Explanation of wurlitzer 1015 mechanics

Having the mechanics out of the box it is a nice opportunity to try and explain the way it works. Making such video is not easy. Respect to uncle doug, who did it better.. Regarding some details my video can be a addition to his video . This is the link to uncle doug's video th-cam.com/video/KM5bA6c7mQo/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=UncleDoug

Jeu de course
มุมมอง 2.2K2 ปีที่แล้ว
This french game is called jeu de course and was played in bars around the year 1900. Spinning mechanics lets horses run on their track until they stop. You could bet on a horse nr (there is a number marked on the side of each horse) and everyone put some money in the middle container. When it comes to a stop the horse closest to the pole wins all the money.

Rockola 1455 pinbank cleaning
มุมมอง 3K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Join me in this adventure to clean a 200 pin pinbank of a rockola 1455 D jukebox. Please add remarks , feedback, in the comments below. Dont forget this is the very first time I do this 😀 As often, most of the wisdom I found on the internet because just like me, others also share their knowledge online (thanks Marko Schmidt for example who provided the idea to use the graphit spray)

    I have rebuilt several Seeburg pinbanks; interesting to see that RMC used the same idea. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, as they say. I like the idea of graphite spray.

    This is a great explanation and I have watched it a dozen times. My selector shaft is not turning because the big pin of the spring was in back of the small pin that actually drives the shaft. But this looks OK. So how does the shaft connected to the long pin actually gets it power? From the spring? Because the small pin but is in front, not pushing the rod? Appreciate any help

    Thank you for posting this! It really helped me understand the mechanism. Perhaps you can do one explaining the cancel process, that’s where my problem is I believe.

    Thank you for the very informative video. The pinbank in my 1454, I believe is different. No terminal connections for the ground groupings. They are all hard-wired. Every pin on mine moved easily, except for four, which were seized. I broke them loose, and they all move easily now. Concerned that if I don't disassemble it and do this process, I'll have to do it later. Leaning toward using PTFE spray, rather than graphite, because it's less likely to dry out and get sticky.

    I have been working on a restoration of a 1946 1015 and use the service manual as best as I can to instruct and direct this process. However, when the sequence of functions was lost in the middle of the process, it was nearly impossible to identify the problem until I found this video. The changes within the clutch, as the process continued, were shown clearly in the video and made finding the 'frozen' part and freeing that part and the mechanism, quick and effective. Thanks for a time and application of removing the entire mechanism as a teaching tool!

      .. en daar wil je de waarde waarsch ook van weten. De 1455 heb ik gezien voor 6000 (met defecte drum), voor 7500 en voor rond de 9000 euro (volledige revisie.) De mijne is volledig gereviseerd en vol met platen en hij staat intussen op marktplaats te koop voor 8000. Ik begreep dat het wel een gewild type is. Dat scheelt weer

    The added microswitch which powers two coils. Was that so it would take less force to trip the mechanism that starts the record return cycle?

    • @arjanzuurman5240
      @arjanzuurman5240 ปีที่แล้ว

      indeed that is the idea. When upgrading the cartridge to a modern type with less needle-force, the original tripwire will be too heavy to handle.

    • @ikonix360
      @ikonix360 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@arjanzuurman5240 Probably should have been that way from the factory, although that would have been another two coils and a switch to worry about failing in the field so I can sort of see why a mechanical means was used.

    Looks like you have quite a bit of work to bring this machine back to its former glory. I just purchased a few weeks ago an identical wurlitzer 1015. Mines a lot cleaner and doesn't need many parts but it does not run, so i'll be looking at the mechanism and figuring out what needs to be done to get it working again. I have the manual for it but it's hard to follow all the connections and operational functions. Uncle Doug's 2 part video on the operation of the 1015 seem to be really helpful. Anyway, good luck with your project!

      Mine is totally disassembled now . Cleaning and lubricating the mechanics helps a lot. Ill make a new video like uncle doug. Well I try to… first Id like to understand the whole thing. To try the mechanics i replaced the motor by a drill to run it slow ( temporary) Now it can be examined. Interesting!

    Hi Arjan, very informative video! I did the same thing a few weeks ago for a good friend of mine and it was quit some work! I found a few loose wires and cleaned everything so it looked like new. I noticed the graphite layer and while cleaning the panels all the graphite disappeared. I asked Marko Schmidt from Germany who is a authority on Rock-Ola jukeboxes and he told me that on the 200 select pin banks it was not that important to have that graphite layer because the springs are weaker on the pins. with the 120 select the springs are stronger so he advised to use that graphite spray. We tested the pin bank and everything worked fine. Good idea of that phone wire insulation!! I saw another idea on how to keep the pins down, that guy used small magnets! I myself just put one pin with its C clips in both panels and insert 6 complete pins on the other side. Then I put the pin with C clips on that side and remove the other pin with C-clips and keep everything together with one hand and insert the complete pins with springs and plates with the other hand. Takes me maybe 20 minutes per panel. But your idea looks easier. For cleaning I use a small plastic container with a screw on lid and put some degreaser in in with some hot water and also some ground glass or sand from my sand filter pump, screw the lid on and just shake it for 10 minutes and everything is as clean as a whistle. Removing all the parts out of the container is also easy with a strong magnet or use a strainer that lets the water and sand through.That old phone wire is also perfect to use as a Wallboxen cable, its a thin cable and the copper wire is easy to handle.

      Thanks for you reaction Rene, Goed Idea how to clean and sand parts by shaking the can! I did it the lazy way by putting them in the dishwasher.. Before disassembling the pinbank I read something about "how to" of course (did some "research") especially this blog helped jimsrock-ola1452.blogspot.com/2018/02/selector-unit-cleaning-reassembly.html so the credit of the idea to use some kind of pieces of tube, go to Jim Koska..
