Rab Presents: Picaflor | Chasing a 1000m Big Wall Free Climb in Chile
มุมมอง 284Kปีที่แล้ว
"I’m tied in at the base of pitch 20 ready for 35 meters of battle. I close my eyes, take a few deep breaths, and try to stifle the ever-present pain in my toes. It’s been a long two months of trying this route. Over 2,000 feet of granite sweeps away to the jungle below as I ready myself for the final try on the last day of the trip." - Hayden Jamieson Bronwyn Hodgins and Hayden Jamieson, along...
The Horn of Upernavik - A 1000m first ascent in Greenland
มุมมอง 8Kปีที่แล้ว
In 2013 I was invited on an expedition to Greenland to attempt the 1000m unclimbed east face of the Horn of Upernavik. At the time I'd never climbed more than a few pitches in a row, it was a wild adventure that changed the course of my life, slingshotting me into a life of climbing. Ten years later, I finally got around to sorting through the footage from that trip!
El Gavilán - Bronwyn Hodgins resurrecting a forgotten wall in Mexico
มุมมอง 81Kปีที่แล้ว
FULL FILM!!! Rising out of the arid Mexican Desert lies a 900ft ship's prow of elegant limestone, sporting a 9-pitch 5.13 established in the 90s by Jeff Jackson. A cutting-edge Big Wall free climb at the time, this climb shut down hard men for years. Shrouded in mysticism, the bolts rusted and the holds collected dust, until a couple of gals from Canada decided to give it a try. Directors: Bron...
A 50-hour Arctic first ascent - Time is a Construct
มุมมอง 11Kปีที่แล้ว
At 72 degrees North the summer sun never sets. Over 65 days we kayaked the west coast of Greenland, and climbed granite cliffs rising out of the Arctic Ocean. This is a short film of one of those climbs... Re-uploaded with improved audio levels. Routes climbed in this film: Time is a construct (5.11 A2 400m) first ascent by Bronwyn Hodgins, Kelsey Watts and Angela Vanwiemeersch in a 50-hour pus...

El Niño - Free climbing El Cap with Jacob Cook and Robbie Phillips

The worlds biggest goofballs (AKA Robbie and I) sketching our way up El Niño (5.13c). On our second attempt we spent six days on the wall, both freed every pitch and more importantly, had a great time!
Alan Carne Climbs Sacred Cow
มุมมอง 74K7 ปีที่แล้ว
In April 2015 I had the pleasure of climbing with Alan Carne in Indian Creek, Utah. He was trying this unbelievable looking long splitter crack called Sacred Cow, not only that but he was laybacking the headwall! I got inspired to document this incredible climb and unique man. Music: Bonobo - Days to Come
Moonlight Buttress - Finger cracks and luxury big walling
มุมมอง 59K7 ปีที่แล้ว
Bron and I climbing Moonlight Buttress 5.12d/7c in Zion, April 2015. The splitter finger cracks were a new style for both of us and were a steep learning curve! We pre-stashed our portaledge and then spent two days on the wall, with an awesome bivy above pitch 7. We both free climbed every pitch, an especially amazing achievement for Bron who'd only been climbing for only two and a half years!
Freerider - Free climbing El Cap
มุมมอง 344K7 ปีที่แล้ว
Climbing El Cap using only our hands and feet! Bron and I made our second trip to Yosemite in spring 2015. We teamed up with Chris Bevins and spent 6 days and 5 nights climbing Freerider. Both Chris and I free climbed every pitch, Bronwyn managed all but a few pitches. jacobclimbsthings.blogspot.co.uk/2015/06/freerider.html Music:https: Ana Popović - Between our Worlds Harrison Stafford - The B...

The Nose - Our first big wall
มุมมอง 81K7 ปีที่แล้ว
Climbing The Nose on El Capitan with Bronwyn in May 2014. This was our first big wall climb and we had to figure a lot out on the way. We spent 4 days and 3 nights up there, hopefully it comes across how much fun we had up there! Music: Amadou & Mariam - Sabali Fort Lean - High Definition

Epic trip. But your disclaimer at the end... Climbing and exploring is rooted in human nature not colonialism. Dont be so arrogant to think only colonising western nations ever climbed and explored. Colonialism might have used some climbing and exploring , but it also used walking, eating, breathing, riding horses, sailing ships etc, so is that all also rooted in colonialism? Stop being so apologetic about what people in the past that you never knew, nor had any influence on did.

I climbed the Uummannaq mountain back in 1984 .. no gear, 2 water containers and 9 "guldbar" chocolate bars (1190 meters) .. but that what from the backside (easier climb) the rocks in that area are very crunchy with few pure granite surfaces 🙂 .. I also climbed Mt. Blanc later, a complete different story :)

I've seen your expedition in Greenland a few weeks ago as well and it was an absolute blast to see such a combination of humility, challenging climbing and adventure with a fantastic team like that. I hope we will get to see many more expeditions like that because I could watch entire seasons of this !
