Just a guy wrenching on cars trucks and anything else of the sort . Repairs, Revivals , Restorations or who knows? But in a real world no budget everyday guy fashion at the average guy pace (at least for now) Shorter timelines , bigger budgets, and better projects will come with time. Hope you enjoy!

Your way better off finding another like you did. Definitely afraid the broken pice was going to mess up your rokers.
Yeah
Nice vid...a really stupid question for anyone out there, since I can't find the answer anyplace-- we have a later 2002 3100 in one of our daily drivers (Grand Prix SE) and, judging by the loss of 3100's already-feeble low-end, the timing chain is seemingly stretched out pretty badly at 168K...cam position sensor just spit a code too, making me think it's REALLY stretched out. I'd like to replace it but the Haynes manual says I have to drop not only the pan (D'OH!) but the starter and possibly even the TRANSAXLE!?! WTF!?! Thanks in advance for any useful replies.
You could probably do it in the car and maybe just have to lower the pan some and some other accessories in the way of the timing cover. I learned I could have probably done it in the car when I got another timing cover in the junkyard it was a pain not having all the tools but I probably could’ve took the timing set off too . Not sure about your car but these are real tight quarters and I went through the passenger wheel well on the one in the junkyard.
I bought one and know almost nothing about it Its on my channel Cant even tell what model it is
There’s groups on facebook for them look Allis Chalmers 900 series I think it covers 700 series too. Can’t remember right off hand.
Your good keep it up
A take that engine apart
Replace the condenser take a little emery cloth to the points set the points at .020 . Give that carburetor a good cleaning. It shoul fire right up. I had a Cub Cadet 106 Now I have a 127. I do all my repairs.
How current do you think this video is? lol
@@AverageJoesGarage first time I've seen it.
Rest in pieces rare dump truck
Sometimes some gotta be sacrificed for others and it’s actually pretty crusty in the usual places and bed even though I didn’t do a walk around. Plus whatever gets the truck that it’s benefiting outta my way and outta my hair so be it.
bottom end bearing
How ya figure? no knocks pretty sure I found the culprit but we’ll see . I’m not putting much more money or effort into it after this.
@@AverageJoesGaragea rod bearing missing lets the piston get closer to the head.
@timothybayliss6680 well originally the timing chain went so it could be that things got outta time and collided at the wrong time. If I’m wrong I’m wrong but we’ll see. I also had the pan off at one point and no debris such as bearings
Have to rebuild it
Funny ass thumbnail, then when I open the video... You look just like my younger cousin Bobby..
Not sure how to take that but as long as you’re amused or entertained
@@AverageJoesGarage oh. yeah.. It's fine. he's ok. Just another redneck like us.
Your not failing, your learning.
What year is that? My 67 and 68 had pistons that were humped on one side and dished on the other.. they stuck up above the surface of the block if im not mistaken.. That engine would thump along in 4th gear idling at about 50 rpm going down the trail at about 5 mph. Not sure why every 345 on TH-cam has flat pistons.. Not sure what they do for compression or flow...
It’s a 72 assuming it’s the original engine. We did find out there’s two different heads that these take because these ones are cracked and beyond repair and they’re hard to find but we picked a solution to that (hopefully) a few weeks ago. Keep watching.
I hope you fixed it up. I love those old tractors!
Slowly but surely but basically just using it for now would like to restore it in the future.
Pretty cool...and you could even drain that last drop from oil cans and filters by putting them down in one of the funnels.
Get after it brother
I use a piece of cardboard..draw the cyl head shape and bolt pattern on it marking - front - back etc fir reference if needed most are easy to refit and don't need that .. and poke holes and insert the bolts as i take them out... if there are nuts and spacers like you have...i just mark those locations on cardboard ( N / S is enough usually ) ..i also note any special differences as i go ( longer spacers or washers etc... ) makes reassembly simple....i can figure it out but this is time well spent when working on anything...sometimes it takes time to get back on a repair...and remembering isn't required if you help yourself while tearing it apart.... been doing repairs ( on anything ) for 50 plus years.. 🇨🇦🤓🤟

You don't see these anymore in New England. They've all long rotted away.
Either that or thrown away like many other cars of the era. Not to mention CFC in 09🙄

Not bad for a Walmart power tool.

Old video runs like a champ now! But thanks anyway. 👍🏻
I'm doing this exact job right now. I just finished my windshield lip rust repairs. That was a job! Had to replace the entire roof edge from pillar to pillar. Had to make my own panels. The lower corners, inside of the windshield was rotted away also. It's been painted and weathered. The job turned out great. Anyhow, I did just start my cowls. I'm going to have to do the kick panels and, at least, the driver side floor. I'm in Michigan so I froze my ass off outside this week working on my truck. This was the video I needed to see! Thanks for the inspiration!
Glad I could help somehow this truck needs the above the windshield fixed too but who knows when or if that will happen it’s my dads and I think once we get the engine back in it he’s over it at least that’s what he says now. It’s at a stand still for now.
Fire it up!
Kohlers have a built in compression release. Your gauge is probably fine.
I use Rust-Oleum spray paint a lot. It's chemical compound makeup is actually much stronger than anything else like PPG or high expensive paints. It's specifically made to literally stick to dirt. With all my rust-free Arizona vehicles I know I know they're not worth it to you LOL you like Rusty bolts that break and cutting out metal and welding new metal in you like doing that I get my Mint Condition low mi need nothing Rusty vehicles aren't worth it to you lol ... But even me the chemical engineer that's worked for Roush racing Ford Motor Company, aerospace, been paid to assign anti-corrosion coatings to 50 million dollar aircrqft, and i also rely on Rust-Oleum to protect my rides from corrosion lol.
Actually I don’t have nothing against solid rust free cars I just live where we have to deal with it and no not everything is rusty here. Also rust free old vehicles if you can find one here are a fortune because they are solid so I learned how to repair sheet metal and do auto body because I can find rusty vehicles at good prices and I also don’t have the “oh it’s rusty there’s no saving it” mindset if I can make the patch I will or I’ll buy it new or a good used one at a good price. However they can be too far gone sometimes those are parts vehicles.
