Going great 💯👍
Such adept “connecting of dots” and pointing out correlations. Mark too is quite astute. The light-hearted chapter once again proves heavy on lessons and philosophy. 😉Am very much looking forward to the next two installments about metals and gems. Thx, all.
Jai Guru Babaji 🙏
All the discussions about music have been fascinating. Re the cosmic chants: I find them miraculous actually and use different ones for specific purposes. They’re truly transformative. Our cats also love them! 😊 Also I’ve been heavily into Krishna das lately as his devotion pours through his music. Sometimes I wake up with chants going through my head. It’s quite nice!
Krishnadas has some magic! Neem Karoli Baba must have instilled that in him to inspire us
Fullerton Temple in California has a section in back that is sometimes open for floor seating. For meditations, not Sunday services. And they have pews on which you can sit cross-legged. Some people do that.
Thank you for that information! No doubt it may come up again in our discussions or someone else on the channel may find this information useful

Jai Guru🙏🏽
@YoganandaPodcast 🙏
In addition to points in the missing lamp, it might be interesting to consider how Guru wants us to also seek answers within as in search, introspect and question oneself, do the work, and not just outwardly locate anything. We might get supported by grace and blessings but indeed work is demanded on the inside. The path is pretty clear in directions like GPS but search in location is a journey. And this statement feels like a promise from Guru to disciple, 'The Lord shall send an umbrella of clouds; you all shall walk in comfort.' Generally speaking, as explained, sincere desire for everyone is- seeking happiness and avoiding pain. Take an airplane route though!! or teachings. Basically the Truth.
What a lovely and uplifting video-report. Thank you.
Also thx for link to Puri ashram.
U all are branching out by bringing in the Psalms ☺️. Much appreciated the dive into Sincere Desires. This year especially brought me to the conclusions you reached re praying for one’s own health-great to hear confirmation by the SRF nuns. Re signs & wonders: I recommend hindsight when remembering incidents in our lives as doing so always seems to show Guruji’s influence long before we started on this path. Looking forward to the next installment. Enjoying Shiraz’s contributions BTW.
Thank You Maria 🙏🏽
Referring to tests and trials, sincere disciples like you all must have been affirming that my God bigger than problems. Research has proven that our hearts has more neurons than the brain. So regular practices along with willpower and calmness as an outcome builds up strong neuronal connections in our hearts too. Its amazing how memories as a feeling or disciplined action with emotions builds up in heart as well referring to neuronal connection theory. Loved this statement on the goal of Yoga science which summarizes Guruji message- Devotion+ scientific meditation.... For sending loving or high vibrational thoughts, there is this Loving-kindness meditation where no. of statements are affirmed to self first, another person, neutral person and the entire Universe. True that many of us are quite blessed in our space. Huge respect to Army and their families and trauma-survivors. Peace to everyone. JAI GURUDEVA🙏
Great work on catchup to the latest episode, we are honoured that you did it so quickly 😀
@ you are absolutely right. I feel good to complete the syllabus🤩I am with my class now, hopefully 🤞
This is very interesting episode showing intricate balance between outward duty and inward duty. This sentence, 'You have neglected your duty in safeguarding the ashram...', I kind of reflected upon my experiences. Lot of times I have neglected or been ignorant of protecting my ashram (referring to inner environment and myself) unknowingly or because being too caring for others and not enough for myself and yes each time I suffered and there was a punishment for this negligence. Still learning..!! Also, based on your discussion I wonder how many person were actually picked up by God and Guru for our grace and/or chastisement in a more entertaining ways... How Guru minimises karma in a way that Mukunda was saved of losing his personal possessions other than his dearest cauliflower in this case, that too, only for SYji. Reminded me of how Babaji once burned a part of his disciple arm to save him from huge karma. Another point if this thief saw picture of Lahiri Mahasaya in that space... Just a thought.. Blessings!!
wow amazing poing about our own inner ashram 🙏🏽 such a fine balancing act between selflessness and neglect.. We can only rely on our instict 🫠
I don't know about God but I do have found teachings of Yoganandaji (now that's a lotttt). Can't handle!! This may serve as one of the parameter of my Bliss-o-meter...😊in some moments. And I have found you all beautiful beings; a reflection of sincere Guruji’s disciples.🙏🏻🌟 I loved the way SYji communicated his love for Mukunda. this remark that he did not show slightest vexation for inconvenience caused, this is beautiful. Only Guru can be selfless in his acts. Another point on delusive conviction could be an example of any negative, distorted thoughts that betray us and degrades.
can you offer an example of such thoughts you made in your latter point?
