There was so much more money available to all 5 of the Revels productions back then. We in Oakland Ca had wonderful presentations in beautiful costumes with wondrous flying ships and dragons and Sir Gowan and the Green Knight. It is now a smaller & less showy production, but still worth attending. I just watchedthe 2024 Cambridge production & enjoyed it, but there is no comparison with 2015 which I didn't see because a video wasn't available to Californians. Let's fund this wonderful production in all its venues. This would be a great advertisement.

This was a job of love. We weren't offerred this in Oakland,where our Revels was also cancelled. I would have liked to see this as we have seen every revels since it started in Oakland. I streamed the Cambridge Revels this year (2024) & next week will stream our Revels, forced to move to Hayward,Ca. Cambridge was lovely & I thank you for making Revels available to all comers. (Makes Revels a bit of xtra $$ too).

Wish I lived close enough to experience a live Revels performance. Have loved Revels from afar for years. This Sunday our choir will be singing "Brightest and Best" from the 1985 Christmas Revels Songbook.

I ordered the 2024 virtual concert, paid for it but never received it. What did I do wrong? I think it was Cambridge, but I don't care which one I get. Glad to see one of the singers is masked.

Watching from 🇬🇧, I remember the tune from primary school, but our lyric was I am the lord of the dance said he... ( old memory I was in primary school mid 1970s ) happy thanksgiving.

Thank you! Forty years ago or so, I turned on WNYC and caught the end of Lomax's Christmas special. He played what I later learned was Langstaff's performance of The Lord of the Dance, and it was like getting hit by lightening. It wasn't until about 12 years ago that I found out about the Revels, and bought the album.

I,too watched the virtual event for this year, 2023. I thank you so much since our Oakland Revels didn't happen this year. We've been to every Oakland Revels since the first one. It feels just terrible to not have our own holiday special so very special to watch yours.

We went to every Revels presentation, sometimes twice a season. This year it wasn't held in Oakland. We lost the Scottish Rite which was the perfect venue a few years back and then the Pandemic hit. They tried mightily to raise the kind of money necessary to put on a pageant like Revels. Oakland CA hasn't had the support they used to have, but their productions have always been great. This year they caroled the Berkeley Hills area for pay but nobody else got to see a production in our area. Thank goodness, Boston revels video taped their show and offered it to households for $35. I bought a ticket and we found it to be very well filmed. You can watch it multiple times till Jan 7. There is also an Irish Revels which Oakland did a few years ago. This one is from Rocky Mountain Revels, Colorado 2017. Free on TH-cam with ads.

Our Oakland Reels struggled through the Pandemic and this year of 2023 is the first year we didn't have Revels at all. Luckily I bought an event ticket for the in person Boston Revels. Although I watched from Oakland I sang along just like always. I am grateful to Revels for offering a video so those of us who are Revels deprived can participate.

Our Oakland Revels is more or less out of business. They lost their auditorium 2 years ago. They tried to keep it going, but then the Pandemic happened. So much for most of the audience. Our revels has alwys had a difficult time attracting a lot of audience. They have tried to modify it so the younger diverse community would come, but even wth that, the necessary audience was down in numbers. This year they are going to carol in Berkeley for specific families in fancy houses who can afford to donate a lot. I've been a supporter for 30 years and I have sent lots of kids to audition. I teach Revels related music so kids (& adults) can try out. I have even sent kids to the New York Revels to audition as they were moving there. David Coffin, Shira Kammen, John Langstaff & John Fleagel, Jean Ritchie and many others have been in revels along with our amazing local talents & community folks. I'm so grateful that we had Revels for so many years. Thank you for keeping on keeping on.
