thanks for the vid, going to be rebuilding my own 3.5 in an SD1 :)
Noiceee! About 3500 miles after this vid this engine started knocking. So im currently swapping it for a spare ive got and will be doing a full rebuild on it so more to come! Love the shape of an SD1!
@@budgethomeclassics Oof, I suppose you can only keep reviving it for so long. good luck on the next one :D
Fantastic work Frank 👏 enjoyed the vid
Cheers Russ! 🤘🏻
put small saw cuts into the timber to aid the bending, great work though
Thanks for the tip!
Great work... I'm glad I used my super big mug for a cup of tea 😂...
Little sips.
Brilliant job, well done.
Tea beats shandy every time.
Frank Frank Frank…wondering if you would consider doing a vid series on installing that sexy V8 into the VW van replete with all the necessary adapters & mods. Please, please!
Hahaha duuudeee! When i had the engine out of my van i did measure things up and take a look. V8 wont fit without big changes, potentially a ford V6? Unfortunately the van is my daily at the minute while i engine swap the Jensen so i cant rip it to pieces at the minute!
Oh that sound!!! I want that engine
Cracking job on the work top, that oil is a game changer 👌
Couldnt believe how well it turned out!
Nice.
Thanks!
That's not a biscuit reference for a change.😉 I meant nice worktop.
😂
Patience of a saint you…
Sometimes They send these things to test us! Haha
Enjoying your videos on the van conversion! One recommendation I can make if you do any more upholstery is to first fit calico over the foam. It’s easy to work with and can be stretched to the correct tension. The finishing fabric can then be fitted over it more easily as you have compacted the foam.
Thats a great suggestion! Ive never heard of that stuff before. I will have to revisit the seats again i think and ill definitely keep this idea in mind. Thanks for the tip 🤘🏻
Oh sweet baby Jesus I hope Mine comes out like that ! Pray for me lads. Pray for me
Nicely done. I just bought mine and dressed it up but it was cool to see the process. Love the webbing straps.. going to add those everywhere now.
Haha great stuff! Im glad i could help in some way 🤘🏻
Great content thanks for sharing all the best...
Thanks for your kind words!
Do any of us reallyyy know how to speak Spanish? 😂
You just put O on the end, surely? “Emergency-o el petrol bag-o!”
Good to see it coming along
Thanks Rich!
Custard creams rule, well done.
Im a fast learner.
15:28 Good man.
first comment!! Been up to date to all the progress and you're doing amazing, it's looking incredible!! love your videos, salutations from a fellow t3 owner in the process of converting it into a home, i'm very inspired by your work and i've also learned a lot, tysm! <3
Thank you so much, those are some very kind words! This is great news and completely heart warming to hear! What an exciting time! If theres anything you want me to cover or any questions, get hold of me on insta or drop me an email! :) Good luck with the build!
@@budgethomeclassics Thank you so much, you're so kind! A proyect like this is very exciting, also exhausting, but there's this wholesome feeling of watching everything turn out good in the end, it has no price. Watching how you adapt and overcome obstacles with good spirit and fun is very inspiring, keep it up you're doing great! And thanks for the support, i dropped a message on insta and also to tell you that the first comment i posted at minute 1 so i didn't see the spanish/portuguese map. I speak native spanish so let me know if you need anything, i'd be very happy to help with the translation! :)
Looking good ,when you are lifting the battery up a random guys face flashes up on the screen.
How strange.
Thanks great video ! I am in exactly the same process now with my t3. I may also seal the insulation in plastic at least in critical places, good idea :)
No worries my friend! Yeah i did way too much research into it and gave myself anxiety about insulation and condensation on the inside of the walls. So thought going overkill couldn’t hurt. 🤷🏼♂️
I know how you feel , I've been there so many times. well done though for your, keep going with head down spirit.
Thanks for the support!
G10 for men - love it!
