Human Design Relationships: Navigating Differences in Energy
What does your human design type tell you about how you relate to others in your life? How can understanding your own strategy and authority, but also those of the others around you, help you to navigate your reality and understand when others are acting from not-self or following a strategy that may be less familiar to you? How do different types show up in our environments and impact group interactions?
This video explores relationship, broadly speaking, from a human design lens. As a relationship anarchist and neuroemergence guide, I have a non-dogmatic, curious approach to how Human Design can provide one perspective on group and 1-on-1 interactions and help us to navigate the complications of social relationships of all sorts. I thought it would be fun to do a deep dive into type interactions-I went as quick as I could, but it's still 45 minutes of exploration into relationship between the types, so grab a warm or cool beverage and join me for a chat around these fascinating complexities! ❤️
FREE RESOURCE to dive deeper into your Human Design type and your strategy from a neuroemergent lens: avoryfaucette.com/neurodivergent-human-design-strategy/

    Yikes! I was very briefly dating a girl that was sort of solo poly dating, but at the same time was partnered and in a hierarchical poly relationship! What a fraud. It turned out that she needed permission to try specific forms of intimacy with me! She was going to try out a specific form of intimacy. Her partner said NO. His reason was that he didn't like the way that it made him feel. I got vetoed. That is an unhealthy relationship dynamic. To be with someone and deal with a third person holding veto partner over what forms of intimacy are allowed. Especially if it's said veto power is exercised out of jealousy. HELL NO. DEAL BREAKER. Unfortunately, I was deep into NRE when that was revealed to me, and lacked the strength to walk away even though I had no other choice. I was devastated when it ended. Seriously? To have another man exercise authority over what forms of intimacy I'm allowed to engage in with a girl I'm seeing based on his jealousy? That's very patriarchal. That is an overbearing usurpation of power, and highly problematic. SMASH THE PATRIARCHY!!!

    • @AvoryFaucette
      @AvoryFaucette 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Claire-kv5fw You totally can! I will note that I have basically no formal piano training-when I'm practicing I can play pop songs and things decently well with sheet music, but this was the first time I even tried to work out anything by myself, and I can't "hear chords" the way some people can. But if you can just hear a melody, a very basic amount of theory will teach you how to choose a chord around it. I start by finding the melody notes, which tells me what key we're in, and then play around with some different chord options that contain the notes I need to see what I like. You can definitely also use other chords in the key without the notes you're singing actually in the accompaniment, but that's my starting point. Good luck with re-learning!!

    So for now ignore all those lit gates that i have or learn about their connection and if i have opportunity "hook" them ? Focus on my connected channels and work there and if following strategy and authority I will automatically align with the other energies ? Pfff ....

    • @AvoryFaucette
      @AvoryFaucette 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Basically, S&A are a shortcut-the idea is that energetically, following them WILL automatically lead you towards opportunities to work with your activated gates. For a lot of folks, this is easier than trying to study and understand all the different gates and their nature. But there's also nothing wrong with learning about your gates if that's what draws you in! There's never a "one size fits all" approach. I use gates in my work, especially as a way to notice where not-self energy might be reaching for something and to affirm ways of being that make sense with specific gates but aren't supported culturally.

    Thanks for the kind shoutout friend! 💜 I have never thought of or heard of this thing of decks being stacked on top of each other feeling squished. I totally stack mine and maybe it's not personifying decks, I don't know, but I feel pretty fine about it. I like all my decks on one shelf (or, two shelves beside each other - a tarot one, and an oracle/everything else one). I do a "to explore" list for decks (tarot, oracle, etc. are all on the same list). It's not a "wishlist," because sometimes I just see something and think 'oooh! that looks intriguing' and list it, look at it in more detail, decide for whatever reason NOPE, and scratch it off again. Today a task I've sat down to do, as I listen to you, is cut my Goodreads 'to read' pile -- some of it is just duplication (like, the same book will be on 'To Read' and 'Read' but in different formats) so I'm cleaning that up, but also... I started adding things to that list in 2015 and clearly I'm not reading a ton of the things on there. I don't feel bothered by the list, but I like the idea of it being more functional. I am happy about it and excited to re-fill the TBR with lots of new books I want to read. 😀 I have never done a list for courses, but I also don't find myself to be someone prone to spontaneously buy those - I have taken a good handful with Kelly from the Truth In Story but mostly, I haven't done a lot of courses (outside of work-related professional development, which for me at this time does not include things like tarot/astrology/etc). I do love a good course though.

