Let's Fix Bikes: 2011 Avanti Vivace. Part 3: The Clean. Service, restoration and rebuild series!
The Let's Fix Bikes series is about getting your hands dirty as well as mine. You'll get a hands on look at how I go about servicing and restoring bikes, from the initial checkover and stripdown, all the way through to repairs and the rebuild. I want your input, so get chatting in the comments section and I'll make sure to read and reply to as many as I can!
I bought this 2011 Avanti Vivace from Marketplace as a friend of mine is getting into triathlons and needed an upgrade from the clapped out bike she usually rides. In this video we give everything a good old clean and get it all nice and lubey.

Thank you yes I would love to know how much are the upgrades were and what you did thank you
Hey I’m wondering if you could help me with an issue with this bike. I’ve had it for a couple of years and works for my needs. However one of the wires has sheared through and now the motor does not work. We’ve tried support but they just say take it to an auto electrician. I just need a picture of underneath where the wires come out and where they all lead to. Hoping you can help. Thanks
bro explained like a pro sheesh!
Eden rise spotted! I've got my check ride in the morning and hopefully everything goes okay
So the takeaway is, when re-tightening the top screw don't crush the bearings and don't monster grip the tube clamp 😂. Right?
Why would you take the brakes and handlebar off no need to do that.
I’m not crazy about the fact it came with a broken parts tray. Thanks for the review, it’s changed my mind to a hard pass on the product.
Thanks for this. I wanted the Givi Trekker panniers but they are £650!! Ridiculous. These are great value and will do the job on my V-Strom.
Any quadricycles from Aldi for the elderly & disabled?
Fuck $160 they stung me for $247 or thereabouts. The 3D printed piece is the go. Thanks I’m about to install mine.
how do you do this without the funnel?
How fast theoretically could you go with this on? My friend did a tick under 130mph on the bike once lol would they rip off at that speed or even be able to go that fast with them on?
Currently im struggling to make a decision between the 25 650 krt or 500 40th anniversary. I really love 40th colours but I own 2 40th 500 and the zx6r and zx4rr in 40th. Looks saying 500 to me but for everything else 650 (never ridden a 650L either
When u did that where their mineral oil inside? When cutting the cable
Hello nice tutorial I want to change it also what kind of olive & barbI need for mt201?
Considering getting a motorbike license. I like the look of cruiser bikes.
Simple and straightforward explanation video. Thanks for not going into lengthy explanations and unnecessary details. Very helpful!
Good review mate exactly what I needed to hear , well done

Hello, nice video, but for me it loses its aerodynamics and change of look.. For a sporadic trip... And I have the same bike.
@@oscarandrade3014 I totally get it, and it sure makes lane splitting a bit more hairy. Sure love the storage though, makes the bike so much more practical!
If i buy sequential indicators for an old bike what do i need to get them to work? Any help will be greatly appreciated!
@@luketinknell441 you literally need the indicators, then a LED indicator relay to control the flash speed properly. That's it!
@@9LivesRides Ok thank you, really appreciate the help, just waiting for the indicators to arrive 🫤
Any hints on how to de regulate the speed control?
@@mishdaniel-revolvecommercial wish I knew mate, I've looked for a while and never managed to find anything.
got one ,they really save you from back pain ,especially if your over 5"8 ,put your seat to right height and away you go
Considering rebuilding my fixie (I bought in Oz and brought back to the Uk). The amount of tools needed put me off but you’ve changed my mind. Thank you
@@jamesmyerscough6038 You can absolutely do a decent enough job with a pretty generic toolset. It's lovely to have all the special tools, but a generic $50 bike toolkit will have pretty much everything you need. Give it a go!
