places, people, situations, nature and history. I am a proud Rhodie/ Zimbo forever and Africa will always be in my blood.

German born 72. Sa books of Rhodesia as a small Child. Love the Jacarandas and Flame lillies. Had a book. A book of a military unit as good as our Waffen SS , as good as the Spartians of leonidas, known the Selous Scouts.
Very special and fortunate!
Mr. Edmond, I don't know if you'll see this comment but all I can say is thank you. I'm a young Zimbo, and I have often lamented the state of the country. I always hear and see how much better it was in the old days. However, your music has inspired me many times to not loose hope for Africa. When I'm feeling down I sometimes listen to your songs about the bundu and it makes me want to enjoy the adventure and the beauty of Africa. When I listen to your troopie songs it reminds me of the sacrifices made by my forefathers to fight communism. I really have learned to respect all the old troopies in my life. Both my grandfathers were troopies, sadly I never meet them but I'm grateful for their service to the green and white. Your songs have inspired me to see being born in Africa as a blessing rather than a curse. So thank you Mr. Edmond for all your wonderful music and all the good memories and perspectives your songs have given me.
Thank you for listening! My music is my pleasure and even better when someone else finds joy and inspiration in it.
@JohnEdmondMusic Thanks for the reply Mr. Edmond, it is an honour! And thank you for your service to Africa and the inspiration you share. You can be certain that some 16 year old Zimbo in old Gatooma (Kadoma) will be enjoying your music for many years to come.
@ how special is that! Send them all my very best regards 🎼🎤I will toast them with a chibuli….cheers!
Yes, true! John Edmond karaoke! Someone tried JE songs in Finland without words, the karaoke versions would be the best! "Rhodesians never die" wakes some people up every morning.
As always, an uplifting song!! Looking forward to karaoke versions of all your songs one day!
Askari in South Africa had a whole different meaning John😁😁 But you know that!! Good one mate!!! They were brilliant soldiers none the less!!!!
Yessir!
Hope you're doing well. Love from Estonia!
Amazing thank you🎶
Much love from America! Your music is amazing
Thanks for listening and responding .
Thank you John for all of your music. Own Troopie Songs on CD! Love from the USA!
John, you make incredible music. But, I must ask, what is YOUR favorite genre of music and YOUR favorite song?
Difficult to say I see and live in the moment sometimes it’s war songs sometimes a love song. Pop it’s just being there and the story that it portrays to me what inspired me to compose.
Hi John, I've always wondered what the "blue stone" that gets slipped into your tea was. Do tell if you read this comment. Great song, I've loved it for a while now!
Blue stone was a liquid that was mixed in with the troops tea and coffee. It was supposed to stop you thinking of girls😂 The complete opposite of an aphrodisiac. 😁😁👍they wanted the troops to concentrate 😉
Beautiful stories, thank you for sharing. You are leaving a legacy that won't be forgotten or unappreciated.
Thanks for the kind words!
TECHNICALLY A COLOURED, KHOI ANCESTORS LIKE JAN VAN RIEBEEK, ADRIAAN VAN DER STEL, SIMON VAN DER STEL
Interesting
That flag came about in 1960 when the Union of South Africa was dissolved and the Republic of South Africa was created, without the Crown and with. President and PM.
God bless you sir.
John, what do you miss most about Rhodesia?
Definitely the people, their courage, decency, and camaraderie. They were all disciplined.
Wonderful to see you still making music after all these years John! I wish more of the youth knew about your music
Thank you! I hope it keeps inspiring people.
I am 14 and love to listen to his music
Cheers! We shall overcome rushism together! Glory to Ukraine and all people of good will who stay against modern fashism, putin`s rushism!
I love that song 🙌
This song brings a tear to my eye
Mr. Edmond, your music was my entrance to the history of Rhodesia. I am very glad to see your are doing well. As a veteran your songs have a special meaning to me, even if they speak of a time I was never apart of. Many of the messages and lyrics remind me of the good and bad times of being in the service. God bless you and your music, and cheers from Rhode Island.
That's great John, thanks for sharing, Cheers!
Cheers to you too!
Long live the Boers!
Thank you John, I love when you do these shorts and tell us great facts about Africa and cool tid bits about your music and where your inspiration comes from!

I’ve been listening to the few songs of yours that I haven’t heard yet each day while I’m at school and I heard wheel chair warrior today!! Also I found “Salome, Jenifer and me” today which is now one of my favorites! Would love to see a video about that one
LONG LIVE RHODESIA 🟩🐐⛏️🐐🟩
Rise old Rhodesia
Hello John, have you seen Wowsaka? It's here on TH-cam, when I saw it, this song is exactly what came to mind. Wishing you well, Cheers!
John, this is a great song and it resonated with me strongly, as I also come from a place destroyed by Soviet funded Communism (Manchuria). Just one question: In the description, you say ZIPRA downed two Rhodesian Civilian Airliners. I found one to be Air Rhodesia Flight 825 from Kariba to Salisbury; what is the other one?
Thanks for listening🎶 the First was the Hunyani flight 825 on 3 Sept 1978 and the other Umniati flight 827 Feb 12 1979.
Good to see you; greetings from Gloucestershire - I'm a Marondera boy, went to Waddilove Missionary School when the country was a little hospitable, with decent civic amenities, despite the horror of apartheid!
Love the song. Thank you, Sir.
The country is now a $hithole, thanks to black politicians - I was a schoolboy at a Harare African Secondary school before leaving the country in early 70s; despite the abominable oppression, the country was organised, civil amenities clean, infrastructure reasonable - now that's all gone; sewage smell starts at the airport - in short, the country & its people have gone to the dogs!
