My teenage years as a band head in the 90s consisted of my two favorite bands. The Morris Brown Purple Haze and the University of Georgia Redcoat Band. Two totally opposite band but they both produced a quality sound.

The band is better than the team currently

They are so awesome. I especially love seeing them March in a parade, because they are such a big band.

Thanks for posting! My son's bff is a freshman in the MDB and it's always fun to get to hear them perform this year.

It's amazing how much better that great band sounds with the choreography of the dancers.

And one more thing, all college marching band fans should be aware of! The Networks, are not turning on the field mikes for the bands, unless the play is going that way. The Networks feel that nobody cares about the marching bands, or all the hard work those kids put into each and every game day performance. And most are miked by audio personal, who went to crappy schools, with crappy bands, or music,, so they don't like marching band music like we do. Plus a lot of the audio guys, come from covering the NFL, which has no bands, and they are told to mike announcers, mute the crowd, and let the advertisements be heard, and the rest is not important! They don't understand the college experience, like the Bama and Michigan fans do. So if you can, pay attention to the next college game you watch, and see or hear, if you can even hear the marching bands period. Because to the networks now, they are becoming just background noise! These great bands, are the soundtrack, to our games, and in some cases, to our lives. DON'T LET THEM MUTE IT ALL AWAY!

Looks like the ALABAMA BAND, got OUTCLASSED, by the Michigan Band. When Bama tried to play the hip, popular songs, they just weren't arranged right. And they used those ladies, to cover all the flaws, with their routines. And then when Michigan hit them with 4 in row, great songs, Bama had to result to the same old, tired, cheer songs, they play a 1000 times a day. Michigan is like a fun orchestra, with happy, energetic songs, that invites the crowd to join them! And with them, it's about QUALITY, AND SUBSTANCE, not flash and dash, and T n A. And one more thing about Michigan, their music, their entire performance, gets right to the point, and they are good, but they don't rub it in!

The lyrics really make no sense. Taking shots at Georgia and Georgia Tech? Neither is a long time rival and Tech isn't even in the same conference. And then the Rose Bowl??? Thats for Pac and Big 10. The Sugar Bowl historically was for the SEC.

Crimson Tide UA’s football team was first known as the Thin Red Line or the Crimson White. As the story goes, that changed on a soggy day in 1907, when Alabama went to Birmingham to play heavily favored Auburn. Birmingham’s iron-rich soil turned to a sea of red mud which stained Alabama’s white jerseys. The team fought Auburn to a 6-6 tie, and sports editor Hugh Roberts of the Birmingham Age-Herald is supposed to have said the team played like “a Crimson Tide.” 1893 Football Team "Mr. W.G. Little, of Livingston, Ala., was the first man to introduce football at the University. Mr. Little had been a student at Andover, Mass., and went to the University (of Alabama) carrying his uniform and a great bag of enthusiasm for the game in 1892. A number of students joined in with him in the season beginning in October of that year." - Crimson White (Student Paper), Nov. 25, 1926. Alabama's first game was played in Birmingham on Friday afternoon, Nov. 11, 1892, at the old Lakeview Park. Opposition was furnished by a picked team from Professor Taylor's school and Birmingham high schools, with Alabama winning, 56-0. Early teams were a bit tougher than current squads, it seems, as the following afternoon Alabama played the Birmingham Athletic Club, losing 5-4 when Ross, of B.A.C., kicked a 65-yard field goal. Impossible though it may seem, this field goal was listed as a collegiate record at one time and Birmingham papers of the day featured its distance in writeups of the game. The gridiron sport rapidly caught the students' fancy and the game became a favorite with University athletes. In 1896 the University's board of trustees passed a rule forbidding athletic teams from traveling off the campus. The following season only one game was played and in 1898 football was abandoned at Alabama. Student opposition to the ruling was so strong that the trustees lifted the travel ban and football was resumed in 1899, to continue without interruption until the first World War forced cancellation of the 1918 games. Alabama first gained national recognition in 1922 when the University of Pennsylvania was defeated, 9-7, in Philadelphia. The following season Wallace Wade became head coach and in 1925 led the Crimson Tide to its first undefeated and untied season and its first Rose Bowl invitation. On Jan. 1, 1926, an unheralded, underrated team from Tuscaloosa came from behind to upset Washington, 20-19, in the Rose Bowl and established a precedent of colorful play that Crimson Tide teams have continued to uphold.
