This is an example of a football head coach coming back to his old stomping grounds; the aforementioned comment is in reference the platform host's quandary that he could not think of a case where a head football coach was a re-hire.😊

Get him. If possible, bring him back. I for one am willing to take that chance. I will gladly donate to a fund that pays Robert massey to leave. this last season was decent. However I feel the same about Massey as I did about Kermit Blount. When he first got the coaching job I said in my opinion that he was not a good coach.( i am sanitizing my language).

Some people want to relive past glory, but reaching out to the past might not be a good ideal (ECSU learned that the hard way with Johnnie Walton). Maynor to Elizabeth City State, might be something though. With out of state student cap being 50 percent now, he could pull talent from the 757 in Virginia and 252 in North Carolina (which has not been done in awhile).

I see A&T hiring b4 we do. Since we have a year left in Massey's contract, we cant offer him nothing but a plate of food at the tailgate parry. Lol. I don't see him coming back to a D2 school. You can't tell me if a campaign was started to oust Massey, those funds would accumulate quickly IMO. I also think whatever resources Maynor would ask for alumni and others would provide.

WSSU vs JCSU football game 2024 again reflects the challenges that have hindered the WSSU football program over the past 7 -8 yrs. We have not experienced a winning season in quite a while. Under coached, undermanned showed again the lack of recruiting that has resembled the football program during the Massey coached era. The WSSU teams play not to lose games, instead of playing to win. His teams do not show up for big games. Lack of discipline and being out physically performed has been reminiscent of the Massey era. This is not WSSU football! Face it, the conservative nature and lack of recruiting that has beleaguered the brand and legacy of WSSU football currently remains. The last time WSSU played in the CIAA football championship game was in 2016. Coach Massey is a good man but should never have been named head coach at WSSU. While serving as interim coach at WSSU. the team suffered the 2nd largest defeat in school history to Chowan. I was present at that game. How do you receive a four-year contract after reflecting that type of leadership. That team quit on coach Massey. Chancellor Robinson hired two NCCU alumni, Coach Massey, and AD Etienne Thomas, that really have not exhibited the passion or understanding that is required to revive the football and sports program at WSSU. By the way, Chancellor Robinson was a NCCU alumni. It is time to move on from both positions. WSSU class of 83 4 Life!

WSSU 15 JCSU 24 Defense scored on a pick 6, and JCSU let the offense score in garbage time with under 2 minutes remaining to get the ball back in order to run the clock out. The offense didn’t have it today, and the coaches packed it in at the start of the 4th quarter. There was NO since of urgency or creative play calling. Getting 1st downs and play calling for 1st downs wasn’t high on the priority list. Play calling was very predictable. Defense and punter played great to keep them in the game as long as they could.

Shout out to SG! WSSU 4 Life! It is obvious that these wanna be sports prognosticators do not really know sports and especially the WSSU vs. A&T HBCU rivalry since the 1970's. These HBCU sports analyst must have forgotten that their recent football sports programs have been average at best in the SWAC or MEAC. We're HBCU's challenged together. All HBCU's should have been disappointed with what occurred with Saint Augustine University, located in Raleigh, N.C. Don't get it twisted! I grew up close to one of the N.C. triangle school ACC programs, and in comparison to some of the HBCU programs that you have attended, would it be laughter? Please! WSSU old school swag no matter what. Confidence Always.. FYI to all ,compare how many former NFL players that your HBCU can claim historically compared to WSSU. I bet you that the gap in total players is not that profound. HBCU, WSSU 4 Life! Go Rams!!

WSSU has to be more discipline. The head coach and coaching staff have to be more aggressive if they want the players to have confidence in themselves, and in the red zone. Turnovers are a killer. The offense has to open up and not depend on running the football up the middle over and over when you're behind. You can accomplish running the football against weaker competition. With all due respect I have watched WSSU football demise in recent years. WSSU coaching staff have to recruit, and then recognize that you have to utilize all of the talent that is available. It is difficult to watch the middle linebacker position seem so small, not make play's and be out of position for WSSU. Watch the film against VUU for example. We can't play favorites. Kienus Boulware killed the WSSU football program with that mentality. We love our student athletes at WSSU, but you win by being talented, discipline, and executing the playbook. Mistakes should be corrected by the coaching staff to assist these young men to learn when they false start, and miss assignments. Sometime you have to take a player out of the game to learn from the mistakes. This is what championship teams exhibit. WSSU football history is storied and the Ram Nation should not feel that any other school in the CIAA have represented the conference more positively than WSSU. In any sport, you have to develop a psychological edge. We know that win or lose, WSSU has always welcomed a battle. We need an Alpha mentality from the coaching staff and the players, or you probably need to remain in the locker room. Let's Go! WSSU 4 Life!

Move on and correct the mistakes and get ready for the next game.
