AZ Mountain Biking Adventures
United States
Welcome to AZ Mountain Biking Adventures.
I'm Eldon, and with the help of my buddy Scott, I've set out to document our adventures as we ride trails around Arizona.
We also hope to be a resource for beginners, new comers, vacationers, RV Adventureres, and even some of you local trail veterans.
We try to be informative as well as entertaining. We'll show you the good, the bad, and the occasionally ugly, as we explore, document, and profile each trail.
No Red Bull riding, jumps, tricks, special camera affects, or gimmicks. While we do occasionally take some risks, we know our limitaions and try to operate within them. For the most part, we're just two old guys who are all about exploring and profiling trails around Arizona, as well as having some fun along the way.

Pyramid Peak at Night
This video is one that we did last winter. I wasn't too fond of it, so I put it aside for a time and forgot about it. Being that it's almost Christmas, and we haven't had much time to do filming over the last couple weeks, I dusted this one off and decided to retool and publish it. I hope you enjoy it. We'd done a little night ride out around Pyramid Peak a couple weeks before. Believe it or no...
San Tan Trail
We had the San Tan trails on our "to do" list, but I hadn't intended to go that weekend. I usually do a little research and some cursory planning, but that morning we just deccided to head to the San Tan trails on a whim. Its not a very big trail system as compared to South Mountain, Browns Ranch, or the Phoenix Mountain Preserve. It's more on the order of Cave Creek or the Estrella trail syste...
Monument Peak Trail
After our epic ordeal in Strawberry, we decided to do an easy one for our last ride of the weekend. It was mostly wide track with lots of sand to slog through. It looked like the trails around the area got a lot of motorized traffic. Overall, the surface conditions were either deep sand or harder packed dirt and sand, which was very easy to lose traction and somewhat treacherous. We started on ...
Barefoot Trail, (Strawberry, AZ)
Little did we know when we set out, that we'd be in for an epic odyssey. From Payson, we set out for the little town of Strawberry and the Bearfoot trailhead. The trailhead was just south of town about two miles. We passed it twice, before finally locating it just off the highway, off the edge of a little pull out lane. Parking was little more than a dirt clearing, where multiple trails and dir...
Little Scorpion Loop
We hit part of Little Scorpion Loop in the previous video, but didn’t have the time left, nor the energy left, to fully explore the loop and all of its features. That’s when we decided to go back and shoot a video of just the Little Scorpion Loop. And I’m glad we did. The loop is really part of the greater Scorpion trail with a smaller section that splits off, to the east, on the south section,...
Pima & Dynamite: Taranchula, Snake Eyes, & Scorpion
We returned to attempt to complete the Technical trails: Dare a Sarah, Taranchula, Snake Eyes, and Scorpion. There are lots of technical features and sections that split off in two directions, with trail markers pointing the way to the "Most Difficult" and the "Least Difficult" or bypass sections. if you're lower intermediate rider, I highly recommend you bypass the "Most Difficult" sections. T...
Pima & Dynamite Technical Loops I
We had big plans to hit all of the technical loops, (Dare a Sarah, Tarantula, Snake Eyes, & Scorpion), about a mile NW of the Browns Ranch Pima & Dynamite trail head. We also aimed to take on some of the more difficult technical sections of those trails. We were able to ride the southern edges of Dare a Sarah and some of Scorpion and Snake Eyes, and do some playing in the boulders, but it got h...
Browns Ranch - Axle Grease Trail
This ride was a short one. We've done Axle Grease before, so we knew what to exxpect. However, what I didn't expect was to have some of the footage of the ride ruined by a massive smear on the camera lense. We hit the end of Axle Grease and diverted on to West Express to explore some of the more challenging little loops, ei: Dare a Sarah, Scorpion, Snake Eyes, etc. I must have smeared the lense...
Trail Review: Browns Ranch - Latigo / West Express
We hit the Browns Ranch preserve once again, starting from the Dynamite & Pima trailhead. This ride was a short , but eventfull one. From a rare cactus sighting, to sessioning obstacles, to mechanical issues, to Scott running out of water and crashing. We headed out northeast on Latigo Trail, up to several special points of interest , and then diverted onto West Express Trail, with cameo appear...
Trail Review: Paloma Preserve Trails
Paloma Preserve Trails: I learned about this little system from a subscriber, @ghostdancer9993 Thanks for the 411! The main trail, a multi use path, starts at Sanoran Mountain Ranch Park and heads west, splitting into a number of little trails. It's not a big preserve, but it has a decent variety of short trails. I'm sure you could hook up a number of them to get a good 4 to 8 miles of riding. ...
Trail Review: Yuma, Sugarloaf Trails
The Sugarloaf trails were a little different than what we were expecting. While the terrain was similar to the Lake Havasu trails, th-cam.com/video/Dre5hfKJqCo/w-d-xo.html , the Sugarloaf trails were loose and treacherous, the steep climbs were almost impossible with the loose trail surface, and the area was almost devoid of plant life. The surrounding environment was soo stark and ugly, that i...
Hawes Redux - Trail Review: Wild Horse & High Noon
Back to conquer, We hit Wild Horse once again. We ended up taking a wrong turn onto Stinger. We inteded to do the Stinger loop from below and hook back up with Wild Horse futher up the way. We missed the first section and ended up on the back section, heading the wrong way, and had to back track up to Wild Horse. We climbed up to the Wild Horse / High Noon intersection and took High Noon back d...
Trail Review: Gold Canyon
Trail Review: Gold Canyon Trails We hit the Gold Canyon trail system fro the Baseline access, and went clockwise, (Gold Canyon - Cougar - 2Doo - Lost Goldmine - Gold Canyon DT east - K Trail - Vortex - Gila Monster - 2GM - and back to Gold Canyon). With all the rain we've had over the last winter and spring, a "super bloom" occured. About 6 different plants and catus were all blooming at the sa...
Trail Review: Lake Havasu Part II - Blue Climb Trail
Trail review: The Blue Climb It was another great day of riding the trails in Sara Park. This time, however, we got lost trying to find the connection for Blue Climb Trail off of Watershed. Our only complaint about the park is that the trails are poorly marked and its easy to get off track or turned around. We got off on some side trail and ended up pushing the bikes quite a ways up a steep dra...
