Box is good for catchers that "cup" the ball by rolling tips of pinky and ring finger down to their palm...flat style for the "pinchers" or "thumbers"! Box style is for type that let the ball hitting the mitt close the hand natural instead of force closing ya pointer finger down to ya end of thumb or ya thumb up to the bottom of ya middle finger! Not many now days that on foul ball still have an open mitt!!!

Aso uses hot water from the tap and pours it over the glove with a cup for accuracy, avoiding the inner glove. He then pounds it and stretches the living shit out of it. Then he recommends playing catch to naturally form the pocket and to form to the hand and fingers. Ultimately he recommends that one just plays catch but this method speeds up the breaking in process.

Rawling Glove breaker Specifically said to not use heat/ovens/water with their specific gloves as it will cause issues in long term care and maintenance of the gloves. Maybe you should have just watched Rawlings video for yourself and tried to be an instant professional of something that you have only done a couple of times in your life. They are called professionals for a reason. The very first step is to work the crease from the palm to the pocket. What your doing will work but the glove will lighten up and fall over like a pancaked glove. The goal is to break it in so the pinky and thumb come together even.Then after working in the glove for a while it’s time to get her oiled and conditioned for the pocket with thick wide rubber bands for 24 hrs undo it play catch for an hour or two then mallet the crap out of the creases and pockets already developed. Wash rinse repeat every except Re-Applying oil/lanolin/conditioner

You probably won’t see this but do you do two in the pinky on your mitt. I used to not but now I do on my Wilson and I love it. I boxed it and it is great. I just got a new Al star pro elite and it is kind of hard to do two in the pinky. But I tried going back to all fingers In their slots and index out but the right side, under the toe sways caves in and it makes it hard. Any tips or how to fix it?

Wilson only has Rawlings on feeling better on the hand in my mind. It feels like Rawlings doesn’t put the nicer leather on the palm liner…otherwise, Rawlings just plays better for me and seems more durable.

So my shin guard has like a wrinkle in it from molding, it folded somehow, will this fix that?

: I would think you would have a second brush that you could use to brush the dirt out of the the laces prior to using the conditioner. That catcher's glove appeared to be extremely dirty.
