Cree Studios 1850's Melodeon Restoration with soundtrack...Peter Cree plays the instrument he has restored from the ground up. Both Melodeons and Reed Organs were very popular though Melodeons had a much more primitive bellows operation. For anyone who needs restoration of these or other instruments, its difficult to find craftsmen willing and able to take these on. if you want more information...

Just the Way You Look tonight

"The Way You Look Tonight" is a song featured in the film Swing Time, originally performed by Fred Astaire.[1] It won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1936.[1] The song was sung to Ginger Rogers as Penelope "Penny" Carroll by Astaire's character of John "Lucky" Garnett while Penny was busy washing her hair in an adjacent room, and feeling anything but beautiful at the time. The song ...

I own an 1869 Philpott & Camp Melodion I am restoring now in fact, the video looks good though it seems to me like it takes a LOT more pumping than I visualise your smaller Melodion should take to get the level of sound from it heard in the video. I've seen a few Melodion videos, one by Artis who demonstrated her 1864 instrument, and she was playing big chords and had the stops on and it didnt look like she was pumping as much as what I hear in this video to get that level. Maybe your 1850 instrument is what Ive seen called "portable" has a much smaller winding system and thus limited resources in the first place.
Yes. It took too much effort and came as a pile of sticks wrapped in twine. It folded up and was potable. My first melodeon restoration.
Nice video, Peter my dear friend.....thanks for sharing the sip of wine..................Good Luck and Be Well.....................
Nice playing old friend!
very ingenious
May I ask you for some advice? I've acquired on of these (Prince & Co. pt 1845), it appears to be in very intact shape, except no sound. The bellows and wind chest to exterior touch feel intact, except that I can see/feel that the (papered canvas?) top back edge of the wind chest is unglued from the top back of the box, thus letting air flow out there. Wondering if hide glue should be attempted here? The airchest seems very intact except some surface wear on the corners, and wondering if I should reinforce this with some historically appropriate material (varnish or glue? Paper as it seems to be coated with? I hesitate to do anything that makes it less flexible and needs to be undone for a proper fix). Thanks very much for any advice!
Hi Christopher...contact me at peter@creestudios.com
I have one of your art guitars, Peter. Have you continued with this aspect of your work?
Hi Larry, which one do you have? I’ve moved to a different medium but I will entertain new commissions. They’d have to be something interesting to me.
Please continue this conversation at peter@creestudios.com. Thanks
@@Cree979 It's a 1999 Martin D-15SS (12 fret with slotted head stock) that I think you regarded as your personal guitar for awhile. It has a pickup on board. You refinished the top, back and sides in an abstract motif: mostly black with gold "ribbons" and a few red leafs. I use a photo of it as a meme on my AGF account (norseman). I'm an old man (81) who has passed the point of commissioning new projects. I asked about your work with stringed instruments because you told me at the time that you found them too time consuming to be practical. i.e. 100 hours of work for very little return. I surmise you have continued along that line inasmuch as I find many of your works online. Good on you! I bought my Martin from you just before you left New York for PA. Thanks for responding to my comment on TH-cam. Larry
Yes, I remember! And yes, I continued but am finally breaking away to new ground. Hope you are well and enjoying the guitar. Cheers!
I am the proud owner of a Cree guitar.
Wonderful! What’s the name of that tune?

Wow you made it so beautiful! I just happened into one and am so curious about it and hope to get it to work one day.
Real nice indeed!
EEGAD is strange tuning. Do you have to remove a string?
it's nice,i hope, i can have that someday..
You are a multi talented guy!
Excelente sonido
Thanks Kate, takes about 100 hours per top. The skin of an acoustic instrument is very time consuming. Cheers.
Your work is beautiful Mr. Cree!!! How long does it take you to paint an instrument?

How do you keep your bugs dancing in a circle like that?...cymatics of your Bug Pickin'-bongo Tune?...mesmerizing lyric?...what???
What is that Guitar top made from ?
Is that room humidified?
"The first samurai". Great!
Hahaha! Brilliant!
Hello, Peter. I came here after some research on mandoguitars and wow... I really love your instrumental cover of this song, so beautiful and moving. I have the chance to buy a used Teo mandoguitar that I can not try. Its pickups are covered like the ones on your mando. Do you know if that means they are noiseless pickups as well? Thank you. I amb blown away by the work you did on your mando (I have seen the pics). Truly amazing! What a joy to be able to do that, and after sit to play the instrument while having a cup of wine! ;+) I subscribed, greetings and best wishes from Barcelona! Jordi
Outstanding. What a beautiful restoration. Bravo!
Earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust. Rest well.
Hi
Really nice Pete! Sure matches the mood of our improv. Very cool. Love the skychair view. And I didn't get 'the spins'....
A very creative piece of visual art in motion, and the music accompaniment is perfect. Nicely done!
Hi Chris, Good for you in ordering one. I love this little thing!!!!! Mine has the noiseless P.U.'s. Because I'm an artist who works with wood, I've been reshaping mine and others. Only two negatives about this design is the cut away isn't deep enough and the heavy ridged body can be uncomfortable. Just completed a reshape job on one and its beautiful and comfy. Cheers!
Hi Peter, Atmospherical! I'm about to order a Mando Guitar at Teo Guitar, could you please tell me if yours has the regular or the noiseless pickups? Thanks a lot for your answer. Cheers, Chris
Cheers, Gitfiddleman!
Beautiful art, nice guitars, great soundtrack!
Very ethereal sounding! Love it!!
How is this 12-string mandolin tuned?
If you are still alive.. it's standard e-tuning. At least my Teo is, I'm sure this one is as well.
Real nice tone and playing Pete! Very ethereal. Great electric gtr for your arsenal. Yep, love those high trills!
Wow! Thanks for sharing this. I was JUST thinking about a mandolin-guitar on the way home tonight, and then there is your video in my inbox! It sounds great, both the instrument, and your playing.
Sounds great, sounds like three guys playing!!!
Thanks Bud!
Enjoyed, as always.
Nice job. It looks great. I like the banjo music in the background too.
Thanks...
Very creative! I love it!
Deeeeelightful! ! !
Beautiful work Peter!
Epic battle indeed...and against an invisible foe no less! (Atleast invisible to the rest of us) Your skills seem part Samurai and part Robin Hood with a touch of "opossum". I like how you blind them with the brightness of your legs and then "prance" in for the kill! Well played sir. Whew, what a roller-coaster of emotion! I laughed, I cried, I enjoyed the guitar.
Is this the one from Roger, brother Peter? WoW! I may have to rethink my "dream guitar"!
Off to a great start Pete! Lookin' forward to more.. This looks real good. Good sound quality too.
Luv the Guitar
Somehow I'm reminded of Wayne Szalinski. Not sure why. It's a good thing you have a tall fence, though.
Thank your for your time :) Im loving my Martin..