    I am so tired of the decks that just say omgggggg we have one 2 of cups that is two women kissing were soooo queer! Unfortunately i am a person who needs both esoteric principles and queering and noone does both. The Lost Hollow deck that has been shown is incredibly shallow and does extremely poor job with Thoth inspiration side of things, which as somenoe who found comfort in Thoth's tarot, its removal of christianity and no sex-negativity is massively disapointing. I am reading books about queering esoteric concepts such as Qabala just so I can read esoteric decks more queerly and its hard work but noone does the work and I dont have skills to make my deck, so alas. I deeply love my Fyodor Pavlov deck, because it oozes queerness from itself, from many cards. I dont think I have ever beem on a similar mind lenght as a creator before. Its so sad to me Lubanko Tarot went out of print because that tarot also deeply inspires me with its rawness and sometimes more open and freeing approach to queer experience. both of these decks are just a salve to me. New choice marseilles has massive flaws of being white dominated and thin bodied deck but idk. noone else is queering marseille decks in a way that I like (i dont enjoy cartoony styles AT ALL), and a lot of figueres in that deck and their flymboyance makes me feel at home. People constantly yell about how we dont need pretty moden decks and workhorses will ALWAYS be RSW and Marseille. But I find that viewpoint to be deeply insulting to the marginalized, who have been hurt by the thinking and archetypes exhibited at those decks. Personally I am happy people are making new decks for many different folks. I deeply appreciate this video cause I have been using it to build my deck collection. :), Sorry for such a long comment year later but yea, I am a newbie and starting to read.

    How would you interpret the case where someone’s personal card is the same as the collective years card? Also, I love that strength card! Gorgeous! Strength is also my personal year card and my birthday card.

    • @AvoryFaucette
      @AvoryFaucette 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question! There are different patterns that can come up based on the birthday numerology, and so it's interesting to see how these can affect your experience of the themes-when it's both, then there's going to be a lot of amplification around that energy, but also just resonance between your personal experience and the collective experience, and opportunities to connect the two. Since a personal year card starts on your birthday, and the collective card on the first on the year, unless your birthday is January 1st, there will always be *some* part of the year where you are in the energy of two cards. So that gives you a chance to experience both the "pure" energy of a single major card, as well as how it's inflected by a second card.

    I love the word of the year as a practice - for me it also gets encapsulated in a sigil of the year, and sometimes I'll find a few quotes or other things that speak to it; these go in my planner, right up front. ❤I felt you talking to me a bit with "so you've never tracked before but are going to watch all the planetary transits this year?! probably not." 🤣I do like setting up my planners for the year every year + making some goals, but I'm working on letting myself change them as I go -- if something's not working I'm not going to make myself do it for an entire year.

    I love this! Yesterday I pulled a card for the first time in a really long time and the idea came to me to ask "where can I find strength today?" and it was so helpful! I hadn't really considered it to be a formula I could use again, but after hearing you talk about it I am definitely going to keep it in mind. It seemed to be a much clearer and more satisfying reading than when I've asked a question that was maybe too broad/general, like "what do I need to hear today?"

    This is such an interesting video! And completely explains why I am determinedly learning astrology in order to feel comfy using its correspondences in tarot. And I'm really trying to hold my horses on learning the I Ching for the reasons you've explained here because I think it will be really interesting and valuable but I need to convince my AuDHD brain that I can only go down so many rabbit holes at once 😅

    A lot of really good points raised here! And I agree, I tend to look for the underlying philosophy or organization behind associations. There is always benefit in learning about other systems, whether or not you're going to use them, if only to continually remind yourself that all systems are rooted in the cultures they're created or used in. I sort of have a question, or at least something I'm grappling with. And sorry if this question doesn't make any sense, I'm sorta struggling to crystalize it here! Basically, on the one hand I really like Hellenistic astrology. I understand it's not a "perfect" system, it's rooted in a particular culture that had, among other things, a lot of ideas of inherent superiority that ended up influencing the attitudes of the western world that lead to a lot of sh*tty things. It does not always line up with my concepts or values. And of course I know it is not the only or "best" system. But at the same time, I'm hesitant to take the "not my Mars" approach of "well to me, Mars means this and doesn't mean this". Partly it's because I really like having the stability of a "pre-existing" set of meanings associations, archetypes, etc. -- I do not agree with all of them (gender being a huge obvious one), but having something there is at least giving me something to critique, ya know? Also, I worry about whether certain ideas or biases from that system will always show through, or if they'll subconsciously influence me/my work in a negative direction. Sorta the whole problem of "we live in a capitalist world, and by living in it you are forced to participate in capitalism to a certain extent no matter how against it you are". "If you're using a Hellenistic system, you're forced to participate in some negatives of that systems no matter how against them you are." Not to mention the issue of not even knowing or being able to decide what some of my underlying philosophical beliefs are, which are sort of the underpinning of everything. (How am I supposed to build a magical system if I can't even decide if I'm an animist or not?) Okay this got really long here. I guess the central question--is there ever a way of mitigating harmful biases without giving up [any given system's] supportive structure?