@ I say that as a Psychologist. The nature of negative thoughts that depicts mental health crisis and/or disturbances including how unworthy or not good enough one is and similar thoughts. Such negative thoughts are distorted, irrational, unhelpful. Not true but yet believed- so as such an example of ‘delusive conviction’.
Of course a mental health condition needs separate attention and care. What I mean to say is often such disturbances with negative thoughts that one creates and then believing those thoughts followed by poor consequences keep us trapped- a delusive conviction of believing the lies.
Maybe Priyank’s point on creation part as discussed can be concluded in Guruji’s words as this creation including planets, stars and everything is God’s hobby. And I loved this statement given in AOY, ‘A Divine universal plan exists and that it is beautiful and fullnof joy.’ And with Thoughts as said by SYji it all exists in the ether and I guess we catch up to vibration thereby downloading from the ether. And transmuted all including salvation brought into my thinking as explained in BG- 3 gunas and how we have to progress tamas, rajas and rising above Sattva guna as well. This is so beautiful- Spotless is my mental sky- felt like only virtuous mind and all tendencies of the mind w.r.t kauravas (as explained in God talks with Arjuna) is gone. Loved it Priyank that you shared Samudra manthan (and so we also called him Nilkanth mahadeva)- you know why Shiva holded poison in his throat because Narayan, Lord krishna dwells in his heart. THANK YOU DIVINE FAMILY!!
super comparison transmutation to the Gunas 🙏🏽🫠 love it
I wonder if jumping into a chocolate fountain could be considered a “desire”!! 😉 Better avoid any such factories in upcoming incarnations. 😁😵💫
or avoiding an incarnation altogether 😅
Re perceiving/discovering what’s already out there: there’s a concept in Jungian psychology called the Collective Unconscious, which accounts for some of the foremost tech inventions being found simultaneously in different parts of the globe. -Also re thought: there was a recent FB post where Guruji recited something that happened once while meditating. He couldn’t feel his hands and when he looked at them, he saw they were just a thought and he realized that everything is just a thought. (Sorry I can’t recall the site that posted it. Might have been taken from the Trilogy book by Durga Mata.)
One can sense that Jung is a favourite of yours 😊
@ u Used to be. Replaced by Guruji. 🙂
Technically, the cauliflowers belonged to Sri Yukteswar. Mukunda gave them to him.
“Fun punishment” 😆😆😆
To be honest I am not able to comprehend Guruji's details on experiencing cosmic consciousness. Like what should i imagine.. As a child, I have watched some episodes of Lord Krishna's childhood years. One episode shows how Yashoda Maa was catching Krishna and then asked Him to open His mouth. With His grace, she saw the entire universe in His mouth. Experience feels like this to me. Your level of work, sincerity and commitment on this episode and everything..🙌🙌🙏THANK YOU!!
That scene of Krishna and Yashoda is epic, so much mysticism in such innocent setting.. you might say even more complex than Gurujis description in this section 😊
@ That’s true.✨
Takeaway- If one has doubt or thoughts then give it a shot. Go and find out for yourself. However, keep your goals clean and clear. What one is looking for exactly! Guru ji explains this way for beginners in search of the truth- initially one may take different paths, teachers, books, sessions but once he/she feels that connection in heart then stay true to the path. (just trying../ efforts).. Beautiful discussion throughout..
Thank you for your input 🫠🙏🏽
'I did not need sleep, for I was ever with God.' said by RGM. I also prefer to consider here "sleep' as any ignorant, pampered tendencies/ patterns or enemies of the mind in terms of certain external stimuli, people, moods, negative thoughts or mental crisis which also needs professional help (certainly in cases of actual diagnosis) and/or teachings as well for all devotees and truth-seekers on this path. and When we are ever with God, Highest potential, we don't need sleep- as in enemies annihilation. In the Bhagavad Gita, Arjuna is referred as Gudakesa- conqueror of sleep- Guruji mentions in his commentary- 'Ordered thus by the devotee (ever-ready, sleepless, delusion-defeating), the Soul drove the best of chariots- and intuitively commanded devotee to face his inner enemies. and what Priyank talked about leaving problem aside for a while and then sudden solution to the problem is referred as Insight; studied by Lawrence Kohlberg. (interesting experiment on Cognitive process in Psychology) Lots of respect to you Chris, bless you and your wife!! Entire discussion, perspectives, reading absolutely comforting!!
super analogy and finding on the alternate understanding of sleep 🙏🏽 Profound !!
The first part of Guruji's conversation with RGM reassures him on SYji's words that mountains cannot be your guru. In the second part Mukunda asks for samadhi. Why did he ask RGM for samadhi? I see that RGM answer on this also centers around reassuring Mukunda on SYji's contact and that he is the only one to bestow him such experience. Is it also because Mukunda admires this great saint so he wanted highest blessings from him as well. Just some thoughts around this conversation!!