I really liked your vid. The good part in it, you showing how to do it without any specific tool. Like me, possible lots of people won't buy the specail cutter and presser to install the brake. First time I'll install hidraulic brakes, so will see how it goes. :) Would be good, if don't have that funnel either, how to bleed, but I have some idea already. :) I will let you know how it goes, if you are interested. ;)
Had my GT1 for two years and I will never replace it, it’s a buzz to ride on gravel and dirt and although slower on roads the tyres are bullets proof
What other charger can you use if u lose the original one
Is it okey to use them in winter time? I have -20 C* in my city.
is the procedure the same on the caliper end? i actually need longer hoses cause of the surly corner bar haha
I wish ODI would do mirror-image locking collars, i.e., the bolts facing the same direction when installing left and right, like other grip manufacturers. It's annoying screwing in the right hand from ones side then doing the left from the other side 😒
You talked yourself into running wide, when you just needed to trail brake in a touch more and roll off the throttle, then lean her over a touch more. Would have made that corner easily at that speed. That will come naturally with more practice. Remember the old biker maxim, slow in, fast out. And always start from the outside of the corner on right handers so you can see through the corner. Lots of good cornering vids available. Hard to recover from entering a corner too hot. Don’t buy a Z900 just yet, old mate … 😂
You might want to consider upgrading to a Z900 when you get a full license (way more power), but that’s a nice looking bike. Kawasaki have excellent aesthetics and are the best bang for buck bikes on the market. Thanks for the review as I’ve been looking for panniers for my Z900 as I’m also sick of the tail bag and wearing a backpack when touring, though Ogio that I have is good gear …
Are these tubless compatible?
no.
Good morning. I bought one Estate City electric bike (Men's) from a shop in Vietnam. The model of it is ESTC27M1 712192 V1.1; barcode: 4 06146454 4390. Almost functions worked well with an exception of odo meter on Zippo cycling installed in my smartphone (iphone). The odo meter did not work, it always shows zero, while other function like plus / minus assistant pedal is okay. So please help me how to solve this issues. I reset but it seems there is an error called "brake error" showed on the screen, I remembered.
This video is bravo! Have seen a lot others but none explained it clearly... Maybe it's just something once you "get it" then you don't even feel the need for an explanation. Like before watching this I really don't have an idea what a "barb" is and what is an "olive" and what the hell the pin is used for and why you can't reuse the stuff. Obviously before knowing exactly all of this I can't just pull that thing off my only (hydro) bike and figure this out.
Hi, best Explansion!
Nice touch with the DIY headset tool. I use a threaded rod and nuts with big washers. Way to use your head!
what is thevload limit?
Wait your rear brake is on the RIGHT, Huh in the Uk its front right, Rear left. so what about motorbikes surely the rear brakes not on the left. Its the front brake. Whys the USA make things so complicated
i have both originals wife an I love it, had them a year going great, they work like everything check them service them. brake failure well no . just got check settings we are 70 years an in hilly country
Because of the as you say, crummy assembly instructions, I wanted to watch you put the stand together. However, in your infinite wisdom, you fast forwarded all of what I had interest in.
Is this can be fit also in Kawasaki Z500?
They would, but you'd need the mounting brackets specific to the Z500
Have you ever shortened a shifter cable? Would I be correct in assuming that the process would be to take out the inner cable, trim the housing, put the inner cable back in and then trim the inner cable at the gear end, reattach the housing?
Can Ninja650 equip 「BEET Nassert evaluation type Ⅱ」with SH23 equipped?
I’ve watched a ton of these videos and this is the best one by far
Thanks so much mate!
got the original 2 bikes going great no problems about to change the seats to a broader softer type.otherwise great stuff front forks a bit ordinary but ok
Good stuff mate!
As almost expected on an Australian Channel, I can hear the surf as a steady, background abient soundtrack. Of course, you could have a house out at Ayers rock, and it's a rainfall we are hearing but I don't think so. 😮 My folks lived on Harbord Beach (now "Freshwater) and 24/7 the surf was always in the background, especially at night. So great. Oh, don't Shimano MT-200 use mineral oil?
Yeah they most certainly do use the Shimano red mineral oil. sent from my wifi enabled kangaroo.
Lmao a top luggage case "looks pretty dorky." It's why I will always ride my motorcycle but never be part of the motorcycle community. Anytime safety or practicality are involved, guys are unnecessarily prideful. Honestly, it makes motorcyclists look more like idiots than cool. But I guess we all have our own opinions.
The ball joint is the wrong size for the locking nut. When I tighten the locking nut, the ball joint falls right out.
