    When was this? Cold & rainy is not my idea of fun; however, it is more fun when you have someone to backpack with & share the adventure--plus much safer! Miss those days of backpacking. Plan to ride a lot this year and camp in my horse trailer with Living Quarters. Best of both worlds! God Bless you on more adventures!

      Hello Jan! This is last year the first week in September. It was cold and wet the whole trip but didn't seem to bother me and I was always warm and dry in my tent. That was really surprising to me. The hikes on the PCT will start getting harder because the two main sections I have left are the "K" section (Stevens to Rainy Pass) and the "L" Section (Rainy Pass to Canada). Not to mention finding someone to shuttle me up and back, lol.

    Awesome job man; thanks for posting this...where was that first campsite you ran into with the bench's? We're going to be fastpacking from Snoqualmie Pass and was targeting Lemah Creek the first day...that spot you showed looks like it would accommodate a lot of tents and doesn't appear to be much farther than Lemah Creek or the Meadows?

      Hello Allan! Of course I remember. So glad you're completing your bucket list. I've been looking at that 'K' Section (Stevens to Rainy Pass) and it looks intimidating. Haven't done it yet. I'm thinking about cutting it in half. Going from Stevens up to Suiattle River/Camp. Then exiting via trail #784 Suiattle River trail over to Sulphur Creek Campground which is just outside of Darrington, Wa on FSR 26. I've kindof planned that being my getting in and getting out points. Then return another year to finish Suiattle River to Rainy Pass. It's supposed to be lots of elevation !!!!! They're actually called "snow pushers" not snow shovels and yes, it's the same idea as a snow plough. You can even find ones that can be angled with respect to their handles to windrow the snow off to the side. The trick is to find a steel one as many are now aluminum or just plastic with a ridge of steel. Another problem is some people tend to use the corners as ice chippers, don't do that, use an ice chipper instead, but you can bet someone in your family will regardless of how much you warn them not to.

    Probably better a chest harness than having anything solely around your neck like that. Even if it's 'just' elastic I suspect it could do you some damage if you fell and it was somehow caught and tugged.

    I don’t get it. If the shunt disconnects (this is a Real possibility) and the rope is not double anchored to the top (meaning each branch of the rope needs its individual anchor point) then you can slide down to the bottom

    • @tonyshikes
      @tonyshikes 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The rope is double anchored at the top. You can hang from either side of the rope and it will not move. The shunt slips over both ropes and when you attach a carabiner it cannot come off.