Jai Guru, interesting research about walking pace, does walking slow have some plus points too? and Happy Diwali everyone!!!
With slow pace you can practice Hong Sau effectively and attain to Mukti liberation ❤️🫠
Interesting asides about different walking rates. I always walked fast also until my knees became problematic last year. After both replaced in May of this year, it’s a long process trying to get anywhere close to it now. Appreciate those knees, you all! 😊
With respect to your question on purpose of life- i think it would be fair to consider both duties equally. Guruji explains in the lessons how we have to harmonize material and spiritual duties. so we can have two purposes in life: (1) find a meaningful way to serve and give in the world by rediscovering and using intelligence, talent, skill, education, training. (2) inwardly connect with and commune with God; knowing that the power comes from the Source. I think both are the purpose and then one day we might live on Spiritual pension as we saw earlier (sorry, I forgot name of the saint) Or doing it all through and for God. Above all, spirituality is subjective, individual journey to go Home. and God is in one's Meditative state, and feel in all 8 aspects in His omnipresence. Beautiful points and questions you have discussed. 🙏
Beautifully expounded 2 pounts 🙏🏽 Very Apt
@ Thankyou for your kind words and for the incredible work you are doing🌟🙏🏻
Thank you, sweet of you to say so, it is for Guruji. Your comments add diverse texture to our discussions, which I am sure other followers will appreciate
@ ohh Thank you for acknowledgment. Coming from you means a lot. In divine friendship🌟
Jai Guru
What I have come to learn is that karma needs to be fulfilled in some way; it makes us pay but it can be neutralized as well. In a way that suffering is less suffering in experience and lot of changes at a deeper level takes place in the most graceful manner (probably at a mind level as in right attitude and calm heart). Sometimes the entire experience gives birth to spirituality and realization of the purpose. Chris and Mike made strong points. even when we do Guruji's healing prayer i guess devotees are sending strength, power and blessings to help grow through (as they say) in what they are going through (karma). karma is a mysterious process; it's just not a punishment; no specific answer but yes it gives chance to everyone to uplift, empathetic, arise and awake. Karma is a possibility, an avenue to change.
Well said 🙏🏽
Here Mukunda desiring to go to the Himalayas within 6 months at the ashram made me wonder on our approach at times. like another perspective could be a fantasy, a belief or an attitude to have siddhi/ divine communion/ kriya yoga sooner since one is on the path, or has found Guru and that Guru will do everything for me. Or perhaps Guru will take care and my efforts / training part is not required. On other occasion, one may fall into familiar pattern that happiness is on the other side (in this case the Himalayas). may be this is also an example of delusion as pointed out.
Jai.. Guru 🙏
Jai Gurudeva
I remember sharing this at the beginning of podcast on AOY- how would it feel like when you all will study, learn and share lessons from this chapter and it feels good to travel with you in master's hermitage. THANK YOU SOOO MUCH.... Here are some key points from all episodes which i'd like to share- The Guru is the law- Fear nothing else but fear fear itself The impartilaity of saints is rooted in wisdom get rid of mosquito consciousness- change yourself let us hie homeward within Roam in the world as a lion of self-control SYji's on understanding the truth in scriptures- the originality from its implication on life- uniqueness holding the same interiorised state in face of criticism or absurdity and the funeral of all sorrows.
An excellent set of points there 🫠 you could make your own inspirational poster with those! Glad to have you with us 🙏🏽
@@YoganandaPodcast Good idea.. Am glad too🙏🏻✨
In the chapter, “Where Jesus is Now…” of the Divine Romance, Guruji does mention that Kumar eventually returned and followed him (page 261)
Wow what an Eagle eye you have for detail! Thank you so much for the reference, we read it with delight. 🙏🏽🫠
The sweeping up after the samadhi experience reminded me of the zen koan: “Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water; after enlightenment, chop wood, carry water.” - It’s interesting how Guruji places the lighter/more amusing chapters directly after the heavy/serious ones. He’s always always wanting us to balance. ⚖️ - The talk of rasa made me hanker for a mango lassi; alas, none forthcoming. But thanks, all, anyway 🙂↔️
You are so beautiful. The Master is happy. 🥰💚
At Fullerton Temple and at convocation i see the Bramacharis in a dark suit with a light yellow shirt, brothers wear the saffron robe. I am not sure about the Nuns. And I don't know about the postulants and novices.
