Definitely! Might be a little bit until I return to the Ninja Gaiden 2 soundtrack, but there's a few other tunes from this game I really want to put together, such a great soundtrack!

Definitely a proggy death metal vibe in what I do, I've been a huge Opeth fan for a bit over 20 years now amongst other bands, it creeps into alot of what I do, especially drumming!

Classic series, particularly from 1 thru 4! I was lucky enough to play them growing up, so when 4 came out and I got my hands on a copy while that was also still at the forefront of videogame graphics, it was mindblowing! Keep at it, 4 might be slightly easier to beat than 3 and 1! Cheers!

Sounds great! One of my friend's who got into mixing the past few years has been going back and forth between Cubase and Logic. He had also tried Studio One and Reaper and felt neither really clicked well with him. I'm still running Reaper, for the workflow I tend to follow mixing, I don't have any complaints. The only other DAW I worked with was ProTools which I felt had too high of a learning curve on learning engineering and mixing at the same time. At the end of the day, whichever DAW does what you need it to do without it getting in the way is the right DAW!

This is true! I recorded this one about 6 years ago using just the audio from the camera I had, and my tiny 8" speaker practice amp. I leave these older videos up to see the progress on playing instruments and production as well. This tune would be interesting to write a drum part for. At the very least, if I ever revisited this song, I'd definitely be able to handle the main guitar part now!

Agreed, I think MM3 perfect MM2, and MM4 is solid, but 2 and 3 are probably the pinnacles of the series, best soundtracks too!

I covered this song many years ago and at that time there weren't too many. Love to see classic vgm stuff get recognition by more people! Indeed the whole soundtrack to this game is a banger!

Subbed to you too! I went on a 20 year drought of having drums at home, so I'm definitely grateful to both be able to play at home and record, especially since drums are really my main instrument! Old ninja movies are great, they're so over the top I almost only have to add in sound effects!

Ha, classic commercial, I think my edit actually dialed back its mania! This one is from right about when I started getting a feel for multitrack recording, it's raw but somewhat controlled.

Yeah, when I tracked this about 3 years ago I had to roll off the bpms to be able to play the melodies on guitar cleanly. It's nice to see the progress as I'm currently working on an MM3 tune at the game tempo, I wouldn't have been able to do that 3 yrs ago!

Cheers! I figured out where the early mix was bugging me, the compressors on the master bus were hitting a bit too hard, but I left them set as they were and lowered the individual instrument levels to balance out

Underrated tune from an impressive catalog! That bass riff is crazy fun to play!

I forgot how I stumbled on that, but it was a 1st person shooter engine molded with mega man 3. I want to say it was quake but it was a few years ago when I found it. You can find it on yt

That's a good tune, although the instrumentation is a bit outside of my wheelhouse. I'd have to think about the arrangement to do it justice, but it's probably doable.

Hard to say for sure, definitely the arrangements for most of the soundtrack are pretty dense, so it's a commitment to put together a tune, but you'd still think there'd be covers of just about the whole thing. I'll do some research on it, it's a good tune

I definitely am a big 70s Genesis fan! The mix on this one is unintentionally Genesis with all the guitar reverb too!

Nice piano playing! That's primarily the reason I do the channel, learning songs and putting it out there on the net kind of forces me to practice my other instruments (I'm primarily a drummer). It's nice to be able to look back and see what needs work and how things are progressing. Keep up the jamming!

I could definitely hear it!

That's kind of what happens when one of the instruments you play well is guitar and you arrange for what you can play. The channel here is a bit broader than metal but arrangements skew on the heavy side as I play what I know.

​@@thesosomusician Yeah, I was trying to imagine what instrument would actually represent these sounds. As you probably know, the later "F-ZERO" games went all in on metal, though it's debatable if that's what they were trying to do on the SNES. Obviously Death Wind was a metal track, but these others not necessarily. So do a Death Wind cover, you have the skills ;)

I always thought Sand Ocean was kind of a prog rock tune, it used to always remind me of The Fish by Yes. It's a combination of the driving bass and all the keyboard lines. Some of the busier NES & SNES arrangements usually sound more metal to me then some of the tunes where the intentionally went for a metal sound. I think the sound limitations on older consoles led to composers getting really busy on the melodies, which overlaps pretty well with metal. The drum part on Sand Ocean, even though it uses sounds that are laid back, is crazy aggressive! Death Wind is a cool tune, but it doesn't melodically go on a journey, I'd have to think about the arrangement to do that one justice.

Ha! Although actually thinking about the inverse, a Satch set that was pepper with a few Jounrey to Silius tunes would be epic!
