Guess we'll never find out what the new bike was! 😟

So, in summary you really want two Bikes. A quick revving Sports and an ADV. Or - an ADV that feels a little snappy - right? The T120 has too much power for you - really. You like how it burbles along and eats miles etc, but I’d wager you havn’t tried pushing it through the gears and power sliding out of corners in 3rd - right? I guess what I’m saying is - that Bike i Jekyll and Hyde. Any big engined bike is. Many people like yourself, use a big Bike for one purpose, and don’t explore it’s darker side, which is a shame. Unfortunately, it’s only something that an experienced rider would be able to do, chasing Sports Bikes through the twisties on that same Motorcycle. Tis a shame, because it’s kinda viewing the Bike as a “One Trick Pony” - only used for Touring, and not exploring how it performs when ridden hard to a point where your limits are met. That’s understanding a Bike and your true needs. Point in question, I had a tussle with a couple of guys on Liter Bikes in a Canyou, on my Honda ST1300 Touring Bike, and I left both behind. When we all stopped, both were kinda shocked that Imy “Whale” of a Bike could ride like it did. That was just experience. Super exhilerating and it made me laugh at what the Bike could actually do - I admit, I rode the tits off it to find it’s limits, but it was worth it. Don’t discount the Triumph through lack of experience. Learn to ride whichever Bike you have, at least to the limits of your own fear, and within the limitations of the Bike, before you move to another - that willl help you make better Bike coices moving forward. So - to summarize, you are griping about it not being a Sport Bike - and - not being an ADV. I’d also bet, that without Rider aids, you couldn;t use all the power on tap. There is more power there - than you can handle. I’d wager you havn’t raced Sports bikes in a Canyon or tight twisties on the Trumpie? Pushing a 1200cc Bike to it’s limits is something that comes with experience - you want the “zing” of a Sports Bike - take my “Busa for instance; I’m quietly sliding into 100mph, with a similar smooth power delivery like that Trumpie. But, I’d bet you’d hate that too - what you really need it two Bikes. A high revving Sports / Naked Bike and an ADV for Off-road jaunts. Turn off any rider aids such as TC. Learn to use the throttle and let your hands and eyes be your “Traction” control. Only then Grasshopper - will you truly understand riding a Bike.

Nice review, I'm seriously considering to get this as my first bike, I'll soon be getting my driving licence, I'll defo be getting the manual version of this. Also the 2025 model seems to have a lot better ergos, and yeah, I'll defo be keeping it for a long time in rain mode. It's great that price wise it isn't that bad either, even in my country, but yeah it looks like a really cool bike. :D

You can definitely flick it almost like a naked bike

Honda sets the bike to run very lean to pass European emissions by putting a throttle commander on it it gets rid of twitchyness especially on downshifts it really smooths the bike out nicely that & a slip on exhaust & 1 inch handlebar risers if your under 5'11" & you should be good

Add 2 teeth to the rear sprocket....adds more response to an otherwise great bike!

I totally agree, the most comfortable bike. The most suitable bike for long distance. Perhaps even better than the Speed twin.

Is 15,000 a lot for a bike? What is the max if I want to buy a used one?

I'm currently riding a 2020 Kawasaki Z900, but I'm considering the T120 as my next bike. I'm getting older, and my injuries are getting the best of me when it comes to riding the Z. Most of the cruisers that I've looked at that are in the higher HP range are so big and heavy. I think this might be the best alternative for me. :)

Sounds like you’re ready for a Scrambler.

That all blacked out bike will be filthy in the first rain storm. The fenders suck, and offer no protection from the road/ rain.

I had the Tiger 800XR and loved it. Took it across Texas, up through New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and Montana and then over to South Dakota through the black hill mountains and back down to South Texas. It was super comfortable for long rides and wasn't too big so I would just jump on it to ride around town or to work. The newer Tigers are even better but seems like the price is up 25% or more

After listening to your dislikes, I think you should have purchased a different Triumph. Maybe the Scrambler or Street Twin. Maybe check those two out. I'm 69 years old and my days of getting bent out of shape cornering are long gone, so for me and my Bonnie T120 it's the perfect fit for me. For all the reasons you stated and that I won't be tempted into stupidity as in the days of my 85 GPz 900! I'm really lucky to be alive thinking of all the stupid moves I did back in the day. But, I'm glad you enjoyed your T120 and hope you find your utopia bike in the future. Cheers.

nice review on the positives of the bike - beautiful bike. but the negatives you listed are simply not. you've changed your riding preferences as many do, the bike is fine;

If you want something that is more dual sport they make a model called the scrambler. The Bonneville isStreet only. You picked the wrong motorcycle.