Hi Kevin, indeed all the 4 stages have a variation in dress and colours 😊 yogananda.org/monasticorder#The%20Four%20Stages%20of%20Monastic%20Life
Jai Guru Priyank, I relate to what you said about meera mata ji's chants and have a theory regarding this, i feel people are more closer to their maatri bhasha rather than the languages they learn later. As thinking language i use english for work and studies but I don't know if it's just me or hindi gives a feeling of noticable centeredness even in meditation. And i have also found something recently that hindi uses Devnagari script which translates to "From the land of gods".Plus there is a homely feeling in listening to the chants and music we liked in our childhood. Short recommendation : Listen to the chant Krishnaya vasudevaya in the same album ,the flute is divine.
I have this CD but it got put away before I actually listened to it. I have retrieved it and will now put it to use. Thx.
Thank You Hritihik wonderful recommendation. Very good point about mother tongue and sanskrit 🙏🏽🫠
Heyy Priyank. YSS lesson study group meets every Friday online at online dhyan kendra. Lessons are read, understood and meditated upon. This same method is followed as instructed by Sri Yukteshwarji. And I have to make separate set of notes for your podcasts😅😁 as well. Titles in episodes are also helpful in terms of specifically searching topics in lessons through app. Blessings to everyone!!
Ahh you are in the rare category of devotees that take studies so seriously that you have copious amounts of notes 🙏🏽🫠
@@YoganandaPodcast sometimes as much as possible. Other times depending on topics. Thanks to you all.
Fabulous ending video from the Londoners & former Londoners. Superb matching of visuals to the language.
The sense of this poem reminds me so much of Whitman in Song of Myself in Leaves of Grass (and Emerson too). Re the ending, remember that poems often write themselves or arrive fully formed, like some songs, as musicians attest. - Re thoughts: the mystic Edgar Cayce always emphasized “Mind is the Builder.” -Mike, one of the Google replies to my questions about the German translation of “The Light of Asia” said “There isn’t much information about who translated into German” but another reply said “it was translated into German in 1887”!!! All of which is odd since most modern 1:10:27 poems cite the translator. - I’m impressed you all delving into this in one shot-I expected installments 😊 Way to go ❤ - Luv the AI bubble image
Hi Maria, thank you for the profound quite of Edgar Cayce recommendation of Whitman's epic poem.. amazing literature! Regarding your search results Light of Asia.. there must ne other translations too now available! Jai Guru
You are the wise: seeking God. Thank you for all your reflections, and insights.
Re whether a guru is absolutely necessary: I’m wondering about saints/mystics like St. Theresa, Francis, John of the Cross etc. Maybe they were so advanced they were able to bypass an earthly guru and Christ was actually their guru. Any input on such as these?
A intriguing point about those advanced souls.. which is what they must have been.. one can only wonder about their respective Gurus 🙏🏽
It seems to me that this gorgeous description of cosmic consciousness demonstrates Guruji experiencing the Trinity-so all encompassing. - Also, re the friends who passed by without recognizing him: why would that be? It reminded me of the Transfiguration (that word in lower case actually used for the “ galaxies, transfigured with ineffable auras.” Earlier Guruji said “ my flesh was as though dead” so I’m wondering if he might have been veiled, so to speak, as having lost ectoplasm to appear less visible to the human eye, kind of ghostlike. Certainly the whole episode is enthralling to us Dear Readers/listeners. - Google definition of “firmament” implies a tangible element. So maybe Guruji felt that he could actually touch the heavens and/or skies/planets. -A fine job you all did with these unearthly passages, emphasis on “passages.” 😊
Thank you Maria! Amazing additional points and clarifications from our discussion 🙏🏽

The act of being religious is an act of interpretation. Hmm.
Thx for the input on how each of you deal with the restless mind when trying to meditate. One totally and consistently foolproof method would be superb when the mind keeps fooling around 😉.
If that one method worked Guruji would have told us about it haha 🙏🏽
It's also about focusing or judging the behaviours of person and not person. God's omnipresence is in every heart. PARMATMA. Focusing on the potential of people and latent divinity than to be negative or judgmental. I see this as one of the ways to free oneself from egoic conviction and faulty memory about person/ event/ situation (of course takes time, practice, willpower) and frees working memory space as well which could otherwise go a bit disturbed or restless beyond its status. This episode also served as a powerful lesson on developing DISCRIMINATION. THANK YOU FAMILY!!
Congratulations Chris ❤
Congratulations for the marriage chris.May god bless you and our bhabhi always 🙏 🪔
Bhagavan Krishna has promised that He will take our deficiencies/lack and increase our virtues. The verse is ," But those who always worship Me with exclusive devotion, meditating on My transcendental form- to them I carry what they lack, and I preserve what they have.