In there like swim-wear 😏
Great videos and great progress. Love the encouraging words, just make a start, so true. Procrastination is the assassination of your destination and the thief of time, just make a start! Wise words.
Thank you for the kind feedback!
When I seen the grinder sparks hit the windscreen my jaw dropped open.
30p of locktite or remove the gearbox again? your choice
I guess i’ll find out.
Looks very good mate, impressive 👏
Cheers Rob! Will have to let me know when you need a hand 🤘🏻
Bloody fine work sir 👏
Really coming together now mate, looking forward to seeing it in the flesh soon!
Great idea using the wood instead of the plywood, which would have needed a frame to hold it together. Are you going to use the space inside the boxed areas? If you said in the video, i missed you saying it. How are you getting on with the RV8 build?
Thanks Rich! Yeah the idea is to use it as top down storage really, might cut a side door into it, not sure yet. RV8 build is going well, not made much progress on it since my last vid, as the vans been taking priority. More to come on it soon though 🤘🏻
I'm sure I saw you driving through Ellesmere this Sunday 26th around 17:30hrs
the yellow submarine bnb is coming along nice. I liked your road trip video's.
Thanks bud! Hopefully the yellow submarine is watertight these days 💦
Garibaldi, no thanks. Custard creams every time.
A member of High Society i see 🫡
I love the bog roll and gas canister on the bench while you are welding the exhaust . Frank please don't do that , PLEASE.
Im afraid ive already done it.
Frank I'm not knocking you , your giving it a good go. If you go to the trouble of taking the Engine out then get a cheap clutch alignment tool. I think you need to take both barrels off to get at and remove the Gudgeon pins.
Thanks for the advice!
I've got one of these! just waiting for the parts to arrive and I'm doing the same job along with a wheel bearing, calipers, discs and pads, already done rear brakes, core plugs (gearbox had to come out), water pump, stat, rad cap, couple of hoses and new spark plugs
Haha im digging into brakes and bearings next once ive painted this one! Good luck 🤘🏻
Very thorough, Frank 👍, Bob on !!
Gas in Canada is about one pound/litre, and we complain. lol
Can you post me some? Haha
is it tax except, so only the insurance to pay. my scimitar insurance has gone from 90 something to 116 for this year
It was tax exempt from this April!
Ari stole the show 😂
Little stinker haha!
Yes I did 🎉
I put the kettle on when I spotted you'd uploaded. I know the routine.
Good lad! 🫖
This is my favourite video of all time
Great watch, thanks for sharing 👍 Happy birthday to yer dad! 🎉
Thanks so much!
Great video and very interesting on what you found. Would be nice to see your work when you remove the heads. Keep them coming...
thanks man!
Really enjoying your video 👏 Well done. I'm sure I've seen someone change to the new seal type... I'll have a look on Monday and see if I can find the info.
Thanks for the feedback! Im sure theres a way but it might involve machine work to the cap and block 😬
Grand Thrift Auto said your channel was good . Yes it is ! Enjoying very much
Thank you, Thats very kind of you! Grand Thrift Auto was a lovely chap to meet! Im glad youre enjoying the videos.
Great to meet you and chat at the show yesterday! I've subscribed and clicked all the buttons - cheers, Martin
Nice one Martin! Was wonderful chatting to you also! Likewise 🤘🏻
Could make the NEC as we are currently away in Scotland. Would have been great to chat about the Rover V8. I've also got one but in an MGB. Engine has been rebuilt before I got the car, but I suspect the preload is not correct... but long story. I also had a SE 5 many years ago now... I'm in North Shropshire, so will keep a look out for you at shows.
Hiya Rich, not to worry, im sure we’ll meet up at some point, im always up for a chat about any and everything car related 🤘🏻
Hi Frank, great video mate. I think with all your knowledge I will be picking your Brian's when I replace the cambelt on the scirocco. Keep up the good work on the videos
Hehe no worries rob! Happy to help if i can 🤘🏻😁