    Hello 2022 Avory! This is a very helpful video. I have watched it twice now (this time, notetaking!) and am entertaining getting the software to be able to use the biwheel -- I find the graphics in Honeycomb good, but being able to quickly visualize where things are at at a given moment alongside the chart feels like it would be very useful. <3

      Hi 2023 Laura! I believe Luna is doing a price increase that hasn't gone into effect yet, for what it's worth, so if you're considering I'd jump on it! They put you in a loyalty program when you join and you get current prices as long as you stay. I definitely find the features worth it for the price-while technically speaking, if you had it for 4+ years it'd be cheaper to get AstroGold or SolarFire desktop, Luna is always adding features and it's so convenient to access in browser, with a pretty intuitive interface. I do like the ability to look more specifically at transits vs. personal chart, but also (especially) the fact that it's really easy to skip around to different dates and times, so if you're thinking "hmm what was going on the last time this transit happened?" for example you can compare.

    • @aquamarine18
      @aquamarine18 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AvoryFaucette I went for it. The big sell for Luna for me is that it's cloud. I have a Windows computer right now (a laptop recently bought, so I was stuck with it) but it's the first non-Linux thing I've had since sometime mid-undergrad, 2006 or thereabouts, and the likelihood I replace the Windows with Mint is high. This makes Luna, I think, a better option than anything Windows-specific. I'm looking forward to playing around with it.

    But why is your "design" the unconscious part of you? Does it mean you can never know it? Most people have "personality" issues that they are totally uncoinsious of. "Design" sounds like it should be an important part of your soul. "Personality" is very hard to change even if you know about them. They are engrained tendancies. Your "design" sounds like it is your true essence but no one discusses it!

    • @AvoryFaucette
      @AvoryFaucette ปีที่แล้ว

      Great questions! Sorry I just got to your earlier question about red vs. black, things have been a little hectic ❤ A couple of thoughts: one, in Human Design, both the red AND the black are super important and make up the integrated person. In other words, we're always a blend of our conscious awareness, what we might consciously define as "me," and our unconscious form, which includes patterns and instincts for how we move through the world. Design is ABSOLUTELY an important part of you, in fact, much of Human Design is about reconnecting to and trusting that part! If we use just our logical mind to make decisions, we're acting entirely from the "black" side of the chart, which is incomplete. When we use Strategy & Authority, we're essentially "tapping into" the unconscious design elements of our definition, which we can't really access just through thinking our way through a problem or decision. So when you ask "does it mean you can never know it?" I think I'd focus on that word "know"-what does knowledge mean to you? I think Human Design would say that you're unlikely to know it in the sense that you understand that side with your logical mind and can direct it that way, but I would also say that "knowing" and "wisdom" have a lot of forms. One thing I like about HD is that it lets me tap into other kinds of knowing (body knowing, soul knowing) that I can't get to just with my brain. It helps me get past the illusion of "self" that so much is built around in my culture, where it's all about labels and conscious identity, and access something deeper. And yes, I do totally agree that personality includes engrained tendencies and "issues," and you might not always say "yes, I am that thing" with all the black in your definition, but I think you'd be more likely to *use* the black when thinking with your conscious awareness, or maybe it would contribute to your identity, even if you might kind of "cherry pick" the good parts 😂 Thanks for your thought provoking questions, I'm glad you're here!

    Your chart is very intriguing to me! Some dormant Gates in my chart are 33, 12, 1, 44, 53, and 38. Two of (of just three) hanging Gates in my chart are 4 and 43, and the only full channel I have is 61-24. There are SO MANY electromagnetic connections between us! (Plus a couple of compromise channels, which are fun to explore too) Overall, what would likely be a powerful 9-0 connection! I really love how you explained everything, your delivery resonates very strongly -- which doesn't exactly shock me, given the connections 😅 Edit: I commented right before you mentioned completely open Centers -- my Emotional Center is totally undefined, and I can confirm that emotions/emotional energy have always been a huge hassle for me

    I so appreciate this video and system! Not ADHD myself but definitely a spoonie and depression has fcked up my relationship with planning. This looks really interesting and I'm definitely going to take another look and try to follow along and try to actually make myself a schedule/plan with this. Something about this has just made me realize that planning is just another form of information organization. It's made the whole thing feel a lot more friendly :3

  • @kimberlyryan8618

    And what is the difference in the experience of a hanging red gate vs black gate or even a completed red line between 2 defined centers?

    • @AvoryFaucette
      @AvoryFaucette ปีที่แล้ว

      So the red vs. black is conscious vs. unconscious. They still both behave like a hanging gate, but with the black it's likely to be more in your conscious awareness, the way you knowingly operate, and part of your personality. If it's red, then it's part of your unconscious design or "form"-part of how you move through the world, but even when it's influencing you, you're less likely to be consciously aware of it. With an unconscious defined channel (completed red line between the two defined centers), that is a full channel energy you have consistent, reliable access to, but you may not be consciously aware of it or think of it as part of what makes up "self" for you. You might not define yourself as being "good at" that energy, or identify with it, but it's something that's part of how you move through the world. Does that make sense?

The irony, of course, of using tools for executive function is that you need enough executive function to at least remember to use them! That said, I'll do a video in the future if I'm able to use it enough that I feel it would be a good addition 🙂 So far I find that I like the exercises, but sometimes the feeling I'm looking for isn't quiiite included.
