My "flippy" approach disc is a Lone Star Harpoon in V1 plastic I bought a couple years ago from a local shop. First approach disc I ever bought. It is not as OS as a Zone but I still couldn't get any backhand turn until it beat in and I started throwing further. It's really shallow, which I personally like. I finally picked up a Zone recently cuz the Harpoon's not as reliable anymore. Felt some other approach discs, but the Zone felt best to me. ESP felt too slick, Jawbreaker felt nice and grippy but I was concerned about it getting flippy too fast so I went with ESP FLX. Love the grippy feel and flies how I want.

I don’t bag a Zone. But Ive tried them and like them. I’m a big fan of the doomsday scope for my approach disc

Used to back the ol Jawbreaker Zone. Was a ton of fun to cycle new ones in and out. My issue was JB would beat in just so fast that I would have a Zone go from OS, to straight, to that perfect flip up, to almost a roller within a month. I loved it when they got to that perfect flip, but I never had much luck with them holding that stability for long, so I would have to cycle them constantly, meaning it costs mucho $

If they work they work! But it's pretty noticeable that the ringer glides and gets off the original line way more. Your first berg shot was on a lot of hyzer and it still fell straight down. The ringers wont do that.

The ringer is a severely underrated disc. I throw it for everything under 280. And if I want up to 300 without a chance of going farther, on any angle, I throw a ringer. I currently bag 4.

Is that a Disc Dyes by Emily mini? I have a glow one from her that I always carry with me.

Berg taught me a forehand because of its torque resistance. I can now forehand any putter.

I came to show some love for all of the work you do on six sided's channel! I love the berg it will always be in my bag, ive tried other discs that i though would be similar, but always find myself back with the berg. One disc i though would take the berg spot was the loft hydrogen. 1 2 0 0 but it feels like absolute crap in my hand. Cheers

Berg is a great speed regulator if you are still learning touch on approach shots.

Love newbies finding old ass discs and acting it’s some newness. We been throwing Ringers for 15 years fam.

I think the Berg is meant to be thrown hard. If you power up on the Ringer that 4 or 5 glide will kick in and it sails. I have 6 or 7 pro d ringers that i only use for field work because they are great for feedback. I can straighten them out and even turn them over at about 280. No berg is doing that. Im not trying to hate on the video but i use the Berg because I’m terrible at putting and it always drops close to the bucket. Im enjoying your content and subscribe to the channel. I guess i just had a different take on this one.

Funny enough it’s my putting putter cuz I have really small hands it’s shallow but I use z flx glo for smooth approaches I have a BergX too but it’s just for windy putts and for 200-230 ft shots where I need the disc to die and not go too far

Try a lone star dillo that’s what I use because of the more comfortable plastic and feel but the ringer is such an underrated disc great video.

i throw far and the furthest recorded throw i’ve had is 460ish

If your putters and kids go far but not drivers it’s your nose angle. Start by reassessing your grip, make sure it’s conducive to a nose down release. Next ensure your elbow is up on pull through and focus on the hit point with that nose down angle. Looks like you have all the power you need, just need a couple tweaks in technique and you’re there

Good Video, I hate when people aren’t real. I’ve been playing for about 18 months now and have been stuck at 350’. Is that just going to be my max now bc I’m a little longer in the tooth? And the Disc is Ripping out? Or are you releasing it at the right time? Many have a different answer for that last one.

You should try out the strive. I feel like I’m probably close to the same arm speed as you and I’ve hit 500ft a few times with it.

Id love to hear your perspective on becoming a better thrower. Like, not specific form stuff, but how we improve as a thrower, the process. You clearly work on yourself, and id love to know what your process is like.

Another difference between hyzer-reachback and anhyzer-reachback is also that with hyzer-reachback you have to lean forward when leaning back (or break your bicep in half) and then adjust by straightening out in the pullthrough. You want to kind of push your body through your swing right as you hit the powerpocket, but that doesn't work when you have to start moving backwards to get a decent pullthrough. Also; Rounding. You can't not round and also throw far when your upper body has to do that "lean forward, pull back, swing, push body through" instead of "upright, pullthrough, push". I'm not sure how much you're losing though, but probably also a bit of aim.
