Even if it's not the 007 car it's still special and worth restoring. 🤔Now if you just knew someone who had experience working on these cars... "Wait thats You"❗🤣 You gotta admit it would be great for the show 💯😎
Clean & Reasses. 🏁
Dumb junk
Can you number episodes…..it’s always a pain to find where you last were….maybe it’s me….. I just wish all you tubers did this!!
The S2 gained 'ears' to provide air intakes and exhausts to help remove heat from the engine bay and feed cool air to the carbs. At the very least, you should put an airbox and cold air pipe back on. I do have a digital copy of the parts and workshop manuals if you need them.
Awesome, now I just need to find an air box 🤔. Sure, you can reach out at heybeewildered@gmail.com
Def….rebuild!! 🙌
@@scott1814 trust me I want to 🙂
Use the parts and convert your car into a championship replica. Following!
Well if you’re going to fix it I would definitely like to see that so hopefully you will give it serious consideration. Thanks for the entertainment Tom
@@garoglasser thanks Tom, I'm checking into doing that very thing! 😀 Thanks for stopping by!
If it can be done, do it.
fellow seattle area guy here - nice score
Hey thanks! I'll have to check out your channel, very cool!
100% find a S2 to be a donor and bring it back in all its black/gold glory... but you already know that!
Definitely save it!!!
Whatever you do with it, don't destroy it! It'd be cool to see some sort of classic car body put onto this thing, or even to see the whole thing restored!
Hi Rob, can't find contact for you in your about page. I have an S2 and might be able to help with identifying your Esprit. Drop me a line (via my about page 🍻
Hi George, awesome to hear from you, that would be great! Guilty, working on getting my contact information updated on the about page. I'll reach out 🍻
Restore it.
Re build it, take the time and one day............
I just subscribed so I can watch you rebuild this .. could be the most expensive thing you'll ever do , but if it's the 007 , totally worth it
It would be a very pricey rebody/rebuild and it would be a total labor of love because you'd never get your money back out of it. However, it's got the VIN and powertrain. It would be an incredible car when rebuilt. Those wheels are amazing too. The provenance alone makes it worthy of resurrection.
I think you've already made your mind up & an fallen for it charm as something precious, it's a Lotus!!
@@christaylor6617 hah, so true!
Great project.
One of the kids at my school in England used to be picked up by his mum in a JPS Lotus in the late 70’s, suffice to say he was way more popular than the kids who’s parents drove Ford Cortina’s or Capris.
@@johns4616 love it!
There's a company in the UK called MVS Racing based in Lampeter, who specialise in repairing lotus bodywork and mechanics. I know he had a few Esprits up there the last I went there to a have another one of his splitters fitted to my Elise
Oh very interesting 🤔
Yes, yes you should…
Yes, yes you should…
I made a decision Not to watch this
If you have the heart to do it, rebuild it, it’s a part of motoring history. I’m subscribing…
Thanks so much 🙏
Rebuild this historic car , save it for future generations , please , c , John.
Whos pics of 007 did u use then?
They're from a Lotus Esprit website that is supposedly my car but I have recently verified that there's a second 007 JPS car according to records. These pictures are from the other one.
Definitely worth rebuilding, 007 and part of the Rudi collection will add value.
REBUILD IT!! ..It is worth a fortune!! ..The "originality" is in the chassis #!!!!! ...With some effort you can get the complete history of "Who, What, and Where" that JPS was born...The Lotus "JPS" started with "limited edition" model Europa's (I always hated the body style, I prefer the S2's, even though they are impossible to see out of. I'm afraid you now own 2 Lotus's (1 your an owner, 2 your an enthusiast, 3 CONGRATULATIONS! You now have a Junkyard!!!😁👍) It's time to get a "shop" You have multiple cars to build and you need the "designated" space!! ...As far as the Yellow one, You CAN'T SHAVE THE HEAD!! You need to have it welded up and "then" resurfaced!!! ..(I won't get into any discussions about "my tips") ...74 years of experience! OK..next is the engine!..( this is again, about the Yellow one)..Your in luck! You live in n a northern state..which means that "somewhere" you can find a "Cheap" Jensen Healy"!!!!!..Virtually the same engine with different Valve Covers!! ..They have horrible cheap steal bodies, that rust like a Mini Cooper!..This means "low mileage" examples with "good engines" are relatively easy to find!!! (much cheaper solution instead of rebuilding your original engine) Get the "history" of your JPS!!! ...👍🗽🇺🇸
@@billrandell4641 thanks for the advice that's great information and yes I need/want a shop badly!
OK! ..Now that I know your serious, I Subbed! ..Im' watching your JPS buy..The first thing you have to know about Lotus, is that they often used whatever parts were on their shelves, when they built each car!! You will never know what you have, until you dissassemble it!. The second is, No matter "what" your "nerd brain" tells you, DISSASSEMBLE EVERYTHING! ..They really aren't that hard to work on! ..😁👍🗽🇺🇸
So true, I feel like I keep learning that lesson over and over again 😅 cheers and that's for the sub!
Good move!..Getting the body off, gives you a complete "rolling chassis" to work with. In for a penny, in for a pound.
I think you should rebody it. One of these was going for/went for £68,000 here in the UK and you can be sure that it wasn't in the "as new" condition yours will be when it's finished. You can get almost all the body parts from SJ Sportscars - maybe even a whole top half - again here in the UK. I haven't looked it up but they have a website. Another place here that you might like to know about is Lotusbits, who not only do fantastic work but are extraordinarily helpful and have virtually every part you could ever need. Partially because they have raced Lotuses for over 20 years (my guess) and also from workshop experience they have a fount of knowledge as to what the weak points on these cars are and what usually goes wrong; frequently they have remade parts or re-specced items to get over these problems so the car you build will not be going wrong in the same way as a '70s car. (I'm a fellow Esprit owner, though mine's an S3.) Incidentally, to see what the car looks like in parts and how to restore the chassis as though it was a piece of jewellery (he really does go true perfectionist on this work and you might consider it over the top, though I can't think what bits he could skip off the top of my head) then watch the Soup Classic Motoring channel. (You might want to galvanise the chassis when you've done it to give it another 50 years of life.) I've looked up the body sections available at SJ Sportscars (which might sometimes be made to order) and there's quite a lot available - roof panels, mid rear and front sections, plus some more that I I haven't checked - but they could add up in price. But give Steve at SJ a call and he'll tell you what he has. He's a bit gruff but his heart is in the right place and he unquestionably knows his Lotuses, inside out. However, it occurs to me that since you have an S1, you could just take moulds off that and do some restoration work on the S1 at the same time. It would make terrific TH-cam viewing and probably pay for itself by the end, or hopefully sooner. And it's always useful to get the capping rails off and get at those always rusted hinges. Nor do you have to do it especially carefully as you can always take the imperfections out in the mould or on the finished part. That way it'll be just an awful lot of wax, which the S1 may appreciate anyway. Or you can take the route that you would for a full body respray (maybe even paint it too - not sure whether it's better to take the mould off the prepped car or off the painted body. Maybe painted body is best, given that the wax is something the painted car would like, whereas it would have to be taken off a prepped car before it's sprayed and anything left behind could be a disaster for the finish. Probably like you, I'd be hesitant to pour acetone based esters over a brand new spray job but I might think differently after two days of waxing and polishing. Hang on, I'm pretty sure if it's an epoxy paint, plus a ton of wax, that nothing will get through, but someone like Steve (or Mike at Lotusbits) will know better than me the best way to do it. Perhaps for safety, take the mould off the polished car and then completely prep it for respray.) There is actually a fourth option, which is to make the moulds with epoxy rather than polyester resin and use glass cloth which is much stronger than chopped strand (and so much prettier when finished). Personally, this is what I'd make the body panels out of as you can make them a bit thinner and lighter (and have more material on the roof) but that's a question of your feelings about originality. My position is that Colin Chapman would have done anything that would make the car lighter or faster, so as long as it looks the same, it gets past my veto. However, I haven't ever had cause to consider that stance in relation to such a potentially iconic car, or where the specialness is likely to be in being able to have the car in "as new" condition, exactly as it rolled out of the factory - essentially time travelling back to 1978 and having the same experience as someone driving it out of the showroom.
Thanks so much for this wealth of information!
If it is doable, fix it. It would be great content. Greeting from the Netherlands
@@erikneek I know right!?!?
Sit on it and ponder, at some stage a crashed or blown engine or transmission one will show up and you’ll end up with a 1 of a 100 car. Rebodied yes but right number etc.
Save what you can of it! Truly a beautiful legend when restored!!
the lug nuts look ok
"Something has happened to it...."🫠🎇 Was it stored in the cargo hold of the Nostromo while Ripley was fighting the Alien Queen ???? WTF ?
It is an LA car so maybe it was 🤣 hahahah
This is definitely worth saving !!! Please rebody !! You have the other one as a donor 👌😁👍
On what to do to a "car" in such condition, I usually joke, saying burn it! It looks like someone already did that....
Get a cheap S2 and rebuild the JPS. I was going to suggest you use your S1 😮
I thought about it but the S1 is a very early model and very original.
@@BeeWildered Good thinking! I love the S1 anyway. Easily the prettiest of the Esprits.
If it was no 007 ... $$$$$$$$
rebuild it
Rebuild rebuild rebuild 🥳💯👍
It would be nice to see how you could rebuild it......give it lots of thought cheers
Rebuild!!!! B
Cant go wrong for $700 really... Theres parts on there worth more. Good job
I would have CHEERFULLY dropped $700 on that. Any day. The awful music is awful btw
